Bose or Dre Headphones

Got some black earbuds from a friend of mine about a year and a quarter ago. They work well (gym/work) with the Ipod Touch and I run 'em a number of hours a day. Can't remember the brand and they're not marked on the buds. Believe they're from a former smartphone of his.

I just ordered these based on reviews on youtube. Any

I love some of the Sony XB line.
They have nice sound quality.

But DAMN!!! if those shits don't make you look like this...

They went from being unparalleled, to now just one of the best. YOUR dumbfounded statements show me that I have no reason to go back and forth with you. You call it arrogance, we are talking about headphones negro relax. You were going, "This comment makes no fucking logical sense." - on some high and mighty shit. My point was, them shits are ok, but they are not all that. Is that less arrogant enough? We can get on some arrogant shit like some Hilman College alumnae from the Cosby show or we can get in to some technical shit. Either way, I will smash your argument (especially technical). Relax fam. I'm relaxed and you know this ain't personal.

So something cant be unparalleled, and one of the best at the same time?

Illmatic isn't unparalleled lyrically, and one of the greatest albums of all time?:confused::confused:

Anybody mess with the Sennheiser HD 555s? I'm thinking about ordering a pair tomorrow.

I'm sold on the comfort and I've read that the mids are great, but I'm concerned about the bass and the highs. I listen to southern rap, rnb/soul and reggae. I don't need the bass to be thumping, but I need that bassline to be strong enough to feel. And for the highs to be crisp.

I've been using the Sennheiser HD 201s. I love them, I thought the sound was great, I just needed it to be a little louder. So instead of just getting another pair for 20 bucks, I wanted to upgrade to a better sound for about 100 bucks.

I love good pair of over the ear headphones, but I break ever single pair by yanking, stepping or sitting on the cord. Then the sound starts going out in one ear.

I eventually just went with these Sony DR-BT50 Bluetooth headphones.

I might need to cop those, I'm always fucking up some headphone jacks because I keep yanking on them to pick up my mp3 player when I drop it :smh:

As you can see, I've used the fuck outta them. I'll be replacing the earpads now that I've found where I can get them from.

I bought these around January. They they sounded like crap, until I built an amp for them. It just now dawned on me how long they have been out as you see them in this Mint Condition video.

You see them a lot in many movies from the mid 90's.

Do not get the Dre-Studios, I had them! Get the Beats Pro! I have alot of Experience with Headphones and yes the Sony MDR's are good, Sennheiser HD's are good and I had some Beyerdynamic Beyerdynamics DT770's that were great! I just copped the Beats Pro and theyy are the BEST Joints I ever owned....plus I love the Aluminum Casing!

:hmm:

Those Dre headphones are highly overrated. If you are an audio engineer, stay away from them. If you are just a casual listener, go for whatever sounds best to you.
Bose are for audiophiles who listen to different genres of music. The Dre headphones are mainly for people who listen to mostly rap. They are good for that genre but you start hearing the flaws in the headphones in the upper midrange. Bottom-heavy music sounds good but ANYTHING ELSE sounds like bass is being forced into the music. If you listen to jazz, classical or rock, forget these.
Sonys are solid as fuck and give the best flat response on the market. There is a reason everybody used the 7506s.
Sennheizers are some of my favorite headphones to listen to music in. That said, like the Dre headphones, they lie to you. I like the bass enhancement of the Sennheizers better than the Dre headphones. A LOT better. Its smoother and less forced.
The Audio Technica ATH-A700 cans are off the hook but be ready to come out of pocket for them.
Ironically, the good Dre headphones are the earbuds. So far, they are the only decent earbuds I've heard. I generally hate earbuds with a passion.

What you are saying is True for the Dre Studio's but NOT for the Pro's !....Only thing I heard better are Ultrasone's but thats overkill if you just wanna listen to some Music...

Ultrasone makes many different headphones, which model are you talking about?

BTW, at their price point the Beats are some of the worst cans on the market, the Beats Pro list at $449 and come with some bullshit 40mm drivers.

Of course U are gonna Pay a lil' extra for the Name but trust me...the Beats Pro are worthwhile.

Ultrasone has the EDITION - LINE ........seeeerious Biz! The Edition 8 thru 10 are like a wet Dream for me!

The 10's come in at about $2700

A lot of what you say is very true. What you have to understand is that headphones, themselves, are only part of the equation. There are many other variables.

There are folks that spend 250-300 on some DT990's and think that they are crap, simply because they are using them with portable devices, that don't have the power to drive them.

It's not just about power either. Think about a formula 1 car. The team spends a massive amount of money on R&D in order to create a machine that is perfectly balanced. Suspension tuned to perfection. Take 300 lbs off of this same car, most would expect this car to be faster. It's not always faster.

About flat frequency response. I care about that, just like you. But not everyone does. I personally don't want to hear massive amounts of base right at my ear. But remember, there are folks riding around in cars with 15" subs, and 4000 watt amps.

About Bose being for audiofiles. I doubt that you would go in to any high end audio store or any music studio and find very many Bose audio products.

Their noise cancellation is the shit though. You don't even have to play music to cut out ambient drone.

It's all about impedance, higher impedance cans won't vibe well without a amplifier, the Beyer DT990's come in 32, 250, and 600 ohm versions.

The 32 ohm 990's would work great without amplification.

:yes:Go into a high-end store and ask for Bose, they would laugh...behind your back at least.

I equate Bose with Monster cable...both are for people who don't know better.

Not that they are bad products...but there is just so much more out there, for less.
Both are companies that spend a huge amount on advertising...and prey on those who are not really informed.

The "this cable must be good,it cost 80 dollars" folks:lol:

been rocking these for 2 yrs i luv them u can get them for bout $100 now. Beats is for flashy niggas

Whenever I speak of Bose, assume its about their noise canceling headphones.
They charge much too much for their products but its like Sony - Sony doesn't make the best everything but they know they can get a few more bucks because their name is on the label, so they go for it.

Sony makes some of the most affordable headphones on the market, you can pick up a pair of Sony MDR-XB700 cans for less than $100, and they feature 50mm drivers compared to the Beats 40mm units.

I own one moster cable. I have owned it about four times, though.
Seriously, the only thing great about them is the lifetime guarantee. You can just walk into the store, hand the cable in and get a brand new one. Since I bought mine at 35% off, it was a good deal for me. They put a 1k capacitor in the guitar and a 500 ohm one in the bass cables. That very, VERY slight difference in EQ has sparked all kinds of debates online over them. Buy the cheapst cable with a lifetime guarantee and you're good. If a cord makes that big of a difference in your sound, you have other problems with your system. Either your instrument is a piece of shit or your amp is.

I wasn't talking about their headphones. I own many Sony headphones. I was talking about their general brand practices. For example, their t.v.s are overpriced because they know they can get the dough. They are decent but they are slightly overpriced simply because they are sony. Their DVD players were nothing special back in the day but they priced them like they were. Certain products ride off the Sony name while others are really good. That's the game they play.

Yes I know about the different impedances. The lower impedances are compromises though. Electrically speaking, they really are not the same headphones. It's really not a linear relationship.
The 600ohm version, definitely needs an amp, and while the 32ohm version can be pushed easier by portable devices, you always sacrifice quality.
If there wasn't a difference, all headphones would would be lower impedance.

They sound ok, but the quality sucks for how expensive they are and they're the worst fitting ear buds of all time :smh:

I travel extensively and enjoy their comfort for very long flights and how effective the noise canceling feature reduced fatigue on long-hauls.

Their home theatres are over priced admittedly but I've yet to see another manufacturer make an All-in-one set with cube speakers smaller than Bose.

I wish some people would stop shitting on brands by assuming that whoever buys them is lacking in knowledge. Sometimes the purchase is a decision made by intelligent people.

made up my mind I'm going with the beats by dre studio.
man I Played D.J Magic Mike TRACK Ultimate Sub Woofer Test :yes::yes:
:itsawrap:

Had these going on 3 yrs now..Sure ec2..cost me 90 bucks..but the bass and treble response is great!!!and because they r in ears there's no outside noise..Love them..Best headphone investment I've made..And I've had allot.
