I find this whole story to be unbelievable. The OP should be in jail now.

Niqqa, depending on the City, the ATF will be there in minutes.

They have offices with ninjas sitting around waiting on phone calls just like any other law enforcement agency.

They get a call about some fool trying to sell a dealer a firearm with obliterated serial numbers, they drive over. They probably already know the dealer.

You don't know what the fuck you are talking about. Local Police?.....listen fool, Local Police have no jurisdiction to enforce exclusively Federal Laws.

The statute I cited above is a Federal law. Now stay with me here. Who enforces Federal laws? You got it Einstein.....the Feds...as in the FEDERAL BUREAU OF ALCOHOL, TOBACCO AND FIREARMS.

ok here we go: A T F where the F stands for Firearm. Now he went and try to sell the gun at a gun shop or pawn shop. Anyone who deals in firearms need to have a FFL(Federal) So They would more than likely call the ATF Which deals with that kinda shit. Plus it is a Federal offense so i doubt that it would be handled by local police. Just common sense really

I go to the Gun store to sell my Smith and Wesson. Clean as fuck. The white lady (after I handed it to her) comes out and says she aint giving it back because it's scratched off. I tell her it's mine, I initially sold it, and the buyer scratched it off. But I bought it back, It's in my name, it's registered bla, blah, blah.
I leave and return back with the box( which has the serial on it, and the receipt) on getting there, there's two atf cats black and white. They say they need to talk to me out side. I comply.
They ask questions, I tell them. The bottom line it was mine.They werel ike well since the no.'s scratched it's illegal. Said it was a felony, but i'm like it's not illegal if the........sigh.
In a nut shell, the pigs took my strap. I could a taken it to court(which dude said, and all the while he smirking), but the judge coulda been thorough, plus I aint got the loot.
Them dudes probably gonna keep that strap. and I'm pissed at that.

The only Mistake I made was not knowing the implications. It's a clean strap with no bodies on it. Just the scratched off serial could make it look suspect.

The law is simple and absolute. Do not scratch the s/n off of the gun. I am not going to call you names like some of the other guys but how do they know that the gun you were trying to sale them was the gun you did legally purchase since the s/n had been scratched off. You would have come out ahead if you went to a gun buy back program and got $50-100 bucks for it.
