We're never going to see eye to eye on this so let's just agree to disagree.
My whole point has been she's a Black director with buzz and an Oscar nominated film, so why not have a meeting with her if you're Marvel? It probably wouldn't go anywhere, but they have nothing to lose. Meetings like this happen all the time. Don't know why some cats are up in arms.
Why not have a meeting with her?
Because Ava does NOT make ‘action movies’. Period. That’s WHY.
Yeah, she’s got some skills with ’dramas’… specifically ‘biopics’… but she does NOT have an ‘eye’ for stunts, weapons, or impressive ‘fight scenes’.
That’s a WHOLE different ballgame.
And Marvel is not gonna INVEST millions of dollars into her, when she has NEVER really shot a single ‘battle scene’ (of any kind) in her entire movie-making career.
Seems you just want her to ‘get a shot’ because she is female & black.
And to have a ‘sit-down meeting’ that will eventually go nowhere… and just waste everyone’s time.
Shheeeiiittt.......
If you want a
‘female director’ to make a Marvel superhero movie…… at least here are some others who have REAL EXPERIENCE directing ‘action movies’ & 'battles' onscreen…

Personally, I would sooner call ANY ONE of these females to discuss the Black panther... before I called Ava Duvernay.
In fact, I wish these women WERE Black.
Because I’d call them ‘in a heartbeat’ to discuss directing the Black Panther movie.

Right alongside Antoine Fuqua, F Gary Gray, The Hughes Brothers & John Singleton.
But I would not call Ava Duvernay to discuss the Black Panther movie until she PROVED somehow that she could direct a some good 'action scenes' with some ‘bullets whizzing by’ + a few explosions / or car chases / or collisions / or something with some heavily-armed assault units and/or some extensive ‘hand-to-hand’ combat / or martial arts… like the REST of these females have already done.
Bottom line….
If you need someone to fix your leaky sink… or need an someone to remodel your bathroom…. are you gonna call up an ‘award-winning’ FLORIST to get the job done? Just because s/he won an award recently?
Most folks would call up a ‘general contractor’ who has experience in both plumbing + bathroom renovation.
But from everything you wrote, it sounds like you might actually
‘get a price quote’ from a Florist instead.
So YEAH…. I agree…. we don’t see eye-to-eye.
You want a Black Director for this BP flick….. and apparently ANY ole (female) black director will 'do just fine' by you.
But some of us want a movie director who will direct Black Panther in a high-quality action flick FIRST & FOREMOST... and would prefer that this person is black ALSO

to get the best of BOTH worlds.
