Listening to large numbers is nothin for me. but when you SEE, their representation... shit is awe inspiring.

Enjoy.

and a little Canis Majoris ^^

Even with the video, you STILL can't imagine that shit. WOW...I hope to live long enough to see space flight become routine and affordable.

I just read some Scary shit on Celestia.com. They were saying that with VY Canis Majoris only 5000 or so light years away. When it blows up we're gonna feel it. It will also be the closest Black hole in our Galaxy. They say it's in it's final Deathroes. Meaning another 1000 or so years and it will POOF. if we keep fuckin up the Ozone, we might get more than sunburn.

Something 5000 light years away could affect us.. that shit is wild.

ts estimated the radius of VY Canis Majoris is between between 1800 and 2100 solar radii. That's pretty big.
If VY was the size of a beach ball, the sun would be the size of a pea or a speck of sand. If it were in the place of our sun, it's surface would be at the orbit of Saturn.

Its about 5000 lightyears from Earth, so while we would see the explosion as a very bright star in the sky we wouldn't feel any effects for at least 5000 years if at all.
There might be an increase in UV and gamma radiation - and if we keep destroying the ozone layer that would be the end of life on Earth.

The best estimate is that it will explode sometime within the next 1000 years

when you think of the universe
it really humbles you...

78 billion light years across
that's the size of the universe..

that means if you could travel at the speed of light , it would take 78 billion years to cross it...

most of us won't even make it to 75 yrs....:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

...and yet some men continue to think that we are alone in the universe:smh:

Good post.

With that being said it's really fucking funny to me how people try to dumb down the possibility of having had or having visitors to Earth as we know it. Constantly I hear this and that about how within our scope of understanding shit is or isn't possible. Fuck everything we know in regards to shit like this!!!! Looking at just a minuscule part of the Universe that we are aware of I'm constantly in a state of awe. Tight fucking post I love shit like this

The quote you gave states that it will take another 5000 years if it were to blow up to feel the effects IF any.

Here is something else to wrap your minds around. Our Sun is so far away that when you see it what you are looking at is the sun 9 minutes ago. That is ... you are always looking at the past when you look out in space so the further you look the further in the past you are looking.

These pics and the video really puts things in perspective as to our 'place' in the cosmos. I've seen thousands of pics of space, but none have had the ability to capture what these have. Great drop.

c/s...there is no way we are alone in the universe....every galaxy in that deep field pic has billions of stars and who knows how many planets :smh:...shit is boggling

What is amazing is that we as mankind have been able to look at our universe and figured some of it out and even come up with the facts and figures as we have. We are able to put the Hubble space telescope up there to capture these incredible images and we can calculate the size of stars like VY Canis Majoris. All this knowledge contained in a 2 pound human brain. The human mind is as amazing as the universe is vast. To me all this is, among so many other facts, proof of the existance of God. Great post!

My problem with astronomy is the fact we are presented with animations and one dimensional drwaings. I want to see actual photos. As if it would help, with a government like ours!!

Are you serious....pls post a GOD quote from the bible about life on other planets!!

How could you look at this and not come to the conclusion that there is a VERY VERY VERY strong possiblity that we are not the only civilization (if you wanna call us that) in the Universe?

Good Post, Thanks

Actually, Ive heard that if a star that big died, it would make a blackhole so big that it would start to pull surrounding space into it... Meaning that if that big muthafucka ever died, our Solar system and all surrounding space matter would get sucked into another dimension and no one knows what would happen then. When you think about shit like that, I really feel sorry for the simple minded that think "God" created all this shit when we cant even really fathom exactly how big our universe is.

Many intelligent quantum physicist including Einstein entertained the possibility of a "god" or intelligent being who created it all. If you make a short list of the origins of the universe the possibility of a "god" would be in the top 3 possibilities. Sure the bible or similar holy test probably are not 100 percent accurate but they are no more delusional than our belief that time is unchanging and constant. The possibility that a god created should be respected...

Thats why we got the Japanese and Chinese. They've vowed to hide nothing from their public. So shit will bleed over into America eventually. The photos and video of the Earth Rising and setting over the moon was done by them. It's kinda like the news, if you really want to know whtas goin on in America. Watch the BBC ^^

Asked my Pastor abotu this once. He beleives in Life outside of the Solar system, but said the Bible was written for Man.. here on Earth. So theres no need to mention life elsewhere, if they dont concern it.

Well space is in deed time traveling.
