Ok for a start, a year ago I bought BOSE acoustic 15 noise cancelling Headphones and since then I've resolved annoying the baby cries whenever I'm on the plane.They are designed with the traveller in mind.

But when I lost my MBP at Heathrow recently the headphones were inside the laptopbag and thinking or replacing BOSE with DRE headphones. Not sure if its a good idea but to be honest I cant say much about DRE headphones as Ive never used theso wouldnt mind to hear your opinions

i have both and if you want to use them for flights stick with the bose the dre's are not going to give you the noise canceling that you like about the bose on your flights.
 
The Dres have the CLEANEST bass I've ever heard for headphones (within their price range). But I feel that they're geared more towards the Popular music market than stuff like Jazz or Classical. I'm more of a "treble" guy now that I'm older. So I like my music a bit on the high-end.

And now that you see everyone and their Momma sporting Dres all over this city for the last year, I think the cans are more a status, hip thing if anything.

And I've never been a fan of noise-cancelling headphones.
They sound like you're listening in a wind tunnel.
Block out too much of the highs and lows.

You can't go wrong with anything by Sennheiser...and I love my Shure buds.
 
Like Doggish I own both (QC3), and Beats. I agree that for use on flights & keeping crying babies out of your head that the Bose can't be beat. But for overall sound "music" quality I have to go with the beats. To go one step further I also own a pair of Shure in ear (don't remember which model), Beats in ear, Bose in ear, and Monster Turbine in ear headphones. All purchased over the past 10 years. The Monster Turbine in ear are by far the best sounding headphones I've ever listened to. My only problem with them is there metal and a bit heavy so running with them on doesn't work very well. They also get uncomfortable after five or so hours of continuous use. But by far the best overall sound. Lastly, in the past the beats headband wasn't very durable. They tend to split or break (a flaw that I'm sure Monster has corrected by now). The only thing you have to do now is decide on one, the other, or both. Good luck
 
Neither! Go Sennheiser or Audio Technica. Sound much better than either in that price range, or less!
 
Stick with the Bose if you value the noise canceling and superior bass.

I know that people hate bose just like apple, but the bottom line is that their head phones are outstanding.

If you were impressed by how clean the bass is with the Dre headphones were, have a listen to the Sony MDR 7909. Some of the best money I've spent.

My only complaint about the Beat by Dre equipment is they offer almost no sound insolation/isolation at higher levels. I purchased a set (Pro series) around maybe June or July and returned them a few days later. I had planned to use them at work, but the insolation was so poor you could hear my music as if I didn't have them on my head at all. Certainly not worth the price I paid for a set of headphones that are on-ear yet offer so poor insolation.

Dre phones do have a lot of bass, but its weird on-ear. You can feel the driver in the headphone hit up against your ear due to the cone excursion, and it didn't feel comfortable to me. Probably I sign I had them up too high I guess. They have a new model out now (Studio). I wonder if it fixed my complaints about the Pro model.

If your primary need is noise cancelation, then I'd say get the Bose. They are about the best at noise cancelation. But as a set of 'musical' headphones, there are better options. The Dre's are superior to the Bose (IMO) for listening to music. But the Bose are superior with respect to noise cancelation.
 
Some months ago I tested those very same Bose headphones in a shop in London. The sound quality was something else. If I did have the money to spare I would've bought one right there and then.

Cheapest I've seen them for is £319

True, I only use them while djing. I got them for the quality of the sound and isolation. Looks is another issue.

I've had some success with IEMs but the problem is that they are
1. in your ear.
2. Expensive
3. You can't try them out to see which sound good to you.

I got the brown RocNation Aviators and I'm happy. I saw Stevie Wonder w/ them on so I got them instead of the Dre's. The highs aren't strong enough for me on the Dre studios. I have the in ear Dre's, they aren't that comfy but they sound like ur in a club so it works well while walking or just chilling.

The RocNations aren't known for noise canclation but that's fine with me. I always feel like there will be an emergency and I won't kno if I can't hear anything but music unless u touch me. They do have some canclation though. They are only $149 and I'm happy w/ the hi's & bass.

Good look on the refurbs I didn't know monster had them and i've been wanting to get some beats but 300 is way to damn expensive 150 is much better.
 
i copped the Beats. use it mostly connected to my phone for watching movies and listening to music. I never had a pair of headphones for as long as i had these.
 
i have the bose... those headphones are nice... stick with the bose, you cant go wrong... let the music play...:yes::yes:ya'll
 
what the first reply says sums it up. Bose offer superior noise cancellation for travel and things like that. but the Beats (the real ones, not the cheap $150 $200 versions) have superior frequency response from extreme lows and highs and mediocre noise cancellation.
The Beats suck for dj'n (not flexible or durable) and studio use (colors noise too much).

Yeah I figured for half the price what do you have to lose. I picked up the Monster Turbines in ear joints myself. I like them a lot so far. Great noise cancellation. It's like having ear plugs with music. :lol:

My over the ear's double as my ear muffs in NYC. :yes:

Got these Audio Technica's for my equipment at home, they sound VERY good, and were not that expensive through Amazon.


Also, can't go wrong with the Sony 7506's, although overall, I think the M40fs's sound a little better

my life is always on airport lounges and to be honest the first time I had them on a plane... couldn't hear stupid cry from babies or engines. I thought DRE ones would be better
 
Funny how dudes say they aren't durable, when I see dudes at the gym wearing big ass $200 headphones. :smh:
 
I picked up a pair of the in ear refurb Dre's. I've wanted to try them out, and $50 is cool. Right now I'm using some Klipsch. I go through in ear ones every few months at the gym and refuse to spend over $60, because of it. Had some Sennheiser's that I stepped on and ended up pissed off. My clumsy ass would end up spending $500 a year in earbuds. :smh:
