How many people plan on watching this tonight and tomorrow?? The issue tonight is supposed to be The Black Woman & Family...

I for one am definitely going to be viewing this and probably commenting as it goes along. I like when Soledad O'Brien does specials...

yeah can someone tell me if i got this right....she has been doing black in america for an entire year or something like that?

damn...i wonder is there a way to get a dvd of the entire thing.

I plan on watching this. I enjoyed the "Daughters of Legacy" program that aired last week, so this one should be pretty good as well...

I'm about to watch it. I'm putting my faith in Soledad. The point is not to show BLACK people about being black in America. It's to show everybody else. I just hope it's real and there's no sugar-coating

I will watch it in observance and play Carl Orff's "O, Fortuna" to compliment the mood of despair I will have while watching O'Brien's commentary.

Fuck their sub human opinion.

Fuck showing them shit.

Get over it, " Other " people don't give a damn about black people. The less a cracker knows about my business the better. Square biz.

I half-feel you. I don't care about them knowing my business, cause I got shit to hide, but I don't give a damn about what they think, or how they feel.

The people who hate us aren't going to watch this anyway, it's cognitive dissonance

For real, Whitey knows all about being Black...THEY CREATED THE SITUATIONS MOST OF US ARE IN. The fuck showing shit gonna do but have liberal Blacks glad-handing each other saying "Yeah, finally somebody gets it" and piss off crackas even more.

On a side note, first you take my freed slave gimmick and now you're using square biz? :smh: :)

She did research for 18 months or something like that...

They had to make a whole special about the same story and statistics they show daily? I have only seen one segment about black women, and that was before the show aired... I don't know how helpful this is....

So . . . .

. . . . was there some insinuation that the lighter skinned, successful woman . . . doesn't need a marriage = Strength and independence .. . meanwhile, ( An I think all black women are beautiful ). The darker skinned, less attractive/successful woman perhaps wanted marriage = weakness and dependence??

Well its bullshit so far. I hope it gets better. Otherwise Soledad could have saved this one. CNN could have ran this 80's movie. Same basic info..:smh::smh:

This shit is pissing me off. These aren't just Black issues, these are poor people issues of every race. Poverty knows no race or color.

yeah, exactly. we have health and education disparities...and den? lol...nothing. talk about underfunding to inner city schools and hospitals or SOMETHING!

From the last few comments, it seems like the show is not meeting up to (some) people's expectations. I missed the first 40 minutes of it, so I'm not currently watching it. I'll check it out when it re-airs. Is it really that bad? :dunno:

or at least talk about health, blood pressure, hypertension and how our diet was adopted, and passed down from slaves and how that affects us..the show mentioned it, then had the professor talk about a salt theory, wtf

Basically ...

Man .. you know what. Fuck it. No-Robeson.

This series is a hot steaming, putrid, fuming, pungent load of organic fecal matter (with scattered kernels of corn in it).:hmm:

A shamelessly ridiculous caricature of 'the black struggle' intended to elicit "white-guilt" and/or sympathy - not empathy ... and this is key word. Stupid muhfuckas :smh:

A worthless excuse to assemble a panel of quasi-intellectuals to engage in rhetorical banter, verbal masturbation and rational impotence :hmm: ... ejaculating dilute insubstantial answers and offering stupid unrealistic solutions and long drawn-out CACesque formalisms to a glaringly obvious CAC-derived state of bullshit that stems from the history of a country Deeboed by CACs.

*... pauses to breathe ... takes a bite of lasagna, chewing with mouth open ...*

I'm watching this bullshit episode about the "woes' of successful black women in America. Way more sistas in college, in corporate America, intimidating "blue-collar" or "uneducated" brothas, dating issues, yap, yap, yap. Boo-fucking-hoo.
This Hennessey bottle shape headed sista said the solution is to "... date outside your race"

:hmm:

Da fuck? Bit... I mean , muhfuka that was the genesis of the fucking issue in the first place! Ahistorical goblin looking ass. :smh:

This (contaminated) CACazoid CNN pawn, Soledad O'Brien, (stupid name by the way) animated melodramatic lookin' ass, prancing all over the place, asking dumb questions, when the simple answer is:

CAC's hold all the aces (control the capital) and don't, have never and will never, give a fuck about . :hmm:

In the infamous and wise words of "The Ugly" to "The Bad" in the Clint Eastwood flick: "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly":

"If you gonna shoot, shoot, don't talk." :hmm:

Idiots.

I'm sorry, but this special is shitting on black people more than anything. Like someone else said, these are people issues.

Nope. It wasn't. Soledad was on Steve Harvey yesterday and she basically said the series was there to get some dialogue going and that's exactly what is happening. If you go to CNN.com you can see some of the old videos and articles and get a feel for how these are done. I think that's why some people had different expctations going in if they weren't familiar with the format. I can't wait for the one with black men tomorrow.

Everybody that is upset with the series: what is your main issue? Everything those people said can be found right here on BGOL from one poster or another. This is a conversation. Are you really annoyed with what was said or is it the fact that it was all on a nationwide broadcast?
