Can you be too "black"???

Let me put this perspective...

You are out w/ your friends and you are the only african or african american one in the group....Hey "Shaniqua" let me get you a drink...Hey "Tyrone Jenkins" what you drinking on?
Hey "Kunta Kente" do you want something to drink?

I hope that makes sense

A sista doing it....I can only shake my head...

Makes sense to me. She was going to get him drunk and then call him Mandingo when he threw that dick on her.

Wow.

What is strange indeed is that she is your complexion. Usually people make remarks when there is a difference. Like light skinned to dark skinned in our race or light skin(northern Euro) to Dark skin(Mediterranean Euro) in the white race.

I just hate when our problems are made out to seem like we are the only ones that do that kind of thing. Just like I hate the term 'black on black violence'. We don't call the American Civil war the ' Great white on white violence war'.

Where you from? All the women ive met from the islands are color struck & prefer light/mixed men. I was just on the phone with a friend from the Bahamas & she was talking about how she's staying in the house because she didnt wanna get dark due to the sun. gimme a break with this culture shit.

Your friend has her reasons don't judge that proud sista.

She totally threw me for a loop.

I was not expecting that shit in 2009...

:smh::smh::smh:

Are you serious?? That type of mentality has been prevalent in our children since 1863. If we are lucky and have parents with some knowledge of self, we will grow out of it, but the damage has already been done to the entire black nation from top to bottom. I heard little 6-10 year olds in the park teasing darker skinned children about being "too black" earlier TODAY

They were kids doing what many people grew up doing. They are just kids they might not know any better.

 nah i'd never judge her, but my point was self hate spreads across the board and is not exclusive to any 1 group. It's always easier to point out others faults, but when addressed cant even acknowledge their own.

Sistas come out the woodwork when You are in a great relationship. I found out something similar to what your homegirl said. True I got you.

Lame attempt at a joke....

She is the same complexion as me.

This is what disturbs me, and what I've been talking about with a house being divided not being able to stand. If she's a black girl this kind of statement is taken as a lame joke. If she'd been white this thread would be 20 pages long about all the racisms white folks have against black folks.

I hate this internal racism, but I hate even more that it's accepted and okay.
