Cowboys reach agreement with CB Brandon Carr

Nah bruh, go back a reread everything. Newman would've had to get cut in order to sign Nnamdi last year. McMahon & Archer both stated when they saw him on the practice field, they knew it wasn't a deal. Jerry was selling bullshit. Nnamdi wanted to be in OAK, but Al didn't make an offer.

I don't understand.
That's the point I made about Newman looking sad. Newman was going to be cut if Nnamdi got signed. Everyone knew it.
There was no way that we would have had both on the roster.

That's also why I mentioned the agent of Newman and Nnamdi possibly made the deal for Philly because if Newman gets cut he doesn't get his cut of Newman's salary in 2011.

Also, remember that Jerry resigned Scandrick and Sensabuagh to a $48 million dollars total so we had a little money to play with.
If Nnamdi was signed we probably wouldnt have that much to sign other players. Spears, Elam, Flammetta and Robinson wouldnt have been here.

McMahon's hating ass is known to be full of shit.

Now its the name of the game. Let philly or wash do it and you shit talking.

We didn't overpay for Brandon Carr though. I don't remember talking about the Eagirls overpaying for a free agent but them Deadskins gave Garcon a contract like he's Randy Moss. Them niggas overpaid. I been said it was the name of the game. That don't mean it ain't overpaying.

Yea that was another thing. Nnamdi and Newman had the same agent. His agent took that shit in consideration.

The thing about re-signing Scandrick and Sensi though is that I think it actually saved us money. They were makin' like 5 or 6 + million at the end of their contract. You re-sign them and backload that contract. I think I saw Scandrick made 7 million before that re-sign.

Remember, this year if a guy was going to get cut...he couldn't be on the practice field the day he got cut. That's how they identified guys who were getting cut. If they were signing Nnamdi, they had to cut Newman before the signing to make the space therefore he wouldn't have been at practice that day.

Man i hear ya. But based on those other wideout deals being handed out Garcon got a fair deal. Just like Carr did.

Well yea I just posted in another thread(or maybe it was this one) that you can't really say cats getting overpaid no more because we saying that shit about every deal. This is the going rate now. This is the standard. People are just getting paid more than they did the past. This is now the going rate. Desean got 50 and Garcon got 32. That's probably where we at now. And the salary cap by 2014 going to increase to up to 200 million? These deals are going to get worse or better if you a player.

minus whale sign the hometown kid Melvin Bullitt at safety

why is it unrealistic???

rookies are drafted and thrust into starting roles every season

mnay arent even high picks like 2nd rounders

and this will be his 2nd season

its not unrealistic at all

Dude tore his ACL though. That's how we even got him in the 2nd round for a first round talent to drop to us in the 2nd says that injury was pretty severe. I expected him to start but he got no burn last year. If we really do sign Connor you gotta think he's far more ready to start alongside Lee than Carter who came in sparingly on special teams. He just didn't get enough burn last year.

There's no safety worth taking with that 14th pick and you can argue there's no corner even worth taking with that pick. Jenkins might be a reach there but I think he's going to be a better pro than Kirkpatrick.

Yea I like the moves. They're going after veterans but guys in their 20's. I like that. I'm not sure if going after big names like Mario or Nicks was the best thing for this team. I want Mario no doubt but that money can be used to build depth.

But now it comes to the draft. Where do you go. Lineman? Corner? You want to upgrade that pass rush but at 14 you are reaching.

No need to reach at 14 now

Take the best player available

And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE no injured players

That ACL injury will be damn near two years old by the time the season starts bro

Either he is a player or he isnt

I agree but he didn't play until what? The last 6 or 7 games? He was only on special teams. He had conditioning problems. For him to go from that to starting would be a huge jump. And I wanted him to make that jump but if they looking at starters then they clearly don't think he's ready. Or hopefully they want depth. You can never have too many linebackers.

And yea you probably have to take best player available now. But do you add cornerback to that list of not touching at #14? You got money tied up in Scandrick and now Carr and Jenkins is gonna be a free agent after this year? You might have to add that position as well as quarterback, running and receiver as positions you can't draft that high.

What dallas is doing i really like, there are filling there needs not a just big names, and we still have the draft to fill the last remaining needs, that are not huge at this point, we might fuck around a get a great number 3 wr in the draft, or safety and a couple of line man hopefully a good pass rusher, well be aight, we got a good corner but a real pass rusher would help even more! a great pass rush can cover up for lack of corners

I think Bill Callahan was a solid/underrated pick up. He can help JG with play-calling & definitely improve the OL. He's also a pretty good OL talent evaluater. We've added some good players to fill holes on the squad, now if we have a strong draft...we'll be on our way. With a full offseason, I hope the D can improve & have a better understanding of RR's shit.

you right no QB, CB, WR, or RB at #14

but Offensive or Defensive lineman or a pass rusher

there will be something there worth picking at that spot

dont get cute and trade down take the #14 player in the got damn draft

I sure as hell hope so. What ended up being Callahan's "official" title?

Man we need a receiver after this...as much as Dez and Miles be hurt..he needs to be starting quality

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said during a Thursday morning conference call with reporters the team signed safety Brodney Pool.
Terms were not disclosed.

Pool played for the New York Jets the last two seasons and was credited with four quarterback hurries, three pass breakups and one interception last season.

Garrett said the team wanted to sign Pool last year, during the brief free agency period, but was unable to due to finances.

"He has some really good ball skills," Garrett said.

Pool has played with Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan with the Cleveland Browns in the 2009 season. Under Ryan, Pool had a career-high four interceptions and also had 10 pass breakups.

A second-round pick from Oklahoma by the Browns, Pool is a native of Corpus Christi, Texas.

The secondary is improve no doubt now.

It's not sexy but it's solid:yes:

I wonder who their gunning for in tha draft???Is Barron off their radar with this recent signing????We still need a pass rusher since we went after a corner and a safety in free agency.
I think a pass rusher is more crucial right now then a lineman.Shit looked pathetic watching Ware double teamed all game and no one else being able to get pressure especially against teams like tha Redskins and Miami.Shit was unacceptable letting their QBS look like elite players.

Im guessing pass rusher is what they're gunning for in the draft.

they had no choice

other than Mario Williams what pass rusher was out there in free agency?

its why we had to tag Anthony Spencer

everybody saying overpaid this and overpaid that man Anthony Spencer would have gotten PAAAIIIIIID if we didnt tag him

I see that now

I'm loving what they're doing so far. The team needed some nice, solid pros. No need breaking the bank on one nigga. Just stack dudes that can play.

Can Bruce Carter play OLB?:confused::(:hmm:

He is our fastest LB maybe try him there :dunno:

This season will be very interesting to say the least, people can't judge Carter based on last season since he was hurt but no excuses this season. The ideal solution would be for Spencer to stop half stepping, that way you have pressure on the outside and Carter rushing inside and Lee hiding in the weeds waiting to pick off passes.

The Connor deal is two years so if Carter outplays him then everything will be fine

I havent seen the numbers like some of the other contracts

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/

We should have only been worried about Carter if we got Connor for a long term deal

I'll give his first round talent more time before I judge I suppose :hmm::lol:

Overall I'm still excited about our offseason so far we are adding solid players to the team

Its looking like we will have to lean on the draft for D-Line and pass rush fasho though

We're making great moves to shore up needs...I like how the 2012 team is shaping up

They are suprising me with this shit bro

They are really going after it for 2012

I think the Giants winning another one was all they needed to see

Even another Romo injury is not going to stand in the way this time

Cowboys going for a super bowl or bust type of season

Bruce Carter aint ready to play :smh:

We needed a player last year with that 2nd rounder

Naw, I think its mostly for depth.

Remember, last yr we went into the season with only 3 ILBs.
Brookings, James and Lee. :puke:
I don't think Lee wasn't the penciled in starter from Game 1. He was heavily rotated in.
I think they're doing the same with Carter plus they may need to draft or sign one more ilb for depth.

Now if we draft Luke Keuchy(sp?). I'll be worried.

We had to do something. I expected us to get one of the major players & some key 2nd or 3rd tier guys. We've done just that. We had to, the division is getting better & better. Now all we need is to set it off are solid draft picks & we'll be on the right path.

Yea if Anthony Spencer would've been out there he would've been probably the second best pass rusher out there behind Mario and would've got paid. And I don't see any pass rushers in this draft that are going to make a immediate impact. We might have to rely on some crazy blitz packages once again.

Yea its a depth move. Its a move to where alright if Carter is not ready we got Connor. If Connor is simply better than Carter than we got Carter waiting in the wings who's still young.

Carter is going to be out there. He's going to be our nickel linebacker. He's too fast not to be. And in that 3-4 you need 3 ILB's you feel comfortable with at all times on the field. Bradie and Brookings were no longer that. They simply became liability's.
