it's something I heard that came out of the meeting they had today, I def don't follow closely enough to know the validity, all I know is that this country is going to hell in a hand basket and we have never looked more devided and weak in the eyes of the world. Sad times

Immigration has historically never been good for black people. We wouldn't need said "allies" if the people that came in through Ellis Island didn't trade in their ethnic identity to become white and do the grunt work for WASPs by oppressing us.

We can be empathetic to the oppression of others (especially children) but our numbers are too minute and our resources are too strained to fight any other wars than our own right now. We have historically been "allies" to everyone else's causes but our agendas just get further maligned. OUR babies are dying from poisoned water, bullets, and a Draconian justice system but it's forgotten because this is the agenda of right now.

Democrats are right now fighting for legislation for people that aren't even citizens while the needs of Black America citizens that are in crisis get set aside. We need them to be able to multitask not BGOL members.

We are under attack but way too many of one group in particular that would check (WHITE/Hispanic) on a form in a heartbeat put a badge on or become a trigget happy neighborhood watch man to gun down children. We have to align ourselves with like minded entities regardless of color or background to achieve our goals...

We don't know anything with 100 percent certainty. But that should not control our intent, purpose, or actions.

Civil rights leaders took major risks to effect change. They could never be sure if the person working side by side with you wasn't a CIA plant, etc. Or that an alliance with an outside race, class, or NGO wouldn't backfire on them. But they got certain goals accomplished through cooperation and consensus.

You never fully get what you want in politics...there is always negotiation. Their struggle may not be ours today but it sure was yesterday and might be again tomorrow if we don't act now.

No doubt but I think their struggle is still ours and could be an indication of what our children could possibly face in the criminal justice system.

We're already incarcerated at a much higher rate with much longer sentences which has included teenagers. If they're willing to do this to children this young with everyone watching and can get away with it imagine how easily they can sell incarcerating black children and teens by portraying them as criminals.

Man, reading some of these other responses I can't help but think about how lucky I am that a sense of honor and standards was instilled in me earlier on in life. I took it for granted but fuck.... this idea of "conditional" honor or "dependent" standards feels so fucking weak to me. You might as well be a leaf blowing in the wind with that kind of outlook.
