i'm still here, just workn a lot, in and out of town, but i def. been checkn in on this thread, ya'll been holding things down! much props. I feel like I maxed out my G1! Just waiting on official word from TMO about the next Android. The G1 is doing so much shyt 4 me, i'm happy with it, but I'm waiting on a faster device, better looking phone with a bigger screen! This g1 has held it down for me, and after having it since the first day of release i'm still happy with this phone, but i'm ready for some faster shyt with a bigger screen.

O and for those having lagging problems with Cyanogen's latest roms, go into spare parts, check Compcache enabled, and check or uncheck homeapps in memory. That should fix the lag when going back to home screen.

Well if all the reports are correct we should be hearing on Tuesday about tmo's plans, I sure hope it's not this crazy pricing i've heard for the Nexus One.

Anybody got any cool new apps?
 
this is the home replacement i use for my droid called Home++
I have 6 screens but here are 3 of them including one with "screen cards" that will be in 2.1 that the home developers added to their home replacement, with the new genie app.

I like it even once i do root i think i'll keep this theme. i hope they find a way to make 2.1 work with it.
 
i need some help with my hero :(

how and where do u access the stuff saved on the sd card

my battery is dead after 4 hours...even after getting an app manager...is there something wrong with my phone?

how come i cant find some of the apps i see on the net...like google googles?

Here is a Tip, Keep the mini USB on you at all times.......There are plenty of placed to plug into.

turn the force feed back feature off, when it vibrates for every damn thing u do, it sucks juice like crazy.

Dim the brightness of your back lighting.

I know there is an ap that u can customize all these settings based on your GPS position.......... so when u leave the house to go to work, its in low power mode, and soon as u come home its back to regular......I think the ap is called LOCAL. I could be wrong.

But basically if you play with your fone alot its only gonna give u 4 hours, specially if u having that damn vibration on, but I keep it plugged into my work pc via U?SP so its not a problem.


And what I really love about my hero is I can use my Monster Cable Beats Headphones :dance::dance::dance:

First time i got a Call, and it paused my music and I was able to talk with the headfones still on, I was like :itsawrap::jackoff::wepraise::dance:

get advance task killer to make sure that ur not running programs that are hogging memory. a lot of programs will start up on their own. kill them and youll save battery.

also, some programs are not available to the sprint hero because sprint hasnt yet updated us to 2.0 or 2.1. we're still on 1.6 - google goggles for instance will only run on phones that are using 2.0.

If the plans for the nexus 1 are a go ten I really dont want it. I mean i pay 79.99 now for unlimited everything so why take a step back.

I want a 2.0 phone but not at that price, i can wait. Im still feenin for the Xpheria X10, it may run on 1.6 still but id rather have that and keep everything else plus my G1 for personal use. Maybe ill get the X10 as my showoff joint and the nexus as my google voice phone.

TBH, i wouldnt trust 90% of those apps cause they are outdated and since they are paid app you cant update em for free.
 
Zei.. I had to leave that Experion shit alone.. definitely wasnt worth the hype. I switched over to Darkstar and love it so far. All the transparencies are REAL nice.

So true. The vibration also slows down the keyboard. I also bought a cheap $5 car charger for my phone. Any blackberry charger will fit the Hero. So between the car charger and chargers at work I never drop below 70% charge unless I want it to for battery memory. I know they say the current batteries don't have memory issues but nothing wrong with letting the battery drain when you're home once in a blue moon.
 
OK, what are you guys having problems with...is it the battery life your having a problem with? I can tell/give you the names of some apps I use to keep my battery flowing all day.

Ill tell you one thing right off the bat, if your not using your 3G...switch it to 2G.

Download the app called "2G-3G OnOff" If you cant find it that way then search for the alt. name called "Curvefish" Its a 2X2 widget that allows you to switch from 2G to 3G whenever.

Or if your not planning to use your data plan at all, Here's an app I found not to long ago called "APNDroid"

What this app does is that you can turn your DATA usage completely OFF while still keeping your Calls, Texts, VM and MMS active. You have the regular app and it comes wth a widget for on the fly usage. I found that when im at work and im not using the 3/2G for any reasonI just use this app and use the power control widget to cut the brightness to Zero.

Its a real battery saver to say the least and the only reason your battery will drain is if your using a ton of battery hogging apps.

For rooted users, download the app called "Overclock for ROOT users" This will either turn ya phone into a speed demon or battery conserver.

If used for battery saving...DONT GO BELOW 245 FOR MIN AND MAX...IF YOU GOTO 128 YOUR PHONE WILL AND I MEAN WILL SLOWDOWN TO THE POINT OF IT WILL FREEZE AND GIVE YOU FORCE CLOSES AKING YOU REBOOT.

get androzip to check whats on your sd card. taskiller works good for killing apps....bigger help go up under settings ,about phone then battery use to see what been using most of juice.... most of time its not an app

Redownload the rom your flashing, wipe twice, and reinstall. Which rom r u using? is this your first time flashing? did u root correctly? U haven't attempted to install a theme b4 u flashed did u? and also make sure the theme is compatible with your rom.
 
i have had my phone for a year, i have been adding roms and themes for about 6 months, i was installing the new cyogen rom then the screen got stuck on the g1 logo. I will follow your instructions and see if it works. thanks

BTW every time i flash after i reboot, it gets stuck on the cyanogen logo screen for about 15 minutes, i reboot and it starts up normal, no problem. But, yeah, download the rom again, then reinstall it, that will fix your problem, if not let us know.

tried your method last night with no luck, after i wiped twice and put the update.zip still nothing. i think it maybe time to bite the dust and get a mytouch 3g?

Anytime your doing a fresh install of Cyan's ROMs for the 1st time, you will need to do a factory data reset. This stops the bootloop cycle. Install the 1.6 OTA update then right after flash the cyan rom you plan to use, then wipe then reinstall cyan again to insure proper installation. The only thing wiping does is erase your home screens and text[or any other data] I suggest you get the app "My Backup" and back up everything it will let you, that when you you start over fresh, you can reinstall whatever you had with out really losing anything
