Game Of Thrones season 2: The night is dark and full of terror................

So what's up with the hound? What made him suddenly lose interest in killing people and being loyal to Joffrey. I feel like I must have missed something.

The Cleganes (Gregor (The Hound) and his brother Sandor (The Mountain)) are a bannermen to the Lannister, so that's the root of their Loyalty. The Hound was named as sworn sword (think personal bodyguard) to Joffrey before he was king

I think their loyalty went to whoever let them indulge themselves in cruelty and violence. The difference in the Hound is that he seems to have limits to what he will do versus his brother. Also there's that fear of fire thing

So add up the threat of being set on fire, the seemingly hopeless battle and just getting tired of Joffrey's shit he basically said fuck it.

^^^ The DIFFERENCE between Cersei's bad decisions and Catelyn's. Neither of them know shit about playing the Game of Thrones. Both of them are pieces but Lannister wealth both shields Cersei and allows her to act like a player.

It's true that neither of them know how to play the game, but Catelyn knows she's an novice at the game at best. She falls back on her maternal instincts to guide her which you can't really hate her for. Cersei actually thinks she's on the same level as Littlefinger and Varys. That's why she so dangerous (to her enemies and her friends).

The hound isnt much of a bad guy compare to his brother....:dunno:

I will say this,Ill give her alot of credit for warning Rob about the Frey's last season...

Good points. That makes sense too. Cersi does think that she is on a level with some of the guys. She strikes me as someone who thinks that she could be king if she was a man. In some ways I think Joff gets his arrogance from her. She knows she has money, and great security behind her. As people have said, her recklessness isn't as risky, or a clear to see as Cate's because there are tons of people willing to cover it up for her.

I don't know if you've read the books or not, but you're batting a 100 with your assessment there.

I got that vibe from Cersi this last episode. I definitely think that she believes she could play the game better than any of them had she been born a male. I can't front though...reckless sexual habits or not... she's fared better in the game thus far than most of her competitors. She definitely has a handle on the truth/illusion shit. I'd hate to have her as a baby's mama.

I clicked on the wiki link and read ahead on Sansa and Arya.... I wish I hadn't. :smh::smh::smh:

STAY AWAY from the Wiki my friend. I've now caught up to the wiki through reading the books, but I SPOILED several things for myself by reading the wiki when I was new to the show/novels. :smh::smh:

Thank God that GRRM is such a good writer that reading stuff I already knew about from the Wiki, was still intriguing and made for a great read.

:lol: I learned my lesson last year reading fucking Wiki and found out Ned Stark got beheaded in the books:eek::eek::eek::eek:

It fucked it up for me a little but it still didn't ruin the suspense because I still felt that they probably wouldn't do it on the TV show since he was the star, I figured they would change it and save him some how. Now looking back I'm glad they stuck to the books.

I also found out a few other things but they seem to be a ways away. But I'll never go fishing for info again.

the books & show are definately different.

not to much, but different. i just listened to sansas' part

from when the hound was in her room! tv made him seem "nice".

i see why she didnt go with him. in the book dude had a knife to her throat,

on some light weight rape shit! they made him soft & comfy on tv!

he has an intense fear of fire, and watching all those people being burned up fucked him up.

yea and he made her sing for him, then he cried before leaving.

I do have one question that keeps bugging: WHO THE FUCK ARE THE VALERIANS and why does everyone keep banging on about their metallurgical skills?

I'm looking forward to the season finale. I know it's gonna be good.

I thought the same thing but then I wonder will it be a let down after the last episode.

I have a feeling they might do more to set up the next season instead of having a great episode.

I hope its both but thats sort of what they did last season. After Ned got beheaded they used episode 10 more to set up season 2 than anything. It was still a good episode but was sort of a letdown after the excitement and shock of the 9th episode.

But the fact that this episode is 70 minutes makes me think it may be official and they may leave it on some cliffhanger shit:dance:

I do have one question that keeps bugging: WHO THE FUCK ARE THE VALERIANS and why does everyone keep banging on about their metallurgical skills?

Valyrian steel is a magical alloy invented in Valyria and used to make weapons of unparalleled quality. It is the spells and magic that make the steel special.[1] Valyrian steel blades are lighter, stronger, and sharper than even the best castle-forged steel, and feature distinctive rippled patterns similar to Damascus steel. Most Valyrian steel blades in Westeros are treasured heirlooms of noble houses, each with its own name and storied history. It is likely that most of the Valyrian steel swords were brought to westros by the Targaryens, after the Doom of Valyria.
Only the greatest weaponsmiths can reforge swords from existing Valyrian steel, but the secret of creating such an alloy was apparently lost with Valyria, making those remaining weapons highly treasured and extremely rare. The blacksmiths of Qohor claim to know how to reforge Valyrian steel,
From awoiaf.westeros.org

The swords aren't really magical, they are just based higher technology than what the rest of the world uses. Given two swords of equal strength and ability, the one wielding Valyrian steel would probably win because it's lightness allows the wielder to fight longer and swing it quicker.

Tywin
Me and a dear friend have discussed him and what he stands for and all of his qualities... He's as likeable and honorable as Ned was in my opinion he's just on the "wrong" side. he's never outwardly nervous he's always there to protect and save his family he's just real... when they came, i thought i saw his banners but it didn't compute because i thought they were supposed to march on rob...
but when they opened the door to the throne room and ole boy walked in first, i knew who would be walking in after
Tywin is the saving grace
the look in Cersi's eyes said it all... he's always there and always has been, he isn't all outwardly i love you give me a hug and all that shit and he doesn't need to be.
He shows his love by giving his kids confidence (making Tyrion the acting hand) and showing up and handling the business when needed like tonight. That was just very well done very very well done.

You couldn't be more wrong about Tywin. While he does love Jamie & Cersei, his love for them is more for how they (with their physical "perfection")represent him. This is also why he hates Tyrion (that and the fact that his beloved wife dide giving birth to him). Tywin cares about the Lannister name & standing, and will do anything to ensure that they stay the richest & most powerful family in the 7 kingdoms.

The series really diminished the role that Tyrion played in saving Kings Landing from King Stannis & his forces. In the book, Tyrion commissioned the making of a large chain that was strecheched across the Blackwater Bay (just below the surface so ships could sail into the bay) that was used to trap Stannis's ships when the wildfire was ignited (which he also discovered and commissioned the "wizards" to make a lot of). and Tywin didn't come riding in to save the day and claim the glory like that.

whenever i face difficult situations i always ask myself

ichgg7GkfncNh.gif

:lol::lol: The simple answer: Either run like a bitch, cry then lie about it, or have someone else do it.

First scene next week is going to be Stannis' head on a spike

:smh::smh::smh:

i doubt they take any glory away from him for this it was people he led that night he was right in front striking first that will not be forgotten so easily.

You must've forgotten who came riding up in full glory AFTER Tyrion had rallied the troops, and was struck down. It was his father, Tywin. All people will remember iis Twin riding in on his white horse with the Lannister banner flying high.

Another reason why he cares about family name is because he thought his father was weak...

George R.R. Martin, the fantasy novelist behind HBO's Game of Thrones -- think castles, knights and dragons -- may be the world's most unsuspecting sports enthusiast. (He watched all three days of the NFL draft; how about you?) The New York Jets and Giants fan gave SI a few minutes of his precious time:

SI: Based on your work, you seem an unlikely sports fan.

MARTIN: A lot of that dates to our childhoods, when the world divides us into jocks and nerds. But there are always the nerds who, though not jocks, are still into sports. Believe it or not, I worked four summers in college as a sports writer covering baseball for a parks and rec department in Bayonne, N.J.

SI: You could have wound up at SI!

MARTIN: Well, then I wrote two science fiction football stories: Amazing Stories published one called Run to Starlight, about a game against aliens; and Gallery ran one called The Last Super Bowl. I predicted computer sports would replace real sports. I had the last Super Bowl in 2014, between the Packers and the Hoboken Jets.

SI: That's fantasy football.

MARTIN: I do get invitations all of the time to play actual fantasy football, by the way, but I get the feeling that I'd like it too much. I have enough demands on my time. My fans would kill me.

SI:
Yes, your fans are known to be very... anxious. If you had to bet, which will happen first: Your next book is published? Or your Jets win a Super Bowl?

MARTIN: Probably my next book.

SI:
You sound defeated.

MARTIN: I have to have the next book out in less than five years. And I think the Jets have taken a step back.
SI: Can we out any sports nerds? Have any pro athletes ever reached out to you as fans?

MARTIN: More often it's people in sports who work for teams in non-playing capacities. I think that in all of my time I got just one fan letter, from an NFL fullback named Darian Barnes. NFL players might not have enough time for my books.
SI: A popular internet story recently imagined Game of Thrones characters as politicians -- Barack Obama as Robb Stark, George W. Bush as Hodor -- can we try this with the NFL?

MARTIN: Sure. The Mountain, Sir Gregor Clegane, is 8 feet tall. He would make a hell of a lineman.

SI: Tim Tebow?

MARTIN: There's one minor knight (in Dances With Dragons, the latest book) named Sir Bonifer who is very pious -- Tebow would be him. And Mark Sanchez, a young talented guy, he would be Sir Loras Tyrell (who readers would know from Season 2 on television).

SI: What about the families: Are the Starks, say, the Green Bay Packers?

MARTIN: Whenever I propose analogies like that, fans jump in with their own ideas, but it depends on what team you root for. To me, the Starks are heroes, so they would be the Giants.

SI: And the Patriots, the archenemies?

MARTIN: Maybe those would be the Lannisters.

What are the expectations for tomorrow's season finale

I hope they dont mess it up....I hope we get to see a certain character since she/he/it plays an important part next season......

They need to do something with Arya's story though, her story wasnt good.. Atleast it was better than Daenery's story though....:smh::smh::smh::smh:

Explain this. I don't recall. Please. Thanks.

The thing is, I don't understand why they didn't do it like in the book. I haven't read up to this point, but I don't know why they didn't have him do her like in the books. He didn't rape her and painting him as a quasi decent guy is pointless. Simply put, he is better than his brother, but that ain't saying much.

I don't expect anything on the level of what we saw last week. I expect them to set things up for next season more than anything.

I think anything with Tyrion will deal with his disappointment and the realization that his sister or someone tried to have him offed ( I don't see him getting any credit or recognition for saving the Lannisters)

I expect Joffrey to be Joffrey, he'll talk shit and act big like he won some shit and saved the day. However it looks like in the previews that he'll have to share it with his grandfather and he doesn't look pleased about it.

It looks like Arya will join with and be trained or guided in some way by Jaquen H'agar

Last season Rob needed to cross the house of Frey's bridge and needed his blessing and permission to cross. Rob was being advised and was going to just rush the bridge and cross by force.

This could have not only made an enemy of house Frey but also caused someone in house Frey or associated with them to alert the Lannisters of Rob's presence and potentially plans.

Robs mother gave him good advice on how to handle it (against what the men were saying) and she went into house Frey and negotiated Robs usage of the bridge in return for him marrying one of the Frey daughters and Arya marrying one of the sons.

Oh, thanks. I remember that. i thought it was something else. Sometimes the details get lost on me when I haven't seen something in a while.

The House Frey is gonna be pissed when he wants to marry whom he wants to marry and not one of their ugly ass daughters.

I hope they dont make Daenery's story the last one.......Her looking for her dragons is fucking stupid....:smh:
