*** HBO Boxing: Jean Pascal vs. Bernard Hopkins II - Official Thread ***

B-Hop is the fucking man. Where's the "B-Hop should sit his old ass down" crowd? This young generation in boxing, I'll tell you, not one of these cats has impressed me lately.

Fuck outta here man. You had it 7-2 after nine. You sure as fuck didnt have him winning a round after 9. Quit the bullshit man.

Dude, I posted it in here... I've even clarified rounds that I thought could go either way.... you seemed to come in here with an agenda, but there is no way B-hop didn't clearly win this shit.

wait.. bhop calling out bute.. i dunno how about that..

That in some ways can be an easier fight because Bute is a slow methodical fighter (depending on who he's fighting), the type of fighter that Bhop pics apart. Pascal's speed, power, and awkwardness are what gave Bhop problems and though Bute is a better fighter than Pascal he may be an easier matchup for Bernard.

Dawson may even give him more problems

Good fucking call eewwll. You called it. Respect to BHop. This is best fight i've seen from him in quite some time man. Dude boxed tonight.

Well..what is surprising is that Bhop is letting his hands go and forcing the fight earlier now... His last few fights have been surprising action-packed man... When does a boxer get into his mid-40s and THEN get aggressive offensively... or maybe he just really realizes he cant be fucking leaving shit it up to the judges too much...even his corner was like..youre winning but remember we are in Canada

 I've said it a million times there are too many motherfuckers who claim to be fans of boxing, but they are really fans of KO's. Pure boxing skills annoy them. They hate the science... so a fighter like B-hop isn't for them.

B hop has been on the losing end of that shit too many times, he didn't want to start getting done like Glencove Johnson on those decisions.

Not only that but where is the "Boxing is dead" and "see this is why I don't watch boxing anymore" niggaz at?

I have to disagree about the young generation though, I've seen some shit lately. Particularly Gamboa, and hell even Ortiz shocked the shit out of me lately but I know where your coming from.

Ok, my apologies if i was wrong. I only remember your 7-2 call because i quoted it.

If he does fight Dawson, it should be interesting. The one thing in Bernard's favor is Dawson's slow pace of fighting. If Chad picked up the pace, I wouldn't give Bernard a chance but something tells me Chad doesn't know how to fight any other way. You could see that in his fight with Pascal. Doubt Steward can change that in this relatively short space of time.

If you look at it, His work since he hit 40 may be his most impressive work..i mean look at the fighters he has beaten over the last several years..to me, this is better than his long 20 fight title defense run at middleweight given his age, weightclass, and caliber of fighters he has beaten..

Not only that there not fans of boxing because they only watch huge PPVs and don't even know when great fights like this are on. They need to be told a fight is great and worthy of watching, real fans know and even if they don't we'll watch two cats who we've never seen in our lives get it on in a four round fight with just as much interest

 @ Pascal asking for a rematch!!! Motherfucker don't you know you just landed 70 damn punches in and entire 12 round fight!?!?! BHop was like, GTFOH, I'm 46 Nigga, what the fuck am I gonna KEEP fight yo ass for and I beat you twice... who the hell do you think you are... Marquez Nigga?!??!?!'

Bhop is moving himself up the all-time great list now... two more wins like this and he might even crack the top 25...

My uncle came over to watch the fight with a couple of his peoples from work and one of them was on some ole he hates Hopkins and he said "Pascal is gonna knock Bernard out this time I think". Me and my uncle looked at each other like :hmm::hmm:
Mind you this same dude is always going on about how Pacquiao would destroy Floyd.

Doing what Hopkins does takes true skill, intelligence and experience. To do what Pascal does, just wing punches and hope one lands, that shit takes no skill, just some athletic ability. That's what separates these older cats like Hopkins and Marquez from these younger dudes like Pascal and Berto. Them dudes are just athletic but they seriously lack skill and schooling.

He has no choice but to talk that shit because there are now no big fights on the horizon for him, he just got knocked cleanly off the big stage. It looks like Dawson vs. Hopkins next, Bute may fight him as a pre fight to fighting the winner if Dawson vs. Hopkins, but after that all the other fighters in the division have little to no name recognition and will give him serious problems. He definitely doesn't want it with Tavoris Cloud.

What he definitely needs is to fire his damn corner and get with a proven trainer who's as student of the game. I think Floyd Mayweather Sr. would be perfect for Pascal because he loves training fighters with speed and he can teach Pascal what he needs most which is proper form, defense, and how to utilize his speed and power.

is b-hop using peds???

While I think it's possible

I think most of it's that he keeps himself in shape 365 days a year. Most fighters when they're not in training don't really train or watch what they eat. Having to keep losing 30 pounds in a short time frame takes a toll on your body. Plus mentally you get tired and aren't as sharp.

Plus his style, he depends on craftiness and intelligence, and not speed.

You might be right.

Yeah. He is still very raw. He sounds like he is willing to learn as well..but still very raw but he has the speed and power to do some real damage...but like someone said...reminds me of a berto-type of fighter who does not have the boxing skills to beat a real elite fighter... he just has a puncher`s chance to land something big but he wont ever outbox a real boxer

There is absolutely no reason to think he's on PED's. As you've said he's never been a Knockout fighter, he's never been the super strong aggressive fighter. He thinks, he defends, he counters and he frustrates, PED's can't do shit for that.

Also PED's in no way increase punching speed, maybe power but not speed, so they in now way would help a fighter like Bernard Hopkins and would probably in fact hurt him IMO

I think his advantage seems to be that he is completely green almost and untaught. He's almost like a clean slate that has experience and won a title.

I think he does have the pure skills but doesn't know how to use them. If he gets with the proper trainer and dedicates himself to learning I think he can reign in those bad habits and be a beast.

Imagine if he had the defense and posture to match that power and speed. It probably won't happen, and in fact I doubt it will but its possible.

The right trainer could probably get something out of him...but yeah...if he tightened up his defense...and also paced himself better...he throws a lot of wild shots..but when he has a fighter hurt, he doesnt seem to know when to follow.... But he can definitely punch.
