I listen to albums to see if it’s really what people claim it is and as has been the case with this guys entire career, he’s overhyped af.
His longevity is by default. There aren’t any rappers that really rap anymore. He’s there cause no one is and no one has the media push he does. He totes the line between entertainment and rap which is why he pulls it off. He reels women in with his emoting, than uses afrobeats, grime, pop and hip hop to do his bidding for the rest.
It’s always been marketing before any actual ability.

I like this because it has that classic sounding Kanye flow to it but it doesn’t have that “it” factor to it, like it be a filler song on a old Kanye album. Nice feature to line up tho always nice to hear what Andre talking bout.

He STILL has never dropped a classic to me. Outside that mix tape.
But there is so much good music in that exhaustive catalogue that has to count for something
Drake’s not marketable, he’s here because of talent and people like his music.
He consistently puts out good music meaning none of it is truly wack. The beats and the rhymes are usually nice. Some may not like the songs, but they’re not wack.
He stays in his lane and puts out his brand of music consistently, that explains the longevity.
Now as far as his popularity? I can’t explain that, I don’t think anyone can. It’s not media push, it’s not his label. He puts out music and people run to listen, it’s weird.

I wasn’t a fan of his music and was asking the samething until I heard that song “Know Yourself” from his “If You’re reading this it’s to late” album. I decided to check it out and been listening to that whole album for 3 years now
