Nothing about any of this is as simple as we would like it to be.
We know there is hypocrisy in how white cops deal with white people versus black people. But there are examples of cops killing white folks when situations could have been handled differently.
We know there are situations where white people have done some crazy shit, and if the races were reversed, it would be a different outcome for us.
All of these are effects of systemic racism. This isn't anything new to us.
However, every situation is unique regardless of how we see racism, especially this one. Some people picture their child as the one about to get stabbed.
So it becomes less about race and more about being a parent. One less, two less, or three fewer shots could have ended up with the child being stabbed in the neck. We don't really know, except that four shots prevented a stabbing. Any scenario after that fact is hypothetical, but let's assume the cop fails to prevent the girl from stabbing the other resulting in death; what then? The discussions will shift to something totally different, but the race card will not be pulled in the same way because the cop didn't kill the black teen that stabbed the other black teen. It becomes a different discussion.
For me, it's hard to have any solid moral grasp on this particular situation. It's a total fail all around by everyone involved.
