Never had a fire stick does it have Google play store on it?
Although fire sticks are made by Amazon, they are known and popular because they are so easy to jail break or side load.
By default, they do not come with the play store, but as I said above it is easy to add.
that or get something with the google store on it already

This. Get an Nvidia Shield. I have a couple of Firesticks and FireTV boxes around the house, but the Nvidia Shield blows them away and has Google Play store already.
Jail breaking is relative to IOS. No need to hack the TV. Just get a HD Firestick. Then enable the option to install applications from unknown sources. From there you can install apps like Mobdro, Typhon TV, Tea TV and many more. I use an app called "apps to fire" to send apps from my phone or tablet directly to the Firestick. Yes, there is a service code that gives you god mode, only limits you to hardware installed and limits of your model.

There are setting where you can install third party software from the usb, but like I basically said fuck with these settings at your own risk.

I got that first generation chromecast and with those you can't. Everything work off the phone as far casting to a TV.
Second that emotion. Have 3 shields in the crib. replaced all my Rokus over time

My roku has been good money but i noticed all the cable companies trying to move off it.
So instead of buying another 99 premiere box i was considering a shield and hollering at Adam Knows.
Is the 199.99 version overkill?
I got pro model 1st generation. Only difference I see looking at specs is one more gb of ram and more storage plus a SD card slot. If you plan on downloading, saving alot of shit then roll with that one. I know people use Plex with shields as well. If you just doing straight streaming then the 149 is fine.

Nah man. With Chromecast you can mirror your phone screen to a bigger screen or any other screen from that matter. I've got one of them in a box some where as well. The Firestick doesn't even have to have Amazon service on it. However, if you already have an Amazon account you're in on the Amazon movies. I tend to suggest Firesticks because they are cheap and easy to use. Right now it's 30 Click Here
