Cowboys reach agreement with CB Brandon Carr

Who you think is there at #14 for defense? If Decasatro is there they not passing him up.

Kirkpatrick or Barron. If Ingram there...

Kosier was released after we signed the 2nd guard

We paid both of the lineman starters money to come here im not so sure we are drafting decastro or maybe the team thinks he will be gone by #14 which is a strong possibility as well

They've committed alotta money to that position, just don't see them taking ol boy...unless someone moves to C.

negro plz

82 1536 9

he wasn't even the 2nd WR coming into the season

& he torch your Cowgirls that last game

He'll come back to his senses by next season. That's for damn sure. That cha cha slide shit he does in the end zone will be done. One hit wonder until proven otherwise.

Fantastic interview. Thanks man. Looks like a great pick up for the Boys.

Jerry and Co. needs to keep cutting players and change the culture with players like this cat.
Let's go.

I agree. I love that signing. WE need more cats like that in the locker room. Shit sometimes all it takes is one and everyone will flock around him. I hope he can be that guy.

I hear yall on the pressure part, but let me remind you that we only have 3 cornerbacks on the roster in a division of pass happy teams.

With that being said, get the best DB available at the first pick.

Remember, a DB can run back punts so Dez can only focus on routes.

This draft is a defensive line/WR deep draft. Treat it as such.

You gotta be careful though because remember Jenkins is a free agent. If he stay's healthy he could potentially be our best cornerback this year. So if you just signed 50 million to Carr are you gonna let Jenkins walk when he's just as good?

I don't think the Cowboys can afford to invest a 1st round pick and its money into this secondary.

That's what its looking like. A lot of people have the Panthers guard moving to center. But I mean I don't know. I'm not really sure where the Cowboys go. I was so sure a week ago. Now not so much.

All signs point to Decastro being there but shit you never know. Every year a player drops. This year will probably be no different.

I've been reading scouting reports on those linemen we've signed and its funny no one seems to like them. They seem to be coming off bad years in there previous destinations and we gave them some nice change. So I don't know what this really means. Could be the confidence in Callahan to mold these guys into players.

PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins, approached the team about a contract extension.

The team hasn't exchanged financial numbers yet with Rosenhaus, but there is hope Jenkins can continue to play with the Cowboys long-term.

Update: Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Tuesday afternoon the team values Jenkins "we like him," but you can't pay everybody, at least right now.

Last season, Jenkins shared the team lead in pass breakups (10) and finished with just one interception.

Jenkins played the bulk of the season with neck, knee and shoulder injuries. Jenkins' shoulder was so bad he couldn't lift his arm above his head and he underwent offseason surgery.

Rosenhaus said Jenkins should be ready in time for the start of training camp in late July.

Jenkins, who is in the final year of his contract, will make a base salary of $1.052 million this season.

During training camp last year, the Cowboys gave nickle corner Orlando Scandrick a five-year, $27 million contract extension with $10 million guaranteed. This offseason, the Cowboys signed cornerback Brandon Carr to a five-year $50.1 million deal.

Wait your turn Jenkins you have been making 1st round pick money

If you play like you can Jerry will reward you that is for sure

Even if Scandrick is getting paid like a starter but is not one

This is why Jerry needs to keep looking to draft possible replacements.
You can't have the mentality of we have Jenkins, we're good.
He has to do the same kind of thinking he did when he drafted Murray in the 3rd even though he had 1st rd draft pick, Felix as the starter.
Keep drafting the best players and hope for competition or cats who can spell the starter for a few snaps.

When the Boys were killing fools on defense in the 90s, they use to sub their ENTIRE D line on snaps.
Thats the depth they had and thats what we have to get back too.
Jerry keeps thinking that once he's hit on a player, sign him to a huge contract and ride him.
That's why or team struggles in December. No depth.

I agree

Plus you cant have enough good corners and we have two guys who get banged up in Jenkins and Scandrick

One of the Positives about Carr is he hasn't missed a game in his entire NFL career and he came in the same draft as those dudes

I'm all for drafting a corner if he is there but I have a feeling we will go D-Line/Pass Rush

Couples would be a gift if he falls to us along with Poe

Upshaw and Ingram could be there as well

Cowboys' 1st-round pick? Answer is in Alabama

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowb...owboys-pick-in-1st-round-answer-is-in-alabama

Jason Garrett’s planned pit stop in Tuscaloosa should be the first step in the Cowboys following the BAD-A plan in the first round of the draft.

That’s picking the Best Alabama Defender Available.

There are four potential first-rounders that played on the BCS champions’ dominant defense: cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick, outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw, safety Mark Barron and inside linebacker Dont'a Hightower. Garrett’s presence at the Crimson Tide’s pro day -- the only one he plans to attend -- is a pretty good sign that one of those guys will hear his name called when the Cowboys go on the clock in the first round.

One scenario for the Cowboys is trading down in the first round and selecting Barron, a hard-hitting safety with some range and ball skills who was widely recognized as the vocal leader of that Bama defense. That would fill a hole that has existed since Darren Woodson’s retirement last decade.

The best-case scenario? The Cowboys stay put at No. 14 and take Kirkpatrick or Upshaw.

You can argue that those players don’t address immediate needs, but that’s the kind of short-sighted thinking that caused the Cowboys to pay Pro Bowl money this offseason to non-Pro Bowlers Brandon Carr and Anthony Spencer.

Mike Jenkins, who is heading into the last season of his rookie deal, wants a new contract. You think agent Drew Rosenhaus and Jenkins plan to give the Cowboys a hometown discount? It’s much more likely that they’ll note that Jenkins, unlike Carr, has made a Pro Bowl and use Carr’s fresh five-year, $50.1 contract as the starting point for negotiations.

If the Cowboys give Jenkins that kind of money, they’ll end up with the most overpaid cornerback corps in NFL history. They’re already overpaying – Jerry Jones prefers the term “paying retail” – for Carr and nickel corner Orlando Scandrick (five years, $27 million).

Kirkpatrick would give the Cowboys a much-needed physical presence in the secondary at an affordable price. Get him and the Cowboys can afford to let Jenkins go after this season.

Or the Cowboys can pick Upshaw, putting themselves in a position where they don’t have to pay Anthony Spencer a franchise-tag rate to be slightly above average. With a salary of $8.8 million, Spencer is due to make about a million and a half bucks per sack.

Oh, and Spencer would love to negotiate a long-term deal. Why wouldn’t Spencer when he has all the leverage?

The reason Spencer has all the leverage against the Cowboys certainly isn’t his performance. It’s because the Cowboys, who have no faith in Victor Butler’s potential as a starter, have done such a poor job preparing to replace Spencer.

That all changes if the Cowboys select Upshaw, who could be described as Spencer with a serious mean streak.

That’s the kind of Bad A the Dallas defense desperately needs

been reading too much shit about us possibly trading down :hmm:

dont do it jerry, that shit hasn't worked since Jimmy Johnson was here

stay put at #14 and get the talent that is there!

everybody got us taking Barron

how do yall feel about that?

im ok with it fasho

Barron, Decastro, Couples, Ingram, Upshaw

none of those picks would upset me

I left out corner cuz i think we wont use a 1st rounder on one

but man the way Janoris Jenkins is dropping we may can get him in the 2nd :please:

we need to consider corner in the 1st 3 rounds cuz I think Mike Jenkins is gone next year

he is due a 50 million dollar contract if he has a healthy season

That pick needs to go on Defense.
Either Barron or a pass rusher.
If someone can pay two broads to say Janoris fathered their kids and
said he ain't taking care of them we might be able to get him in tha 5th.
Our D was utter shit last year so fuck anyone on offense lets get that D going.
