Google listens to its end users. people want this and that they get it...
shit when google wave is ready to launch email n text combined with grand central...next wave of communication not to mention the push to talk app on the G1....
att is getting 2 androids and verizon gets one altho both companies want to brand them with their own ui's...and tmo by end of the year will have several hell by september they might might have 5 or 6 androids....
android is doing what blackberry does multiple carriers but a open source community where unless u want to u dont gotta jail break ur phone just to make it do what u want...
android is the future.
flash is in the rosie rom but u gotta root ur phone to install it.
adobe said they will have flash full flash on all phones except the iphone by end of the year. apple doesn't want it and doesn't feel their users would either and b/c it would violate their programs.

u have to flash ur phone(root it) and add the hero rom...

they also have a version of the rom available for download, but you need to root your phone before you can install it......
I'm new to this whole thing. Root?? What exactly is that and what are the cons of doing it?
I didn't know that they put flash on that rom but it's good to know. almost makes me want to root my phone and install it........
basically rooting a G1 is about the same as unlocking or Jailbreaking an Iphone. It allows you acces to the phones core systems and let's you do other things like install different roms and better cusomizations. check out the XDA-Developers website for more info. those guys are sick with it...........

What are the cons of "rooting" your phone, during or after rooting??
the biggest con is you can brick your phone and have to pay to replace it. If you do decide to go that route there are step by step instructions on how to do it. but as I said you run the risk of killing your phone.............

All makers even will make a solar powered android phone(battery low give phone some sun battery back)
The Mytouch will be 1st out in July followed by I think the samsung i7500 then motorola will be dropping 3 to 5 phones by end of the year with samsung dropping a few more n htc dropping a few along with other companies.
Att is slated to get two but they want a custom att brand UI so they are taking a while. Verizon will get one by end of the year but they too want a custom UI.
Tmo will be getting most of them.
Sprint said fuck android but now r saying maybe n if the pre doesnt do well they may turn to android since pre exclusivity ends in 2010.
Currently google is developing the 2.0 Donut OS for phones launching at end of summer to fall but rumors r if the moto morrison launches early it will have the 2.0 OS.
Also yr 2 of the developers challenge is starting soon so more great new apps will be launched n developed.

Since you and Disavowed seem to be on your game, can you explain a couple of things to me??
1. In the first video I was directed to at fandroid, the dude seemed to have 2 different desktop enviroments. One that was newer and sexier, and the "standard" desktop that you'd see now.
Was this a glitch or will you be able to switch back and forth like that at will?? The dude didn't show to much from the new looking desktop which is beyond me why he wouldn't.
2. With Android being open sourced, it's strength comes from its open source programing. With the Pre having a Linux based OS, will it be free to the same open source programing we're coming to love from the G1/Android phones?
1. if u root u can install themes like rosie and hero and other themes hit the android sites and u will see a few...i prefer the rosie since its slick but the hero one is good too. if u dont root u can use home replacement apps i use open home some use ahome others use dx top and some use sweeterhome they all charge but if use torrents u may be able to find them but u wont be able to update them.
2. android is linux based too...which is y by end of the year there will be android pcs and notebooks and netbooks. companies find it easier to develop for pre and apple so they launch apps there faster there r some apps i wish i had but dont but with the coming of 18 new android phones by end of the year i believe android will get all those apps...fun fact some iphone apps they pay for...android gets free...

I was considering trying to hold out for a touch pro 2, but if some of these android phones in July are quality I may jump to TMO and give them a try. I probably can't hold off till Oct but July is only a few weeks away...

i didn't address this in depth my bad.
like i said if u root u can change your desktop with themes if you don't u can add templates as it were.
u can switch back if u go into settings then apps and remove default to reset it.
thats only way i know or u just dont choose a main desktop environment but everytime u press home android will ask u what environment u want.

there are a few other homes but i dont use them and some make ur phone look like an iphone but i dont use that either.
i might get bold and root sometime next week and install the rosie build(modified cupcake os but from htc with some goodies including flash built in) but i am not sure. i need to read the root guides more.
maybe the last fm app has it?
AgentCreed have you heard anything about a rumored android qwerty phone that they are calling the actual G2?( on some roadmaps it's called the G1 v.2) I read on one or two sites that this might be the phone that they will anounce tommorrow along with or instead of the My Touch. any info on this?.........
the g1 v.2 thing confuses me b/c it seems htc which made the g1 isn't making the next version which makes no sense but who knows...
I heard they may announce the moto phone 2moro since its ready to launch b4 fall but so many rumors about bigfoot one side says its a moto the other says samsung other says its htc...problem is all 3 of them r launching qwerty phones by christmas n no one knows whats what.
from what i read the samsung qwerty wll have sickhouse specs but the others may too. they r launching the mytouch 2moro or soon tho b/c its in europe...and they wanna beat the other companies sprint is rumored to be launching Hero in august and hero will have the donut os so we should see a flurry of androids and by fall with donut.

Let's take a look at a few notable free apps that make getting things done with your Android handset easier and more fun. All of these are available in the Android Market on your phone; the apps that have dedicated web sites are linked below.
Gmote: Turn Android into a remote control for your computer and its music and movies with Gmote. Perfect for controlling your media center PC under the television from the couch, Gmote can browse what media files you want to play and offers regular play, pause, rewind, and volume controls (as shown). Alternately, you can go into Gmote's touchpad mode and drive the mouse on your computer screen with your phone, launching and switching applications. Gmote requires that you install server software on your computer as well as the Android app to work.
Sticky: Android doesn't come with a built in notes application, but Sticky will give you colored digital Post-Its you can hide or show, drag and drop around your Android home screen.
Nightwatch: If you charge your phone on your nightstand while you sleep, you want Nightwatch. Nightwatch converts Android into a fullscreen clock automatically when you plug it in to charge.
Hungry!: Simplify your visits to the supermarket with Hungry!, a grocery shopping application. Enter the list of items you need to pick up at the grocery store, and check them off as you buy them with Hungry!. You can email your shopping list to your spouse with Hungry!, and see your purchase history and top most-bought items, as well.
Shake Awake: One of Android's annoyances (that will hopefully be fixed in future releases) is lack of easy access to the keypad when you're on a call. Right now, when you're on a call, Android slips into sleep mode, which means you have to mess with the wake button to punch in numbers on the keypad (like a teleconference PIN or to use any number-driven menu system). Shake Awake is here to fix that annoyance: While you're on a call, a quick movement of the handset wakes up Android for easy keypad access.
Useful Switchers: Easily toggle and configure Android's settings with Useful Switchers, an all-in-one settings panel. Set your ringer behavior (sound and/or vibration), toggle your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Airplane Mode, and GPS on and off, set your screen brightness and timeout, and even launch a handy flashlight (bright white screen) all from one pane in Useful Switchers.
Contacts Clean-up: If you're the type who likes all of the dollar bills in your wallet smoothed out, all facing the same way, and sorted by denomination, then you probably want all your contacts' phone numbers to be in the same format, too. Contacts Clean-up does just that: you enter the phone number format you like best (with or without dashes, dots, country codes, etc), and Contacts Clean-up will sweep through your contacts list and reformat them all in one shot.
ActionComplete: Practitioners of David Allen's Getting Things Done productivity system should check out ActionComplete, and GTD manager for Android. Set up your projects, next actions, wait list, and pending lists in ActionComplete, and associate people, places, and tags with each. ActionComplete will notify you when something is due—or if you've got location-awareness on, if you're in the place you've got something to do. (I haven't tested the location awareness/places feature thoroughly myself, but head into the app's preferences to turn on location awareness.) ActionComplete's web site says a web-based version of the app is "coming soon" as well.
No Signal Alert: When you walk into any dead zone where your phone's got zero bars of cell reception, No Signal Alert lets you know. Especially useful for when you're expecting that important call that just isn't coming (because it can't!), No Signal Alert offers audio, vibration, and status bar alerts when you've got no bars.
Free Dictionary Org: Ok, it's not the fanciest dictionary we've ever used, but it's free and it works like you'd expect: you enter a word to look up (and it suggests words as you tap), and Free Dictionary Org displays a definition fetched from the web (so it doesn't work offline).
Weather Channel: While it's not the prettiest weather application you'll ever see, the Weather Channel app is serious about giving you the current conditions, hourly, 36-hour, and 10-day forecast. Set up multiple places in this app for easy crowing about how perfect it is in San Diego while your relatives are getting hailed on in Oklahoma.
Locale: Make sure your ringer switches to vibrate during that weekly meeting, but goes on full blast at home with Locale, a location-aware settings manager for Android. Based on conditions like battery power, location, date, or time, Locale can change Android's settings automatically for you.
Even six months later, previously mentioned Compare Everywhere, Shazam, and AnyCut are still prime free Android apps, as well as Secrets password manager and GV for Google Voice users.
