Certainly, Certainly everything you've said is valid. But, like i stated earlier and this is completely my own opinion, i really think it's a all ruse! Let's use your statement to illustrated my point exactly
Your conclusions are:
1) Regardless of his parentage he's a bastard
2) He's a Night Watch so he's stuck
To point one:
We have no idea who his parent or "parents" are? Consider this entire time the show has been quite coy with this information. Also, consider Neds last words to Jon before they separated, something along the lines of "When I get back we'll speak about your mother" their something in his tone and that entire exchange and overall mood concerning Jon that suggests theirs a whole lot more going on than just a bastard.
Further, everything about Ned all the way to his beheading suggest that he holds his honor/vows scared. I personally and *SERIOUSLY doubt he cheated on Cat /w some strange women and had Jon and then further brought him into his home.
Their more to that story my friend I can smell it!
Point two the Nights Watch:
You have me here because I don't know much about their vows, BUT their has to be a way to get out of it. Invariably, that way foreshadows the importance of Jon *Snow i think.
You gotta figure it has to be something serious that would allow an *exception for a person e to leave the Black and if that's the case I'm betting that's the exception Jon will get.
This show has been about deception from the beginning lulling you to sleep, foreshadowing. Considering what happened at the red wedding I'm surprise folks are still putting things past.
I could be completely wrong here...But..fool me once
[sarcasm] Wait, you got all this from JUST watching the show! JUST paying attention! NO! This is, this is a trick!, This is a spoiler, you read the books, NO ONE could possibly figure that from the show alone! [/sarcasm]
Most epics, and such have the underdog becoming the savior of mankind and winning in the end.
Sword in the stone,
Cinderella,
Beowulf, etc.
Jon Snow as a Targ is popular, and makes sense. It's not as if Ned could have told Robert B!
A little encouragement to join the Night's Watch and Ned would have considered him safe from harm as the laws of the kingdom goes. Safe from the King.
If alive, I wonder if BenJen Stark knows anything?
If he is a Targ, I suspect/hope it might help in the fight against the, " Others ". Fire vs Ice n all. Not that he's meant to be the king.
Of course that all seems to obvious and this
is Game of Thrones, not LOTR.
