a WHOLE lot of fans owe Jada Pinkett an apology

cause the operatic over the top acting style she originated on this show?

Has now become the damn blueprint for every single villain.

I thought this was ALL a ruse by Bruce and Alfred

to solidify the billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne persona to the world.

'Gotham' Season 4 to End With a Cliffhanger

By CHARLIE RIDGELY - November 22, 2017

When Season 3 of Gotham came to a close earlier this year, fans were left in awe as multiple cliffhangers filled the last few minutes of the finale. Butch was revealed to be alive, not to mention the alter ego to Solomon Grundy, Barbara was thought to be dead, Ra's al Ghul disappeared into the shadows and Bruce donned a black suit to go fight crime in the night.

The summer-long wait to see what would happen next was nearly unbearable for the Gothamfaithful. Unfortunately, it looks as though we will have to do it all again in 2018, as Season 4 is prepping for another ambiguous ending.

During an exclusive interview with ComicBook.com, Gotham co-executive producer Bryan Wynbrandt revealed that a cliffhanger is on the way once again.

"While we're leaving a lot on the table, there's going to be plenty left for us to put on the table after this season," Wynbrandt teased. "I mean, we're driving to a really amazing place where, talk about a cliffhanger! It's going to be insane."

This revelation came about when discussing the plans for the various characters heading into Season 5. Wynbrandt explained that the writing team isn't spending a lot of time focusing on the future, instead pouring their hearts into the current season and making it the best it can possibly be.

"Right now, our focus is on the characters we have," said Wynbrandt. "I mean we have I think the biggest cast on television and every one of them deserves their own story. I mean everyone is so good. So right now we're just trying to figure out the best way to service our cast before we introduce anyone else and for us the exciting thing for us is bringing in Jerome, pushing the story forward and we're certainly going to leave this season in a place where people are going to want a Season 5."

Gotham airs new episodes Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.

'Gotham': Robin Lord Taylor Teases Penguin's Upcoming Partnership With Jerome

By CHARLIE RIDGELY - November 22, 2017

If you thought Penguin was dangerous with no one but Zsasz at his side, you're not ready for what the Gotham villain has coming next. In the second half of Season 4, fan-favorite baddie Jerome is making his return to the series, and he's teaming up with ol' Oswald Cobblepot for quite the chaotic partnership.

The Penguin, who so desperately wants to bring order and control to Gotham City, will be working side-by-side with Jerome, who is the physical embodiment of chaos. How on Earth is that going to work out?

We had a chance to speak with Gotham star Robin Lord Taylor about the upcoming partnership, and he explained that, while the two men are complete opposites, they're also a perfect pair.

"Chaos and order," Taylor said of the two characters. "These are two things that are very volatile together. At the same time, they both understand fundamentally what it means to control people."

The actor went on to liken the relationship between Penguin and Jerome to the force of two magnets. They can either instantly attract, or they push as far away from one another as possible.

"So I think when they find each other; it's like magnets," he explained. "Are the poles aligned or are they not? Because they could either snap together or be archenemies until the end of time. We'll have to see."

While the characters are completely polarizing, Robin Lord Taylor has really loved working with Cameron Monaghan, who plays Jerome. The two have never had scenes together until now, but Taylor couldn't say enough about their impeccable chemistry.

"I just had the most amazing episode with Cameron Monaghan. There are very few scenes I've done on the show that I felt so... That captured the full range of human emotion and what you can put a person through, so yeah. It's really incredible."

Gotham airs new episodes on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on Fox, and Jerome is set to make his return to the show in early 2018.

I'm loving this show. DC got it right with this, perfect, great story. The dynamic between Bruce and Alfred is something we never saw before.

this show is really good

and it would be perfect for a TV Batman ...all the characters are spot on

Which is why when this show finally does end there needs to be a way to bring this over to the CW Arrowverse without having to do recasts(well except maybe for Bruce)

Zaz went from my favorite Character, to my most hated person on the show in a matter of seconds. :smh:

That was some fuck shit he pulled.

If he wasnt a real DC character, I would have looked forward to the day Penguin killed him :)

This shit keeps getting better and better. I love it how no villains really die. Just like in the old comics
I wouldn't be surprised if Pig still around and that mofo who wanted to kill Bruce Wayne

Gotham May Be Recasting The Scarecrow For Season 4
Scarecrow-on-Gotham.jpg

It looks as if yet another Gotham villain will be recast, as a new report indicates a new face will wear the Scarecrow mask later this season. The midseason finale of Gotham brought back Jerome in its final moments, teasing another villainous wave that’s about hit the city. The last time the quasi-Joker was on the warpath, he came face to face with Bruce Wayne. With the young billionaire shirking his crime-fighting duties, could Jerome’s return see Bruce suit up once again?

It may not be Jerome that causes the future Dark Knight to embrace his destiny, however, as it’s long been hinted that Bruce will face the Scarecrow. That didn’t happen when the villain returned at the beginning of season 4, with his suit and powers finally acquired. Instead, the Scarecrow fled from Jim Gordon and Bruce eventually gave up his vigilante ways. Now, it looks as if Jonathan Crane will be back to bring fear to Gotham City—and he may be played by a whole new actor.

That Hashtag Show got their hands on a character breakdown for Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow that confirms the rogue will be back in episode 17 and 18 of season 4 when it returns for the spring season. But from the look of the information (and from what THS told us when we reached out to them), Crane may be recast before his return.

[JONATHAN CRANE] Male, Early to Mid 20s. Caucasian. After being dosed with a fear toxin developed by his late father, Jonathan Crane was paralyzed by fear, until he learned to turn that fear on others. Dressing up as a scarecrow, he now uses home-made fear toxin to terrorize Gotham. Erratic, terrifying, and psychopathic, he no longer identifies as “Jonathan Crane,” preferring to go by his true name — “Scarecrow”…. RECURRING GUEST STAR, ALSO APPEARS IN EPISODE 417 & EPISODE 418

Typically, the return of a character would be an announcement unto itself. This breakdown, however, looks like a casting call given the character description and broad details on the actor. In season 1 and earlier in season 4, Crane was played by Charlie Tahan. It seems that won’t be the case when Scarecrow comes back to Gotham in episode 17, though.

This wouldn’t be the first time Gotham recast a villain. The show’s take on Poison Ivy has been played by both Clare Foley and Maggie Geha. When last we saw her, she’d taken a mystery cocktail of chemicals that’s said to give the character her comic book powers. What’s more, but it will also change her appearance as Peyton List will play the third version of Poison Ivy when Gotham returns. The midseason premiere trailer for Gotham teased the villains arrival, hinting she’ll play a role in Bruce becoming Batman. Likely, Scarecrow’s return will give the young hero his first real rogue.

Given Crane was also doused in strange chemicals, we could see the actor change explained away due to some transformation. Of course, it would have made more sense to pull that move before Crane returned this season given he’d been away for almost three years. Regardless of how Gotham will explain the change, Scarecrow will be back for a second half of the season that looks like it will be packed with Batman villains.

Gotham Officially Casts New Actor As Scarecrow
Scarecrow-in-Season-4-of-Gotham.jpg

Gotham has officially recast the role of Scarecrow, confirming rumors that originally surfaced a number of weeks ago. The infamous Batman villain reappeared in Gotham‘s season four premiere, with Jonathan Crane (played by Charlie Tahan) transforming into his infamous masked alter ego and setting off to instill fear into the heart of Gotham City. The baddie’s reign of terror was short-lived however, as he narrowly escaped being captured by the GCPD in episode two and hasn’t been seen since.

Gotham has history when it comes to re-casting its villains. The character of Poison Ivy was originally played by young actress Clare Foley but ahead of the show’s third season, the decision was made to switch Ivy from a young girl into an adult woman in the form of Maggie Geha. This was explained on-screen by the convenient introduction of a character who had the ability to rapidly age people through touch. Strangely, the role of Ivy has been recast again for future episodes, with Peyton List taking over from Geha.

Ivy isn’t the only Gotham villain on a casting Merry-Go-Round however, as David W. Thompson is officially confirmed to be taking over from Tahan as the Scarecrow. According to TVLine, the decision was not a creative one but was in fact due to Tahan’s role in Netflix series Ozark, with the actor unable to balance filming on both series. Thompson is set to debut as the villain when Gotham returns this Spring, confirming rumors that originally surfaced towards the end of 2017.

The news may come as somewhat of a disappointment to many fans, as Charlie Tahan’s performance as Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow was largely well received. The young actor was completely believable as a young Cillian Murphy and managed to deliver a sinister blend of unhinged and menacing. Perhaps the biggest question hanging over Scarecrow’s return, however, is whether David W. Thompson will be playing Jonathan Crane, or whether he’ll be playing another character who will take over the Scarecrow mantle. This would leave the door open for Tahan to potentially return at a later date.

It’s difficult to be too critical of Gotham‘s latest re-casting, as scheduling conflicts with actors are largely out of the show’s control. Having said that, there’s only so many times a single series can plausibly get away with switching actors and, with Poison Ivy swapping faces faster than Jim Gordon swaps love interests, the new Scarecrow has plenty to prove when he returns later this season.

Gotham returns March 1st with “Pieces Of A Broken Mirror” on Fox.
