Wrong ass. I don't care what he put together or how good his ear is, if he didn't create the beat he don't count.
u stupid fuk. producers do more than 'create the beat'.
dudes like u that don't even knowing what tha fuk they're talking about.
so quincy jones didn't create 'the beat' to thriller. guess he needs to remove his name from the producers credits then huh?
george clinton didn't create 'the beat' on most parliament albums. guess he shouldn't be listed as the producer either right?
sheit, paul mccartney didn't create 'the beat' on hey jude. he isn't a producer either i suppose![]()

You are mixing up composers and producers (in the hip hop sense)... the cats you are using for examples know notes and can play music so they can tell a motherfucker what to do so even though they don't necessarily play the music they have a role in creating the music which is very different from buying beats and touching knobs on the EQ which sadly a lot of cat's do that claim to be producers today.
rza is in my top five. he produced 36 chambers, tical, return to the 36 chambers, cuban linx, liquid swords ,iron man and most of wu tang forever in a 4 year span. mind you, each solo album had its own particular sound. rza said in a interview from 92-97 he just in his basement producing. not just making beats but deciding which artist is going to go on which song i.e. ghost had laid a verse after rae on spot rushers. when rza heard it, he was like no that's not going to work and made a beat for that verse which became "wisdom body". the dude didn't even know how big they were until he got into a fight with his wifey and he went to the club and leo DiCaprio started yelling his lyrics in his face. aside from the music, his business model is still followed to this day (slaughter house) group deals and artist with in the group to be able t go to other label and acquire solo deals. shit the last 2 joints he did for ye' (new day , dark fantasy) were crazy. top five yes. the GOAT? if someone argued for him to be it, i wouldn't be mad. his dna is in alot of these producers today.
I already told you I don't care about none of that other shit. If we're discussing music in general then all that shit you talking holds weight but we're talking hip hop and you don't get credit for being a dope producer if all you did was basically do a good ass job at engineering the record. Dope hip hop producers create the beat and add the polish. That's what makes them dope. Now calm your dumb ass down.
so now you were in the studio with dre right stupid azz?![]()
And that sums up why he doesn't get as much mention as them other cats.
i think he aint because all his classics are Wu or Wu Affiliates.
If he produced for more acts outside of Wu, he might be considered one of the best.
JUST BLAZE and KANYE bit his style.

Mannie Fresh better
At what?
Producing, composing, real live instrumentation etc. He basically laid the blueprint for southern beats in general. How many RZA tracks are not samples? Sampling is way easier than making original tracks and making original tracks or interpolating is just smarter business wise. People think a lot of Kanye's tracks are samples but a lot are replays. People don't know about Ken LewisThat's why a lot of these older rap artists pockets are hurting right now because those sample clearances ain't no hoe.

Samples bring a different energy to your sound then live instruments!

Rza has been having people replay the samples he selects and he has been playing keys on top of his shit too, but people don't recognize that a lot of non singles from old Wu albums were on some other shit than just samples. I think the Flood at the Wu-Mansion fucked up a lot of shit and than some where in that Bobby Digital series he went haywire...
As far as the Mannie Fresh thing... listen to those old Cash Money beats... that shit was not complicated. He is way better now.
Complication doesn't mean better. Sometimes less is more. Most of these hits now are simple as fuck but they are still hits at the end of the day. Yea, RZA is a beast with the production. Yea, RZA has made some classic songs but Mannie Fresh is just superior to me. To be honest I never heard RZA in any club ever. To this day, they still play classic Fresh songs in clubs (back that azz up, i need a hotgirl, drag em in the river to name a few) but I'm from the south so I guess that makes a differenceEast coast people, does RZA still get play in the clubs out there??? Better yet, if they do play RZA what are the people doing? Are they dancing or taking that time to hit the bar for more drinks??

Wow... I only talked about complication because you tried to contrast how easy it is to sample over playing keys. As someone who has done both, I can tell you that it depends on the simplicity of the actual creation. I've heard producers tracks along with the originals that they sampled from and have no clue as to how they made his shit. I've heard people make beats around playing four keys over and over again. Shit is all context.
Who gives a fuck about "hits" and what plays in the club...
Anyone who is in the industry cares but I guess they shouldn't care about making hits and getting money. Anyone who actually goes out cares but I guess they are irrelevantAt the Red Bull Academy Mannie Fresh told a story about how he was dj'ing in a N.Y club and the crowd got mad cause he was playing N.Y music and told him they don't wanna hear that shit. They wanna hear HIS music. Keep in mind, this was in N.Y
It's called music BUSINESS (emphasis on the business part) Also, keep in mind that every hit is not a club banger but most club bangers are hits. People been making club songs since forever, way before rap music was even thought of. Even when rap came out, what type of songs were hot?? At the end of the day people want to dance and feel good plain and simple.
