Conor McGregor Announce Retirement From UFC.... Calling It Quits At Age 31......

its fake news yall.eh just wanted his name to be talked about and guess what...yall talking about him ..this dude retired 4 times you dont remember.conor just want that attention sine he isnt fighting rright now.

His last three fights made him more than anyone else in the UFC (damn shame :smh: ), plus he got outclassed in his two losses so he won't generate those same ppv numbers.
He probably come back next year if Dana opens the checkbook.

Conor won all of his fights because he was bigger than most of the guys he fought.
As soon as he moved up, he found out quickly that he couldn’t be a bully anymore.
He sees the writing on the wall.

most of the fanbase and management is MAGA and some of the black fighters lean that way (or feel uncomfortable speaking up)
I think it was easier to appease figthers when there was more money to be made in the cases of Jones, Cideou, Masdival and Conor are all household names and/or multiple champs. They wanna be paid like that pandemic be damned.

UFC paymodel is all fucked
i guess its because boxers are legimtately independent contractors who are signed with promoters vs UFC fighters that are also independent contractors but once they signed with the UFC have limited bargaining power

damn shame when a mid-carder fighter makes less than i do in a year in a fight even with bonuses. that shit aint right (especially when you consider they only fight a few times a year and have to pay for their camp.

its 2020 and i would guess most of their fighters still have day jobs or coach to supplement their income. Their 2 time world HW champ is still an active fireman. I dont think he is doing it because he loves the job. What major sports do you have where the most of the talent still have day jobs to make ends meet.

the UFC also limited the money fighters could make once they signed the exclusive deal with Reebok
imagaine the NBA making a player get rid of their Nike sponsorship because the league was sponsored by Addias

ufc pulls shit that is only really comparable to the WWE & the WWE aint a real sport but they both take advantage of independent contractors and their contracts are one way (they can cut you but you can almost never get outta contract early)

Dana & company has a fiefdom. Its good their parent company's bottom line and could fight their fans (part of the reason why usually get the fights we want) but it sucks for the fighters

Damn, Dana White might hate wrestling but he's definately taken plenty of pages from Vince McMahon's playbook.

I'm not sure. I only caught clips of their fights. They still have their big fanbases, so they'll probably be able to coordinate a 3rd one.

Makes you wonder what some of the subscription numbers are like in recent months (lack of pro sports) for platforms like DAZN, ESPN+, Showtime, TSN, etc.

He is trying to exploit his labor force to make himself a billionaire like Vince McMahon and Haim Saban did.

Agreed - I'm all for additional organizations and outlets. More ways for people to build their names & get paid. Really happy to see the Big3's moves in recent years w/ former pros.

correct me if i am wrong but isnt dana a worker?
how can he decide who is getting a certain amount

Dana owns 9% stake and basically runs the UFC, Endeavor has final say and can override him but for the most part that'll be rare and he calls the shots for the most part

correct me if i am wrong but isnt dana a worker?
how can he decide who is getting a certain amount

Connor took that ass-whipping, built his brand, made some whiskey, and went back to UFC for some more recognition and resigned again.

Dude seems to know what he's doing, just enough to keep his name hot in the street until something big comes up.

He may have known the UFC is only for recognition only, get the marketing and GTFO.

Dana got that Blue-Collar MMA image going in his favor, hence why he acts like a bro damn near 50 years old.

He's exploiting his workforce, getting these "hungry" guys, paying them crap, marketing them and when they want money they're allowed to leave.

I'm giving Dana 2 years tops before he steps down and chills somewhere in Cali for the rest of his life, he made his millions and sees that the block is hot and people waking up, dude gonna bounce soon.

I was listening to an MMA podcast earlier and they were saying that he's probably holding out for the Diaz trilogy fight, or Floyd rematch. Both guaranteed big money earners for all parties involved. Too many risks at 155 and 170lbs collectively (Masvidal, Usman, Felder, Nurmagomedov, Burns, Gaethje) at the moment. They don't have as much name value as Diaz / Mayweather and could all beat him. Plus, the empty venues presently. His events earn big gate $ for the attendance (Vegas, NY, etc), and larger PPV buys (and the buyrate incentive clauses involved).

Can't have the big event feel without the major crowd.

Diaz hot after his ass-whopping though? I mean, IDK if I would say Diaz is a big draw at this point, yeah he got the meathead crowd but he got whopped heavy by Jorge.

I agree with you at 170, that ass-whipping from Usman may be life-damaging, I can imagine Conor doesn't want any serious punishment (MMA) hence why he's considering some boxing and he's not that old 32 I think.

UFC ass whipping ain't worth it for the pay, boxing is better and he got the attention of Oscar also which is a good thing.

What if Conor leaves MMA and just have a short boxing career and is a decent, not great fighter and can pull 7-10 mil a fight? I think he would like that.

What do you think Oscar can offer him? A rematch with Floyd is a good idea since Floyd will go easy on him = easy money.

Lots of the media and fans were saying the Fertitta brothers, former matchmaker Joe Silva, and others were smart to depart when they did after the WME-IMG (or Endeavor) buyout some years back at 4 or 4.2 billion. Everyone got paid, but Dana chose to stay on for several more years.

I wish they'd replace his ass too.

Look at how much better received by fighters, fans & media alike others are with other organizations. Guys like Scott Coker, Chatri Sityodtong, Victor Cui, Shannon Knapp, and more. Fighters speak favourably of them.

Good points. Yeah - Diaz took lots of damage in that Masvidal fight last November.

Usman is the real deal. I wish he had more star power & respect in the sport.

Conor would definitely need plenty of favorable match-ups in boxing. Needs to work on his cardio too. It's unfortunate that his fight with Cerrone was so quick (less than 1 minute). I wanted to see that one go 15 - 25 mins. Especially as it doesn't tell you much about either fighter, win or lose, when it ends so quickly (and Cerrone's already on a current losing streak - against tough guys like Gaethje, Ferguson, and recently Pettis).

Not sure how much Oscar would offer him in a co-promotion.

I want to see Masvidal get paid though. He paid his dues for many years before cashing better checks within the past year. All those years with the UFC, Strikeforce, Bellator, Bodog, and AFC.

His debut with AFC goes back 17 years to May 2003. Damn.

I agree

Interesting side notes (just looking at records now). Masvidal's first pro loss was to Assuncao 15 years ago in April 2005.

Assuncao's been a consistent top 10 guy in his division for many years.

He's currently on a 3-fight losing streak now (first in his career) after getting highlight-reel KO'd by Garbrandt on Saturday.

Garbrandt himself was coming into the fight on a 3-fight losing streak of his own.

Both of them have losses to cheater Dillashaw. Garbrandt's lost twice to Dillashaw. Assuncao is 1-1 against him.

Dana White along with Vince McMahon and Haim Saban are the 3 shadiest in sports and showbiz and that's saying a lot. WWE, UFC, and Power Rangers talent have been exploited by them on crazy levels

You talking bout Power Rangers fam?

In a MMA thread? Hahaha....

I mean, you're right..they get a new batch of kids every 2-3 years now it seems like..

Still funny though, haha
