Yes they can detain you. They have a small room in the back that is a holding cell you will be arrained by one of the cashiers within 24 hours and held in front of the general manager within 48 you can plead your case to lost prevention possibly get an OR bond but normally it's the jewelry store and the pharmacy that decide if you're going to be indicted or not and if they indict you you have to go in front of Sam Walton who could actually ban you from Walmart for the rest of your life or force you to be a door greeter for 5 years I've seen some of the youngest people get convicted end up a door greeter for 5 years and within two they look like they are in their 60's . That sentence it's a very similar sentence as to what 20 years of methamphetamine abuse will do, Have you looking like you're 60 and your '20s checking receipts as they leave... Make you have a diaper on and sometimes smell like poop
