BGOL Tablet buying guide

it doesn't have a sd slot, i like the idea of expandable memory. but yeah been looking at the nexus too

I feel you on the SD slot but The web Browsing on those cheap tablets is TERRIBLE. Go with the Nexus as only Huge Movie files (Which are pointless on such a small screen anyways) will threaten 8GB's of space.

ICS is Pure Butta and that $199 price point is tough to beat. If I didn't just grab an Ipad 2 I'd be all over that.

Get a Samsung galaxy tab 2 7". It takes a memory card up to 64gb. Only $250.

Ya that lil shit's a beast...copped it a few months ago for reading...I hated reading from my dedicated ereader (e-ink sucks after a while)...the battery life is insane...I also copped the Acer Iconia A200...it's ok cuz I can watch flash sites and shit @ a decent screen size and dl music and shit to a usb drive...but the volume fuckin sucks...battery life is very limited...I have 3 tablets now...still use the iPad 2 for comics/internet

My palms are itching to get the Nexus 7 but I just don't have a justifiable reason to have 2/3 tablets :smh:

Yeah, my daughter loves the SG 7" 2. Its quite loud. You should have gone with the acer iconia a500. My girl has that one and the volume is good.

You dont like the way comics look on the iconia? What app were you using? What are you using on your ipad? Try ComicRack on both devices.

yo i found my tablet but have to wait. the acer iconia tab A110 is droping in the 3rd quarter, 7 inch screen, quad core processor and sd slot for under $200 (prob 199) i'll cop that instead of the kryos

I haven't tried reading comics on the Iconia yet...but I use Comic Zeal for the iPad...practically flawless...I don't like reading from most 10" droid tabs vertically...I went w/ the A200 cuz it has a "longer" battery life and I got it pretty cheap brand new (16gb for $300)...I will try ComicRack tho

dude, i'd still take the samung galaxy tab 2. it has two cameras, IR blaster and will probably receive updates faster than any Iconia tab.

you can read horizontally as well. ComicRack is great.

Ya I agree about the Samsung joint over the Acer or the new Google tab...he should compare the battery life as well...$50 extra for a tab that will stay on twice as long alone is worth...Acer tabs seem to have less than stellar battery lives generally speaking...

I will never read comics on a tab horizontally...that's damn near blasphemous

I was thinking about the Google tab, but just copped the Samsung over the weekend. Shit is definitely nice. I just can't do the no SD card fuckery. Plus I like the other camera. The battery life is great too.

Are you talking about the Samsung? There's a microSD slot on the left side

Here's a nice case I got for it too...I was worried that it looked cheap...but it's actually really sharp looking and sturdy

No, I was saying I couldn't do the Google because of it not having the SD. I also like the IR remote feature on the tab. Shit works with everything and from room to room.

My bad for the misunderstanding...yaaaa I forgot about the IR remote  I only have one tv which I don't even use unless football on so I hardly use that feature...I just tried it once to see if it work...it was pretty cool to be able to be on the net and use the shit as a remote @ the same time

just received my transformer infinity. this thing is tight. the screen is fucking beautiful. definitely an improvement over my xoom. i went ahead and copped the keyboard too. i never thought i would enjoy one. it makes things a lot better and gives it that laptop feel. it has button for every option, so you barely have to touch the screen.

best thing i like, is the storage space. the tablet itself can take a micro sd. while the keyboard can take a usb thumb drive (i haven't tested out portable drives yet) and a SD Card.

also, its very light. even with the keyboard attached, its still lighter than my xoom.
i will check the other features over the weekend.
if you are in the market for a tablet, i highly recommend this.

Waiting for the iPad mini which seems to be more than just a rumor :o I'm addicted to tablets

at this point, whats the specific appeal of an ipad?

other than the bigger app store and coolfactor?

Have you used an iPad extensively? Most ppl who don't get the appeal haven't...I have 3 tablets and still use the iPad more than the other two (ICS)...the other two have specific uses but the iPad is the one I prefer to generally use...no one can make you "understand" the specific appeal unless you've used one extensively then of course you'd be able to relate...ICS and iOS have minor differences that translate into a different experience for the user...and it's impossible to not include the bigger app store...that's a huge factor that can not be ignored

we have 1 for testing. wouldnt say i use it extensively.

so theres no specific things?

It would be more productive to use it and see for yourself rather than tryna rehash the same tired statement :dunno:

Which browser are uou using?

That's a good question...I'd like to know too...I tried using Dolphin but I had an issue on both the Samsung and the Acer where I had difficulty opening a new tab in the background...sometimes I'd have to click the option multiple times for the same link before a new tab actually opened...and the stock browser crashes far too much

As with everything else, it seems to be a matter of individual preference. I see owners of multiple tablets saying what you are saying, but I also see owners who say the opposite(especially where the Transformers are concerned). It's simply an individual thing. What floats one person's boat, may not float another person's boat. That's why people have to get out there and test the tablets out for themselves.

Oh no of course...I agree...it's like asking what's better? Pizza Hut or Papa Johns? I could waste time listing reasons for which one I prefer and why but it won't matter until the person eats @ both places for themselves...but na I wasn't definitively saying iOS is better...just my preference after using ICS and iOS after a few months

but nah if u said yo pizza hut has better crust, fresher cheese and costs $5 less... at least i know what things to look for next time i try either pizza.

thats all i was saying. with the new tabs i dont see as much of a clear winner like i used to with the ipad.

difficulty opening a tab in the background? i never had that issued. Dolphin has been great for me, especially since the last update. when i use to open Slams thread with a large amount a pics, scrolling thru them was laggy and rendering would be an issue. now, i scroll thru them with no issues, no having to wait for them to load either. its the only browser that doesnt give me that issue.
