not from a book or being taught
pilots
sailors / maritime navigation
geologists
meteorologists
etc
if you want to observe for yourself, start by getting a private pilot's license or learn maritime navigation
navigating by sailing or flying will allow you to observe the curvature of the earth or you will get lost
or failing that book a flight like Chicago to Iceland Netherlands London or Moscow - you will see the curvature of the earth with your eyes
