Game Of Thrones: The Sopranos with swords or Dynasty in chainmail?

It'd crazy because even after reading the books, the show cinematics in the show are amazing. i like the slight alterations they made in the scene of Ned's death on the show over the book. In the book, they made it seem like everyone just chilled when Joffrey gave the death order but on the show, they portrayed it to be frantic and everyone being like WTF is this dumb ass king doing.

i feel the daughter should have stopped fucking with the lannister clan once the boy got her wolf killed period.
being a princess was more important than being a stark, so sure she might have had a change of heart, BUT it was too late, she was in too deep for me to have sympathy for her. the littlest one was fine and had no opinions on the starks, soon as the incident happened she stopped fucking with them period...

he was arrested and an enemy of the lannisters because his wife kidnapped the gimp...and lost him.
he trusted little finger because his wife begged him to not kill him on sight and to trust him as a friend of the family.. :smh:

ned's dead because of them and because of himself trusting family and listening when his instincts told him otherwise.
then discarding his honor confessing to shit that wasn't true to save his ass and got killed.

all its gonna do is make mr snow leave his post and come through and kill shit with the wolf blade

This is why alot of people like Arya more than Sansa,Sansa is ashamed to be a Stark while Arya is proud but cant do the stuff men cant do...This is the reason reason why I think Ned hired a "dancing teacher" because she's more like her brothers than Sansa.

I agree that Sansa should of said something when Joffrey was interfering Arya's sparring with the butchers boy...Even Robert had a feeling Joffrey escalated the whole thing but knew Cersei wouldnt tolerate it..

ned had to go at this point though, everybody mad but its real in the field.
too many fuck ups
too much misguided views
he playing fair while everyone is playing foul
i wasn't surprised he died at all.
that scene to me was all about the youngest and her heart. bout to move through the crowd and kill some motherfuckers over pops..

i think rob has shed his timidness at this point. i think he has his fathers values and he has his fathers code of honor. he damn sure thinks things through like his dad but i think he just doesn't trust ANYONE but starks which will save him. he only applies that shit to his family ned applied it to everyone assuming everybody was a man and the same.

rob's gonna come through

c/s

sansa is about the most annoying bitch in this book behind vierys, her fathers death is mostly her fault.

I wouldnt say everything her fault but she did contribute it even though she didnt know it would come out this way...But I will say this Catelyn was the one who got very reckless when she kidnapped Tyrion, like me and few people said a couple of weeks ago she should allowed Ned to talked to Robert about the situation....:smh::smh::smh::smh:

Fuck wasn't expecting that.:smh:

Can't wait til next week

They is going to have the best scene in the book,Im glad they put it in show

:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

Im not sure why Ned's death would put off anyone from watching the show.

Admittedly I havent watched the show, but in the books Ned comes off as a complete retard, to me. He would always rather do the "honorable" thing rather then doing the right thing.

Glad to see that the show is well done though.

The show did a good job of capturing that as well...he was too noble to the point of being unlikeable...and there was a lot of foreshadowing leading up to it...when Jaime stepped to him and he ended up getting stabbed in the leg...watching him hobble around I pitied him and not in a good way...he looked like a dude that was behind the times and not willing to adapt to his situation @ all...he reminded me of a hurt dog on its last leg...I had a glimmer of hope for his character when Robert passed the crown to him but once Cersei ripped that paper up I knew it was a wrap for him...not to sound cliche but she was playing chess to his checkers...the show is realistic...and I love it for that...did ppl expect to see more drawn out dungeon scenes between him/Varys until an inexperienced Robb easily defeated the Lannisters stormed the castle and run into his father's arms? Not realistic...nor was the idea of Cersei bannishing him to the Wall...she woulda kept him alive as a bargaining chip but woulda mroe than likely killed him if he couldn't be used to squash Robb's effort...the good guys don't always win the day...sometimes shitty ppl are the victors specifically bcuz of their shitty ass ways and I love this show for recognizing that

Catelyn fucked up by promising her son's hand to one of Lord Frey's daughters. (Watch what happens...)

She didn't stop to consider how Robb or how Arya would feel?
Robb should of went in their to litigate with the Bridgemaster.

She is impulsive.

Ned's dead! He went out like a bitch too. at least they could have made him reject that cunt and her faggot son.:angry::angry:

I won't call dude a bitch cuz he was ready to die until Varys reminded him of his daughters...and again I like the show's realistic approach to the characters' decisions...he didn't come out there talking some noble shit about dying for what he believed in bla bla bla...he came out there to save his daughters...and that's the realest I ever seen his character so it actually hurt that he gave up his honor/pride everything he stood for to save his daughters' life only to have to die labeled a "traitor" by his own "admission"...that was fucked up

The way he went out is more interesting though. To have him go out in the typical Hollywood blaze of glory that most heroes we see on screen do, with a witty line or some deep quote, would be cliche and not what this show or apparently the books are about.

I haven't read the books but from what its posted they, and now obviously this show, won't follow a typical Hollywood script which makes it more intriguing because there are no rules and unless you've read the books you won't know what happens.

You damn right! :lol::yes:

And for goodness sakes people. This show is based off of a BOOK.They didn't pull Ned Stark's death out of their ass.

They are following that shit to the tee.

Ned served his purpose for the Game Of Throne series. Now after next week, let's cross our fingers and hope they continue with "A Clash Of Kings".

ned's dead because of them

Disagree...Ned is dead due to 2 things in large...tipping Cersei's hand about his knowledge of Joffrey...as someone said how the fuck he gonna have mercy on her and her seed when she left his a cripple and then hired someone to try to assassinate him...then when he was "declared" king pending Robert's death he had 2 offers one from Robert's brother I think and another from Little Finger...he was given advice to "secure" Joffrey and use that to force the Queen's hand into recognizing he would be king...what does he do? Show up w/ that piece of paper in his hand and then pretty much give it to the bitch (yes I know he didn't give it to her directly)...Ned played the game wrong and lost...the show is subtitled "you win or you die"... NED HAD THE CROWN...he didn't take proper precautions to secure it and that's when he was pretty much done...Lannisters did all this fucked up shit and this nigga still was tip-toeing around the fuckin situation...he sealed his own fate...

Right...even his own twisted mother

Did she? I thought she made that lil' bitch ass nigga the bitch that he is? I thought his mother planted that shit in his head to go with the murder?

And this shit ain't the FINALE?!

And I don't follow the books so I didn't see that shit coming at all. Sean Bean is probably the most recognizable actor on the show along with Peter Dinklage(?) and I didn't see them offing off his character so soon.

Fuck wasn't expecting that.:smh:

Can't wait til next week

Damn I didn't get to see the preview since I dled the last ep...man y'all gone be buggin the fuck out when y'all see some shit...I amped already

It'd crazy because even after reading the books, the show cinematics in the show are amazing.

Ya man!

I owe I think it was Outlaw ROC a lil bit of an apology cuz we got into a kinda book vs. tv debate and I see his point a bit better now about visuals being a plus...the book and the show go well hand-in-hand

Did she? I thought she made that lil' bitch ass nigga the bitch that he is? I thought his mother planted that shit in his head to go with the murder?

And this shit ain't the FINALE?!

I believe she woulda killed Ned eventually...but as it is she felt that it was too early...you can see the dismay on her face when he said that...I think she even had to be restrained...Ned was more valuable as a hostage until the situation w/ Robb was done...Ned + Sansa were potential bargaining chips...w/ Ned dead now it's all hell let loose on them niggas

Ya the book/show have been an amazing ride...by the time the 2nd season begin I'll have read the whole series...y'all said the 5th book comes out in July?

Quote re: the author...and the show's producers/writers seem to believe this as well!

No one is given an unrealistic string of luck, however; so misfortune, injury, and death (and even false death) can befall any character, major or minor, no matter how attached the reader has become. Martin has described his penchant for killing off important characters as being necessary for the story's depth: "...when my characters are in danger, I want you to be afraid to turn the page, (so) you need to show right from the beginning that you're playing for keeps."

great post

Catelyn fucked Rob with that decision and a certain event going to happen because of it...

Catelyn needs to sit her ass down somewhere....:smh:

I read the books so I know what you're talking about. What happens later is totally on Rob. Still being his father's son

Catelyn had to do whatever it took to get Rob's forces across the river or they were screwed.

yep, July 12th I think. But get ready for along ass delay for the next one. Martin is averaging 5 years per book for the last 2.

You didn't catch the part where Robb said he would do whatever it took to get across that River. This is medieval fantasy. People get married to cement alliances all the time. What happens downstream is Totally on Robb

I don't even think it was an issue of Ned being too noble I just think he was out of his element and in over his head as soon as he left Winterfell. Ned is a soldier nothing more. And he never wanted more. If you recall there was a moment when they said after the mad kings death Ned was in a positon to take the throne and didn't which allowed Robert to become king. He never wanted any part of that shit so when he was thrust into he was, as Young Buck would say "confrused".

The Lannisters, on the other hand, are born into that shit. Its in their blood and their taught nothing more from birth. The best example of this would be the beginning of episode 7 when Tywin was talking to his son Jaimie. It was almost more a professor talking to his pupil. He allowed Jaimie to explain himself, chastised and corrected him, gave council and sent him on his way.

The Lannisters were taught to think, plot, deceive, and carry that shit out. Ned was born and taught to follow.

Him going against the Lannisters without some type of backing (intellectually and politically speaking) would be like sending an inexperienced amateur boxer in the ring against a prime Mike Tyson.

TWICE!!! Ned could have taken the throne at the end of the war to begin with if you remember what Jaime said? They had the throne and Ned installed Robert as King pretty much. Ned could've taken the throne for his own years ago! Jaime sat in it, and Ned made him get up!

You didn't catch the part where Robb said he would do whatever it took to get across that River. This is medieval fantasy. People get married to cement alliances all the time. What happens downstream is Totally on Robb

I did.

But by whatever, I don't think he thought about giving up his hand in marriage to a Frey girl. Didn't you see the hesitation in his eyes when Catylen asked him if it was fine?Lord Frey expects him to be about his word; go against it, and you know what could happen...

He couldn't of said no to Catylen and Frey's deal, because turning down such an arrangement would of completely destroyed his chances of crossing the bridge.

He should have went in there in the first place to bargain with Lord Frey; he shouldn't of sent in his mother.

Did she? I thought she made that lil' bitch ass nigga the bitch that he is? I thought his mother planted that shit in his head to go with the murder?

See i knew from the very beginning Ned had to die in order to advance the other characters. His kids and so on. After watching the first episode i predicted that joint.

That's just something in storytelling you've got to do. They need a catalyst to make them JUMP. Ned's death was the perfect Catalyst to make everyone else hop to it. I LOVED this episode!

I believe she woulda killed Ned eventually...but as it is she felt that it was too early...you can see the dismay on her face when he said that...I think she even had to be restrained...Ned was more valuable as a hostage until the situation w/ Robb was done...Ned + Sansa were potential bargaining chips...w/ Ned dead now it's all hell let loose on them niggas

agreed. She didn't want Ned dead. Not like that anyway, she knew that it would rally everyone against them.

‎"You think my life is such a precious thing to me, that I would trade my honor for a few more years...of what?" - Ned Stark

I don't think he traded his honor for his life, but I think he compromised it for his daughters. Like the blind Targaryen at the Wall told John Snow "Love is the death of duty" and it proved to be a fatal flaw for Ned. Women and children have and will always be the achilles heel of strong men...

I also believe Lady Stark is the main catalyst for all of this, the Little Finger character has never gotten over her or her sister, and he seems to be the real puppetmaster of events

This episode was like watching Empire Strikes Back, all your favorites were done in

Jason Momoa can't wait for fans to hear what Khal Drogo will say next, especially following last week's shocking Game of Thrones conclusion, in which he gave his brother-in-law Viserys a "golden crown" of molten death.

In last Sunday's episode, "You Win or You Die" (airing 9/8c on HBO), an enraged Drogo delivers a lengthy speech after his wife Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) is threatened. It not only reveals his martial side, but also shows that the previously quiet leader of the nomadic Dothraki can string together more than a couple words.

"I'm dying for my friends to see me make the speech," Momoa tells TVGuide.com. "My friends who watch the show all just keep saying, 'Dude, you don't say anything. You're just naked!' And I'm like, 'I swear to God, I say stuff!' Drogo makes this beautiful war speech and dedicates it to his wife. He's going to f--- some s--- up."

Up until now, the khal has been taking more of the imposing, silent partner role in the marriage -- having wordless sex in a tent and occasionally grunting while sitting next to the campfire. "I base him off of a silverback or a lion," Momoa says. "It was my first time ever to play a king kind of role. You wanted to make him stone-faced, sort of impenetrable. Being arrogant was fun, you know? But when I go back home after work, my wife would slap me back down. She's like, 'You have to take the garbage out.'"

Although Khal Drogo isn't relegated to garbage duty in his marriage, Daenerys does have an influence on him. "He's a super-stoic character but when he falls in love with this beauty, you slowly start to find his heartstrings," Momoa says. "He warms up to someone, which is something he's never done before. Drogo is starting to open up."

Although playing such a role and dealing with its rigorous language requirements were new to Momoa, physically at least, he seemed born to play Drogo. In fact, he had just finished shooting Conan the Barbarian, the remake of the classic Arnold Schwarzenegger film in which Momoa plays the titular warrior. When he went on to shoot Game of Thrones in Belfast, Ireland, he found the muscle mass acquired to play Conan helpful to embody Drogo.

25sxtn4.gif

"It was great coming off of Conan because it was really hard training," says the actor. "For Conan I had to eat boiled chicken breast and work out all the time and basically eat like a bird every two hours and stay ripped. But I'm bigger in Game of Thrones. Drogo is like 7-feet tall in the book. So after training really hard for five months, when I got to Ireland, I had Guinness, pizza, spaghetti and whatever I wanted. You put all that fat on top of the muscle and you look heavyweight. I gained so much weight. Later, we had to go back for a photo shoot and I was 30 pounds lighter. I didn't even fit into my wardrobe, the minimal wardrobe that I had."

Even though Drogo doesn't wear much clothing, the actor found that the hair and makeup helped him get into character. Among the Dothraki, the length of one's braid indicates their success in battle. Drogo remains undefeated, which is why he's the khal. Another touch added to the character -- that wasn't described in George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels on which Game of Thrones is based -- is his heavy eyeliner.

"It was interesting to find a wig that wasn't too heavy but was long enough," Momoa reveals. "They clipped it on in the back and wove it in. The eyeliner thing came about just because in doing the research, you learn the nomads travel across plains and deserts. They always wear the eyeliner so it reflects the sun. That's why I designed it for that. I thought it would be a good character trait."

Luckily, the actor didn't have to contend with any makeup malfunctions, namely runny eyeliner.

Quite the opposite in fact. "No, it didn't run," he says. "I had so much on I guess it completely caked everywhere."

In fact, Momoa found he had difficulty removing the eyeliner at the end of the night, which created some difficulties when walking around Belfast.

"The show wanted me to keep my own mustache so I had this horrible '70s porn mustache on," he says. "So I was walking around Belfast -- I'm dark-skinned and 6-foot-5, with eyeliner and a really disgusting mustache -- and I'd have to apologize to people and say, 'Listen, I'm sorry. I'm working here. No, not as a transvestite, but I'm working on a show.'"

Game of Thrones airs Sundays at 9/8c on HBO.

This post just about sums it up.

Ned was doomed from the mnute he set foot out've Winterfell. :smh::smh::smh:

Daeynaris however you spell it, the Khaleesi that shit had me hyped. I'm not feeling her showing after 2 episodes ago she wasn't but ok....anyway. The blood magic, all of that i knew she was messin up then. I'm like nah girl everyone telling you this ain't going to work out. This ain't cool. But she not listening. I know my main man Drogo HAS to die to elevate her story but DAAAAAAANNNG why like that!? Have him die on his feet! In an epic mano y mano! Man that's weak to kill that brutha off like that.

Crappy.

Everybody in my house hates Sansa lol. We all love Tyrion and Bron and none of us find that much blame and fault with what Caetlyn did. She was trying to save her son and she knew that the old man wouldn't hurt her. They didn't want Rob taken hostage and given to Tywin. She's lost enough kids she didn't want to lose anymore. And she got the job done.

And the thing about marriage like that, it doesn't really MATTER how you feel about it but Rob had to cross that bridge with his army before Tywin could get there. We're lovin Rob right now, i hope more than anything he lives through this, but i got a feeling he's not going too.

Something is going to have to happen for Snow to come down off that wall. I think them killing Rob is what's going to do it.
