Discussion: Have you ever gotten anyone fired / transfered?

Helped a beloved colleagued/friend (let’s call her Tasha) at work locate the stash of the company’s kleptomaniac (let’s call her Becky). The klepto would steal the stupidest shit off people’s desks and drawers. Everybody knew it was her but nobody had hard evidence. The day Becky stole gift cards out of Tasha’s desk drawer was the day she picked the wrong one. Tasha went the fuck off on Becky. Becky acted shocked and insulted and left the area. Then half the office proceed to hunt down where she be putting all the stuff she steals. We looked everywhere. Even in those white ceiling tiles. I happen to look on the side of Becky’s desk and noticed a piece of cardboard against the wall. Becky had a hole in the wall where all the stuff she stole that day was hidden. The side of her desk was against the wall so it was a narrow space. She used the cardboard to hide the hole. I used my cellphone to record us taking everything out of the hole. Had to send it to HR and file a report. Tasha, who was with the company for nearly 30 years and one of the hardest workers there, was (and still is) considered like family to me and others there.

ETA: Another story

A manager hired someone who was extremely under qualified. It is one thing to be a little inexperienced but another to be totally incompetent of basic skills of your position. I tried to work with her to see if there was a way to at least bring her to a manageable level of competence. It was a no go.

I, along with everyone else, had to give feedback and it was the first time I ever straight told management that a person should be let go. I can’t say that I was the reason she was fired but it was a collective agreement with everyone who gave feedback that she needed to be fired.

The sad part was that the girl moved halfway across the country for the position. Didn’t even last 3 months.
