tony allen did all he could do on that one. one of those bigs needed to come and block from the weak side. there was no way he could have gotten a good pass off with that amount of time and a score. plus he was off balance too

3. make the clippers take 12+ ft jump shots... and just let crawford throw-up as many as he likes.
do these 3 things and memphis wins easily.

second, coach hollins has improved the grizzlies record every season he's been there, and did it while never having the same starting 5 in any season.

having post offensive threats like marc gasol and zach randolph isn't as effective when the opponent can sag off, pack the paint, and/or double whenever they please
if they want to defeat the clippers, the grizzlies are going to have to pressure the ball and take it out of chris paul's hands.
trying to force feed the post is why the fakers lost G1. throwing the ball into congestion is never a good idea.

problem is, nobody outside of keyon dooling is a respectable outside threat to keep the clippers honest.
so one of the best defensive teams in the league shouldn't play their bigs and let the other team win with a layup

I mean that the offense should start there primarily for a reason that you mention from time to time.
Starting the offense from there forces the defense to have to rotate.
It is true that Memphis still has to hit jumpshots but by not going inside out it allows the Clippers defense to better nullify Memphis on the perimeter

jamal crawford
matt barnes
blake griffin
notice that 4 of the 5 are deep threats and spread the floor.
here is the 5 that the grizzlies put on the floor:

that's the grizzlies best 5 in that situation, IMO.

basic fundamental basketball philosophy. but it's difficult to put that template over the grizzlies.
because as much as people like to point out the size of marc gasol and zach randolph, the unfortunate truth is that the grizzlies are still a very poor shooting team.
10th WORST overall in FG% as a team.
what's WORSE is that their low post threat (zach randolph) is only a 46% shooter.

inside out is a good idea. inside out can still be successful. but FORCING inside out when the opponent D isn't being kept honest is a trap. unfortunately, there are low basketball IQ morons who scream "post, post, post" or suggest "get your ass on the block and don't move till u get it" in spite of what the D shows you.

and this is why i'm scratching my head. conley is the most INCONSISTENT point guard in the league shooting the ball... and is too small & too light in the ass to consistently penetrate and challenge the bigs.

I think you need 2 good shooters on a team to keep defenses honest. The three is too big a weapon these days.
I would post a whole bunch of articles about why this is so and why more teams are emphasizing it going forward

I think you both are right ...finding two and keeping them would be hard to do. Just look at what okc had to do in the off season
well there is talk that they might look to trade Randolph or Tony Allen.
but I am not one to espouse trading for trading sake. A trade should fulfill a need and Memphis' immediate concern apparently seems to be shedding payroll ahead of the new CBA
Wasn't Rudy there last season??? JJ Reddick would be a nice help to stretch the floor.
