bump. im looking to copp some new ones. i dont want beats cuz too much people are using them. any suggestions?
They're popular for a reason homes...
Only for the name.
yeah they're popular because of the name and because people are sheeps. That would be a good sign right? They're popular for a reason homes...
I agree.
Most peeps sporting them don't really care so much about real sound quality.
That's not a knock.
It's just that the Dres are the status symbol/"BLING" for the portable Ipod/MP3 player market.
That's essentially how they were marketed.

co-sign. i want an in ear headphones tho. i dont like them big joints. any suggestions?
This comment makes no fucking logical sense. People buy Sony, Bose, and the like for the name as well. What the point?
Monster has created a serious contender to the other popular brands, and they added a popular name to the mix to create buzz. So what.![]()
The sound that the Beat Studios put out is unparalleled.
C'mon Son.

I DIS-AGREE. The marketing has nothing to do with the actually quality of the sound they put out. The sound that the Beat Studios put out is unparalleled.

It has a lot to do with it. They also gave them to popular football and basketball players. So when they're walking to the stadium or off the plane what do you see? That ten second clip of Lebron walking in is basically a commercial. Monster did a damn good job marketing their product.
It's just like Ciroc. It's popular, right? At least among young black people. Is it the best vodka?
It does make sense because, you gotta understand that most folks don't care, or don't know what sound quality is. Before these Beats came out, it wasn't often that you would see folks walking around with huge 350 dollar head rockers. When monster came out with these, they made a fashion statement, and it became the thing to do. Since then, you have seen other brands come out with stylish looking, but sub-par sounding phones. Look at some of the Phiaton's or V-Modas, while they look nice on the head, read some of their reviews.
The thing about headphones that I have noticed is, folks that spend less than 40 or 50 dollars for a set of cheap headphones are generally pleased with what they bought, as they are only upgrading from their included ipod or zunes. When you see people that are spending 2-300 dollars folks generally know a lot more and are able tell the difference between quality and shit. The thing is, most people that I know that have the Beats, this was their first time spending this kind of money on headphones, so sure it was an upgrade for them.
I have the Studios, had the Solos, but broke them so took them back. The Studios are not a bad headphone, but they should be less than 150 dollars. My Shure 440's were 100 dollars when I bought them and the first time I put them on, I felt ripped off for buying the Beats.
Bottom line, Sennheiser, Shure, AKG, Audio-Technica, Beyerdynamic, Grado >>>>>> far superior >>>>>>>>>> to the Beats. Style is their strong point.
I would suggest you drop by one of those pro audio shops like the Guitar Center, where they have a wall of headphones on display and let you listen to them with your own equipment.
The reviews tell the tale. Pricey and Showy, but they don't disappoint...
So are you attempting to say if something is marketed well, it can't be a very good product? If so, you are very dim sir. I understand your type. Folk like you avoid anything popular regardless of quality in an attempt to be different. I get it. But if you choose to be that way, at least be objective...
I think you missed my post thats a few posts above yours...
Even the audiophiles give the Beats their props... No one said they were a value, but they are a serious contender to the other cans out there... And they just so happen to be stylish as well.

When I see someone rocking 'Bose' or 'Beats' headphones I know they have no clue about sound.
All this but no recommendations...
Also, can't go wrong with the Sony 7506's, although overall, I think the M40fs's sound a little better

Open your eyes.
I posted 3 in this thread.

I've owned the 7505s & 7506s before (but never 7509s). They're great overall headphones.
These are what I'm currently rolling with. Over the ear studio quality sound with a really flat & even frequency response. They don't over emphasize any frequency range, so if you're looking for something with a boosted low-end look elsewhere. Only prob I have with them is that they're really big so going outside w/ them will look funny.
I tried the Dre solos for the first time about 2 weeks ago @ best buy. I thought the solos were way too flimsy for the price. I can see them easily breaking is mishandled. But they sounded decent (a little bass heavy for my taste). Probably great for hip-hop, rock or any electronic music & would serve 90% of the general public well.
Good and being the best or worthy of their $350 price tags are two different things.
Your comment was it must be good, because of how popular they are. That's inaccurate and one almost always has nothing to do with the other. You can look up reviews online.
And what the fuck are you talking about, I bought the Dre earbuds to try them out. You might want to read peoples replies instead of assuming.![]()

This is where your argument fails and you opinion became meaningless. The studios are decent headphones. My point was that they were simply overpriced. Once you said that their sound was unparalleled, it was very hard to take anything else you said seriously.
And your opinion is meaningless to me as well, and you have failed to demonstrate why YOUR unfounded opinion means more than anyone else in this thread.
Ive said they were overpriced numerous times. It does not take back the fact that they are one of the best set of headphones on the market; your "implied" knowledge of sound and attempt at arrogance notwithstanding.![]()
