in march it will be one year since i got a perm
but i cant stand this transitioning shit
ive tried two strand twists and varrious other sets
being that i have a s-curl pattern im not understanding why i cant get this shit to look right![]()
Congrats on making it almost one year without a relaxer!.. I barely made 6 months transitioning before I said to hell with it and cut all the relaxed hair off. I do not know how you do your twists, but because you are dealing with both relaxed and natural hair, I would suggest blow drying it before twisting so the textures are as close as possible. I would also suggest not parting your hair as sometimes it can lead to an awkward look when transitioning. IMO twist-outs and braid outs are better than twists especially when transitioning because you don't need to be as neat and they will better mask the appearance of the two textures.
i feel u on the big chop...im doing mine on my year anniversary in march...and that wont be a day too soon cause im SICK of these 2 textures
when i did my twists it was wet...so maybe thats why it looked like hot garbage after i took it down after it was dry
how much new growth did u have after u did the bc? how did u rock it?
I got bored yesterday and tried what Follow-up suggested about the hair straightening but made a few changes to fit my hair type and it actually came out pretty good
So, I have a question. I've stopped cutting my hair since mid-November as I usually do for winter. That will be my last haircut for years to come hopefully. I may one day pursue dreadlocks like my father, but now I am aiming for hair twists ala John Legend and so forth.
How long does my hair have to be for this? How do I go about getting it done properly, maintenance and so forth?
All help and comment would be appreciated.
From looking at John Legend, he only has about 3 inches of hair. If that's too tight of a job for you to do yourself in terms of length and you know someone who can do natural hair in your area you could always make them your regular stylist. Right now, I am wearing protective styles since it's winter. I have two-strands all over. I usually just pour some olive oil in my hair and manipulate the twists with my fingers every three days. Any excess can be absorbed by taking a spray bottle with hot water and giving your head a light spray; or you can just let your hair soak it up. I wrap my head at night with a silk scarf and in the morning, when I take my shower, I leave the scarf on and let the steam hit it. After the shower take it off and run my hands through it from back to front. That will make them "wake up" so they won't have the smashed down, just waking up look.

Thanks for checking it out! Hope you had/have a happy holiday![]()
No thank you,and I really did. How was yours?
Gat damn mothafuckas mad as hell that I straightened my hair out ... all I keep hearing is "what happened ... you were the natural chick ... you aren't supposed to do that" ... I told them it is just a flat iron and not a perm and to shut their white girl loving asses up
Not what I planned for but the best one I've had in years girl, thanks for asking.
I'm just sayin' it was odd cuz a few of them have white girlfriends but they were so mad at my hair being straight ... like if you were never checkin' for natural sistas before what makes you think you can comment on what I should be doing with my hair now??? Shit was just mad backwards and I really did have to tell one of them to shut the fuck up
Sleep well, eat well and exercise daily, because a healthy body means healthy hair. Diet and exercise is particularly important for fast hair growth, as poor quality food lacking in vitamins and minerals will take it's toll on your hair. Additionally, exercise helps to open and clear the pores of the scalp, helping to free the follicles and promote growth.

Anyone tried a Brazilian Hair Mask conditioning treatment.
Got some free in the mail today and was wondering if anyone has any experience with it before I try it.
I have never heard of it, but I am about to google it now![]()
All I found was some BKT thing that contains formaldehyde
I think the next thing I want to try is the Bentonite Clay. I've heard good things about it.
I checked out a few websites, it seems it is a hair "straightening treatment" that uses protein (keratin) and formaldehyde to do so.Formaldehyde is also used in some commercial hair gels/products as well as being used to embalm the dead and thought to be carcinogenic....
