First look: the new Mac Pro

For animation & video, Mac Pro 5,1, 12-core, 64-GB Ram, 500GB SSD, NVidia gtx 680
That's serious.

I do a/v and production shit on a pc I built, 4.0 gHz i7, 32gb ram, gtx1070, two 500gb ssd

My renders are so quick compared to my old rig that I don't have much reason to complain about it, but i do fairly standard short form after effects and premiere stuff so it's not a huge deal anyway. Protools is where I use the most muscle but I still can't really make this mf hiccup.

That's a dope setup. Salute.

I want 4 of those 1070's. That's realtime rendering right here.

You’ll be surprised...

OK

Lol that shit could render the next Avatar in 4 hours.

They out they gat damn mind.
Who's using 1TB of RAM? Your house gonna be glowing. Light bill gonna be on steroids with 28 cores.

I just wanna see the cost of a fully decked out one so I could have a laugh. That shit gonna cost more than people's mortgages.

Only way I'd own one of these things is if they gave it to me. :dunno:
Not for long, I would flip it and sell it to the nearest applestan, take the profit build a nice streaming PC, a nice gaming PC, and a nice server. I would take what's left and treat the family to a vacation in Jamaica or I just use all of the profits to buy my oldest a new used vehicle.

Do any black people work for Apple and speak at these showcases?

Can't lie. I just use the phone and stream music.

Fuck all this bullshit. Wasted on a nigga like me.
They used to be one funky lady who was head of something , they used her to launch beats by Dre ,

Fuck it , she left Apple : she is now at Uber .

I want to see how much the maxed out Mac Pro will cost. Funny thing, MKB might not benefit from a 28 core CPU since he mainly does Final Cut Pro. I'm not sure if it can properly utilize all those cores and threads.
They may come out with an updated version for the three people that buy one..lol.

I own the original "cheese grater" Macpro. I dropped 3k for the base model back in 2009. No way I'm paying 6k for the new base model. All I'm doing is graphic programs and a little bit if video editing from time to time...overkill.

These are really for studios. I worked for a studio where the artists would have 3-6GB files and want 10 open at a time.

I can answer both of these questions with two words:

Video rendering.

That said, fuck them. I'm not paying that much for a computer.

3d software, a special kind of rendering I do with 3Delight, which uses CPU rather than graphics cards for processing.

It would allow me to render anime style (Boondocks, Black Dynamite, etc) animations in seconds, rather than hours.

So they pretty much made this shit for Hollywood.

We just had a chance to look at the Mac Pro in a soothing hands-on area, featuring lots of stations that were demoing the kind of work that Apple expects pros will want to do. Starting at $5,999, the Mac Pro has been long-awaited, and, lucky for pretty much everybody, Apple didn’t over-engineer the basic shape: it’s a rectangle, and you can put PCI cards in it.

:roflmao2::roflmao::roflmao3::roflmao2::roflmao::roflmao2::roflmao3:

It's like who ever came up with the prices had 5,999 on his/her mind, and thought lets just charge that for everything.

Does it come with complimentary vaseline?!
it’s not meant for regular people. neither is the monitor.

Yeh after the initial price sticker wore off and I looked into it. This is a sweet ass piece of hardware. This is not for watching YouTube vids.

Even if I could afford it. There is nothing I'm doing. Not even my VMs for sketchy sites requires that much computing power.

I don't think ppl get how powerful and how long this machine could last someone.

I'm aware, well aware of hardware. BUT, and that's a big but, Apple knows that they, to their followers can sell the sizzle and not the steak.

Majority of the people who are die hard stans, will lie to themselves as to why they need a desktop with EIGHT pci express slots. They just want one for nerd bragging rights.

The majority of people who will benefit are the ones who will buy them used after the initial idiots sell them for money or the next best thing.

I remember my graphic designer friends bought up the G5 desktops used after their initial release and used them for many years after. Apple can build a damn graphics machine. But they build an even better sizzle (spending no money on advertising), that initial rush of people will buy that, and will never use to its potential. "Dude, my dad just got me that new Apple, have you seen it, check it out. 'Dude, that's so cool, dude'. Yeah man it's cool isn't it"

This same computer specs on a PC would be maybe 2/3rds the cost of six grand. Yes it may not be able to plug in 1.5TB of RAM, but who the fook can afford that.

Just wait until you need to change a part and the apple security chip tells you to kick rocks and buy a new computer. I give it 8 months tops.

The people that actually have a use for this machine, the same people that Apple is gearing this product towards.

Apple isn't gearing this machine towards home usage and the average customer isn't walking into a sore asking for a Mac Pro.

Comparing this machines specs to a windows machine is asinine. There are reasons why Macs, specifically Mac Pro's are used for production over pc's.

And many dudes like me work in graphics and video production, from home.

In my past, I was in IT. Had a yearly budget and did the everything IT for my company. Back in early 2000's, I remember I had to have a company build us a PC that had the most innovative computer at the time. It had 4GB of RAM and cost me $25k. My company was an engineering firm doing building similationsnof of explosions and things for the govt and private sector. One job covered the cost so it was nothing.

I could see it being bought by companies like that. But my point was, we in a day and age of social media stunting and doing shit for likes. People will buy that in droves just to establish a status. And Apple knows that. Stan fans will be in full force. Watch.
