Coon Barkley At It Again

If statues didnt mean anything then there would be statues of Marcus Garvey, Macolm X, and Nat Turner up. Yet white folks wont allow it nor brush it off and say who cares. They understand the importance of propaganda in warfare, unfortunately negroes dont. Put the cracker idols in confederate museums.

Thank you Sir! These Dudes really just don't see it... :smh:

Never go against other blacks doing something constructive. Barkley has absolutely no warrior spirit about himself.

It's not about making things better, it's about getting rid symbols of hate and white privilege that say to you, or should, that we still own your black ass. :hmm:

Yet, I bet 90% of this forum vote for the party who put the statues up in the first place.

This is a total waste of time.

Get rid of the Democrat party than we can talk about they "symbols of hate". Until then, whoever supports this movement is totally full of shit.

BTW, I'm not saying "vote republican" I'm saying get rid of the Democratic party. You can create another party that holds the values you think the democrats still hold.

Call me when that movement starts.

C'mon you know as well as I do that the Democratic Party of the 20's and 30's was full of Dixicrats and bigots. That racist Party became the Republican Party of today starting with Johnson signing the Civil Rights Bill and Nixon's "Southern Strategy". So for you to say 90% of this forum voted for the party that put up the statues in the first place is just a full of shit statement. As far as Democratic Party values vs Republican Party values there is a world of difference between the two. Just look at the legislation and regulations enacted during the Obama Administration that were beneficial for people and the environment that are now being rolled back under the current Administration and Republican Party at large.

But this was about the effort to bring down the statues that you say is a waste of time. I'll just say again "It's not about making things better, it's about getting rid symbols of hate and white privilege that say to you, or should, that we still own your black ass. :hmm:

The statues were put up as a figurative spit in the face of your mom, your grandmother, and your great grandmother, your daughter, her daughter...mine too.

How is a statue that has been around 50+ years the equivalent of some random person spitting on my daughter?

That's not the point... You just don't seem to get it. So do you mind someone spitting on your daughter or not? Shit, if I saw someone spit on YOUR daughter, I would do something about it, but maybe you'd say "baby girl, it would be a waste of time and energy to respond to that with violent or non-violent action because it wouldn't make things better".

Can someone explain to me how things are going to get better once the statues are removed?

You obviously did not fully understand what I was saying. I'm saying if we are getting rid of monuments based on slavery/oppression, why not change the party that created these situations? No matter how many times a party changes, the Democrat party is the party of slavery. That's not even up for debate.

The statues were put up as a figurative spit in the face of your mom, your grandmother, and your great grandmother, your daughter, her daughter...mine too.

What you are doing is reaching.

If you got rid of every statue in the country, you would find something else to complain about.

Your argument does not make any sense whatsoever.

1. If I don't know about certain statues, how could they offend me?

2. Why are you so fascinated with someone spitting on my family?

3. If the statues were so problematic, why didn't the statues come down during Obama's presidency? He did have eight years. Apparently, President Obama did not see this as an important issue either.

I've explained the spitting thing. You're either not smart enough to comprehend, or being purposefully dense. I'm gonna assume it's the latter, but either way, you still haven't answered, and it's telling. The statues are a spit in the face to you, me and every other black American. You don't mind that, and that's ok, that's on you. I and many others do mind it and would like to see them gone. You seem to have a problem with that and you keep bringing up straw men arguments (how would bringing the statues down make things better, are they keeping me from feeding my family, why didn't they come down during Obama's presidency)... you know, things that don't have shit to do with what we're saying. That's all you got, so your quiver is pretty much empty. ...but do you man, and don't worry, I'll protect your daughter if I ever see someone spitting on her, even though her dad won't.

Oh and by the way, to answer the straw man Obama question... Trump as POTUS is actually caping for the statues...and he's using redneck, false history arguments to do it. That's the only reason his ignorant ass is even in this conversation. I'd expect any POTUS to understand that we shouldn't have statues up people that fought to keep slavery in place while committing treason and trying to tear the country apart. If he didn't cape for them and they didn't come down during Trumps hopefully one or less than one term, I'd never look to put any blame on him or question him about it.

Feel free though to not want them down, that's up to you.

How is the statues a spit in the face to me when my great, great grandfather fought for the Union Army? The confederates LOST.

Asking how protesting against statues will actually affect my everyday life should be a legitimate question. No straw man argument.

The statues to me represents the participation trophy for the civil war. It says to me "look you tried, you did some good shit in battle, but your ass still loss". We should learn what they did in war, how they were as a person, and learn from that.

BTW, you brought up Trump when I ask why didn't Obama make this an issue. Evidently, you couldn't answer that question.

In all seriousness, this is all a waste of time. If we took down all of the statues within the hour, you will bitch about not getting them down sooner.

First of all it's the Democratic Party, not the Democrat Party as racist Republicans insist on calling it. Second you conveniently skated around the charge you made that 90% of us voted for the party responsible for slavery. Again that party is now the Republican Party so you saying 90% of us voted Republican is just wrong. Your seem to enjoy arguing just for the sake of arguing. Rather than address the main issue of these Confederate Statues being a constant reminder of bigotry and oppression you'd rather argue that doesn't matter, instead the political party in power at the time of their installment does. That, my friend, is what's known as a "red herring". :hmm:

who cares about the civil war participation trophies though....?

BTW, who to stop them from tearing down our statues too? I guess you are cool with that.

The descendants of black people victimized by Confederates and their supporters care. You obviously do not and that's a shame.
As to "who to stop them from tearing down our statues too", I'm all for that if they honor those guilty of comparable atrocities.
Now name one... :hmm:

This is what you call "rewriting history".

What is the democratic party's history? Andrew Jackson, Jefferson Davis, Woodrow Wilson, and lets not talk about how FDR made deals with southern democrats to ease anti-lynching laws. He did that in order to get most of the New Deal policies to pass congress.

All I was saying was, since we are getting rid of monuments that represents SLAVERY/OPPRESSION, how about getting rid of the democratic party? I was speaking on making a new party to take its place.

You may want to really think about it seriously. Things aren't looking good for either political party these days.

To be honest, it wouldn't matter. They will argue that since we are past that age, we don't need any statues recognizing that era.

I don't agree with it, but I'm pretty sure that argument will be made.

Honestly, I still think all of this is counterproductive, and a waste of time.

Jeez, I'll try one last time. We already have gotten rid of the Democratic Party responsible for slavery, because it is now known as the Republican Party and comprised of the type that used to make up the Democratic Party circa 1865. Why is that so hard for you to process? You keep advocating getting rid of the Democratic Party when it is really the Republican Party you want gotten rid of.:hmm:

I never seen any of those shits to worry about them...... But I don't live in those backwood hickville towns either. Barkley has said some out of touch things in his life. What he said here is "ok".
No you see them you just have not paid attention to them. Brother I know was complaining and did not know he went to a college with the founder of the KKK on the building nor that a statute was in the town square. The are in every major city that fought the civil war north and south. The hick towns are were you don't find them.

I also agree with Barkley, we focus on the dumb shit instead of trying to get cheap education, decent housing and better schools. Fuck them statues, if everyone of them came down how would your life change. If we protest these shitty teachers and substandard inner city living conditions and put our money into our own community how would your life change. Keep letting them throw your dumb asses a bone and watch them fuck you over even more. While them statues coming down your voting rights will be eroded, the next crime bill like the one the Clintons stuck us with will finish off the rest of us.

LOL they are really comparing a crime to a statue....

And yet I don't remember ONE thread created ever on BGOL where we discussed how much confederate statues affected our mental states and needed to come down.
