Okay retards listen. I bought it back from the dude I sold it to. I provided proof that it was mine. I had a copy of the serial. I wouldn't be stupid to take a gun to a store If i felt it was dirty.
The only Mistake I made was not knowing the implications. It's a clean strap with no bodies on it. Just the scratched off serial could make it look suspect.

Scratching off serials means the piece was gonna get dirty. Your shit is getting ran through a battery of exams right now to see if any crimes were committed with it. And you took to a reputable dealer to sell it.

Now this is some advice to grow on. You are absolutely correct, that gun and its ballistic exam will be compared against every unsolved gun homocide, assault, and gun crime scene in all the 50 states, once the information is downloaded and made available.

I go to the Gun store to sell my Smith and Wesson. Clean as fuck. The white lady (after I handed it to her) comes out and says she aint giving it back because it's scratched off. I tell her it's mine, I initially sold it, and the buyer scratched it off. But I bought it back, It's in my name, it's registered bla, blah, blah.
I leave and return back with the box( which has the serial on it, and the receipt) on getting there, there's two atf cats black and white. They say they need to talk to me out side. I comply.
They ask questions, I tell them. The bottom line it was mine.They werel ike well since the no.'s scratched it's illegal. Said it was a felony, but i'm like it's not illegal if the........sigh.
In a nut shell, the pigs took my strap. I could a taken it to court(which dude said, and all the while he smirking), but the judge coulda been thorough, plus I aint got the loot.
Them dudes probably gonna keep that strap. and I'm pissed at that.

Removing serials are done for a reason. It was not the smartest move buying back a piece back that could be dirty. Then you take it in?? You could have gotten more than your gun taken. Be glad it didnt come back with blood on it.

Thread is bullshit, you walk into a gun shop with a dirty gun and the ATF is there, you go to jail, , you go DIRECTLY to jail, you do not pass GO, you do not collect $50. Filing off the serial is a crime PERIOD, doesn't matter if the gun is clean or not, doesn't matter if you bought it legally or not. Once you file the serial off, showing the ATF a fuckin' box and a serial number doesn't mean a fuckin' thing. Hell half of the dirty guns in NYC and DC were purchased legally in gun shops and registered down south by some dumbass as a favor for some other dumbass, so having papers would not have let you off the hook.
