Typically when Talib Kweli graces foreign lands, he is met with open and warm arms and ears. A trip to Copenhagen this past weekend proved to be a greeting of an entirely different sort. During his stay in the Denmark capital, Kweli and label-mate NIKO IS stopped through the city’s Christiania borough to mix it up with some locals. According to Kweli’s Instagram account, they were accosted by a pair of “bigots” and subsequently beaten while being told they were hated. It appears that each escaped and even went on to perform later that night, but not without taking a moment to reflect on the matter. Read Talib Kweli’s account of the attack below.
