CEOs are recruited by board members and chairmen or the majority shareholder(s)
every CEO recruits their own teams (coo cfo etc) - unless internal politics prevents it
at every level in organization - successful execs and managers mentor and coach the people that report to them and develop the ones that show promise
Its why many times you see an exec leave for another opportunity and his/her 'people' usually follow them with in a year or 2
