When I was in graduate school, I initially became friends with some of the white females in my program. However, as we started to do internships with diverse groups of people, particularly Latino Americans and African Americans, I began to see not only their ignorance, but also how they refused to bring up certain issues of race around me. They would seek validation in their "open-mindedness" to me when someone from the local Harlem/Bronx community called them racist or discriminatory.
Now, where I work, I have two girlfriends from New Zealand (one is white, the other is Indian). I feel like, because they aren't Americans, they aren't afraid to show their ignorance when it comes to certain issues surrounding race and I don't mind talking with them about things.

When I was in school there were a few that i didn't mind hanging out with.
I don't talk to any of them now.
I haven't experienced this but i've heard others mention this and even seen some people try to explain the concept of white privelege, the importance of the atlantic slave trade and why black folk won't stop arguing about it,and how it feels to be black in america.
Usally the white person just gets offended or they walk away even more confused than what they were before.

I've got two close white friends one I've known for 15 yrs and the other for 10 yrs.
They're definitely good folks and have never given me cause for concern.

She made comments about "good" vs "bad" hair a few times and also about colour a few times. Thing is, she meant no harm by it and didn't even realize she said something wrong til I put her on blast. Some real fucked up comment about dark skin being "worse" because of keloids(but she didn't know what they were even called) and for that one I slapped her and broke it down for her in front of whole family too at sunday dinner. I pointed out WORSE white sagging skin and her early wrinkles and told her to look 55 year old cousin with not one wrinkle. The latest comment was "she can't deal with american black people she doesn't understand why they always complain". THEN I had to explain her how fucked up it is here and have whole reparations discussion with her. Very annoying.

It's because white women have a prissy princess complex and expect all men to wait on them hand and foot. They figure that they can pussywhip a gay man because deep down he's secretly straight and overwhelmed by her Caucasian beauty.

My company was in negoations with a larger company and where about to be bought out.
Only a certain number of employees were gonna be asked to stay, but no one knew (thats what I thought)
Of course I got laid off along with a couple other brothers. I was still cool with them but when I was playing video games with them after that shit happened, They told they knew all along; who was going and staying.
Them motherfuckers aint tell me shit! When they told me that, I paused the game and politely got up and left. I aint talked to them crackas since..........

Damn that's jacked up. But I've had similar experiences with white co-workers who I thought were cool. In fact, very recently I found out that a former manager gave an unfavorable reference. I couldn't believe it.
But I should have known better.
When it comes to us and them, you better believe they will go with what they know.

Well I don't seek friendships to be quite honest. If I make acquaintances by a situation or through work then I am certainly open to them.
And I trust very few people regardless of race. But I will admit that I trust whites less. That is just me.

yes i have white friends yes i invite them over for family functions and yes i talk about race with them. If one of them needed a organ i would go get tested to see if i was a match.

I have more than a few white friends, Indian friends, Asian friends, Latino friends as well as my friends that are black. Shit, people can't tell what I am half the time so why put my friends into a box if I'm not willing to do that to myself?

I still have good friends who are white and also those from other nationalities as well who I've known for over 20 years now. We still do hang out every now and then. They also invite me over to their place as well as I do invite them over to mine.
