Billions | Showtime Series l discussion thread

B/c everyone in the cast is supposed to be just well read and well cultured
How is everyone in Billions using obscure movie/book references and EVERYONE understands it?

I watch this show out of habit but the writers need to tone this down.

Shit fucks with the hierarchy of the show, was supposed to be Chuck and a few others that spoke like that and thats what separated the big brains from the geniuses but now this shit is ridiculous and everyone speaks like that so it diminishes the value.

My problem is you don't have any characters speaking like a regular person.

lol its not just books. its music pop and historical references too

I can understand the books since most in that level of the business legal

world, had pretty expensive schooling, with a pretty extensive required reading list...

Im almost certain most of the top schools in the countries required reading lists

are pretty much the same...

its the historical and cultural refrences.. where Im like.. how the fuck they ALWAYS know

what a muthafucka is referring too.... I find it interesting tho.... sometimes I pause to google

the reference... but gatdam... Im two episodes behind..

too much shit to watch.. I just realized Atlanta been started...

that first episode was pretty thought provoking...

The season finale sucked!
Entire fucking season sucked.
I stated that from the first two episodes.

One of my favorite shows but lost the entire direction when Axe left. Even the season B4 when they brought Prince on, his whole character with his butt buddy was weak.

Even Wags character changed to become some pussy. How the fuck they completely change all characters to be this stupid ass direction is just lost.

Chuck ain't even the same

season finale was lacking some serious luster....

first off.. you mean to tell me, if I lost a crypto wallet

like a ledger nano s

and somebody, found it, and attempted to get in

and locked it...

I can still access my money by purchasing another ledger

wallet recalling the passcode...isnt this correct.I always thought this was the case...

the funny shit tho, is when that chick thought yo boy, the softer gentler axe...

was going to be pussy whipped, and he was like,

yea ok, its been fun.. get the fuck out lol.. not exactly.. but

he might as well...

but yea.. While I dont think his character the softer gentler axe

sucks per se,

its not an evil enough asshole character to play that role..

People want to see the real cold hearted no soul having wall street type

I dont give a fuck

wall street... they tired of this.. Im a bully behind closed doors

but a sheep in your face bullshit..

I will watch because I cant stop looking at that Chick

Candola Rashad and its going to be interesting to see,

if she stays or flips on dude next season..I love the fact

she is getting a lot of play...

but they need to make the lead more sinister...

It also seems like they are shooting with a cheaper recording

equipment, they must not be getting the same budget they got

before of something, because it shows in the production...

this whole season...weak
everyone trying with clever one-liners, can't keep up
taylor and the guy who looks 15 wearing his daddy's suits is taking over prince's company?
a de-fanged wags?
make it make sense

mike prince is a yawner villain...that is a testament to damian lewis...his leaving killed two series (homeland and billions)...the shows were not the same after he left

next season...bring john malkovich back...with world events being what they are, a russian villian would be very timely...and more believable with the new cold war here

Wouldn't he be sanctioned tho since he's an oligarch?

yep. which is a good premise for bringing him back...a lot of the oligarchs are hiding assets all over the world right now...the latest was that roman abramovich dude...this kind of stuff is right up chuck's alley...he can't stand that someone richer than him could get away with something

explain why this bitch felt the need to tell everyone that she fucked prince..but at the same time was scared she was going to mess up is presidential bid if everyone found out?!?... no body knew but them two

shut your damn mouth and nobody will find out

and they totally glossed over the fact that nobody gives a shit in this day and age anyway.

That bitch enjoyed all the attention the office gave her. Every scene she was grinning ear to ear. A respectable chick would have wanted her fucking , the married boss kept a secret if at all possible. Bitch please

Brian Cox doesn't want Succession to become like Billions: 'That's past its sell-by date'

The legendary actor also shared how he sometimes enjoys "the weed" before bedtime.

Brian Cox is channeling Logan Roy and it appears no one is safe from his cutthroat remarks — not even his pay cable contemporaries.

While discussing the future of Succession with The Times, the powerhouse actor said he has no idea how long the show could go on — "No one's had their contracts renewed," he noted — but that he hopes it won't "overstay its welcome."

Cox didn't need to provide an example of a show that he believes has overstayed its welcome, but he did so anyway, naming the Showtime series Billions. "[T]hat's past its sell-by date. That will not happen with our show."

Brian Cox called Ian McKellen "a sweetheart" but "just not my favorite actor."

While it might be time to say bye-bye Billions in Cox's mind, the Showtime show about the complex lives of New York City's upper crust has largely held its own over its last six seasons and features a powerful cast including Paul Giamatti, Corey Stoll, and Maggie Siff.
After losing fan-favorite Damian Lewis at the end of season 5, EW's critic Kyle Fowle noted that the show initially "struggled to hit its previous highs" before finding its rhythm in the season finale: "a tight, compelling, tense episode that does everything in its power to assure you that, going forward, Billions will continue to deliver the goods." It was subsequently renewed for a seventh season back in February.

If the Billions cast and crew can find comfort in one thing, it's that they weren't the only ones caught in Cox's crosshairs. The Putting The Rabbit In The Hat author clarified multiple comments he made about fellow stars in his book, including Johnny Depp, Steven Seagal, and Ian McKellen.
Cox shared that McKellen was "a sweetheart, nicer as he's gotten older" but that "he's just not my favorite actor." He added, "I'm going up to Edinburgh and he's got his Hamlet on. I've heard it's awful."

The actor also previously said that Depp was overblown, but conceded now that "the public love him." He also shared that he felt sorry for Amber Heard, who he thought "got the rough end of it." As for Seagal, Cox said he "wouldn't waste [his] energy" apologizing for the comments he made about the Under Siege actor in his novel because, as he put it, "[Seagal] was perfectly nice to me. It's just his value system — he's about as Buddhist as my arse."

But Cox wasn't dishing just out negative takes, either. He also revealed that he "loves the weed," which he sometimes smokes before bedtime, and shared a list of celebrities that he does like. Who's on it? Keanu Reeves, Sean Bean, Benedict Cumberbatch, Laura Linney, Robert Downey Jr., Brad Pitt, and Tom Hanks, to name a few. He also said that he admires Michael Caine for "being true to his class."

Just finished the finale.
Must say I was happily surprised. Won't speak on it to spoil it for those who haven't seen it.

Good ending but majority of the season, was too much to swallow how Prince is surrounded by black people who kiss his ass. My minor pet peeve.

The series finale felt complete which many shows fail to do. I agree with you on being happily surprised. It was an ending I definitely could live with as opposed to shows like The Wire(which was still good) and Snowfall, among many others. Lol!

I definitely felt that way leading up to the finale about the black people with Prince. I hated that they were with him during the season, but the ending eased that feeling. Lol!

Overall it was a great show with a satisfying ending. Gonna miss watching it every Friday -Sunday.

For a show that arguably could have ended 2 seasons ago, they managed to stick the landing with this finale. I'm not mad at it. Too many shows these days fuck up their finales by leaving long running questions unanswered or simply refusing to tie off any storylines (I'm looking at you Shameless & Blacklist) in the hopes of coming back someday as a reboot or spinoff. This finale felt finite, they got all the juice out of this world that they could, no need to talk about spinoffs or a reboot 3 years from now, what we got was good and we can leave it at that.
