Been sitting in this hospital for two days and just found out I might have kidney failure. I'm scared beyond means praying that the results. I'm only 29 and in good health minus the hereditary high blood pressure passed on by family. I'm just sitting on this bed wondering what I could have possibly done wrong? I work out on a consistent basis eat extremely healthy and drink of water. I know its odd to be expressing myself on here but I'm trying to keep a strong front on for my peoples and remain in good spirit. Sorry for venting but I'm shedding tears and afraid. I have to stay another night for more tests tomorrow

YOU AINT DO NOTHING WRONG JUST THE WAY THE SHIT STORM OF LIFE WORKS:smh:

The key is what you do now? Do you have a pity party and lament? or do you start aggressively fighting this thing?

Life is all about 2 things the questions we seek answers to and the actions we take.

Hang in there!

Try to keep a positive mindset. I found out I had cancer (non-hodgkin's lymphoma) when I was 29. I was scared as shit at the time, but I made it through the chemo (hair feel out and everything) and now I've been cancer free for over 5 years. Just try to keep in mind that stressing out about it isn't going to help, although I know that sometimes you can't help it.

You have any kids or a significant other?

Damn, I just got out of the hospital! Fuck, I feel for you, bruh. The word to hone in on is "might". Thinking the worst, makes it worst. Easy for us to say, huh? Once they find out what's what, I'm sure you and the docs will draw out a plan of attack. As for what you may have done wrong, shit, sometimes it's just the luck of the draw.

that sucks. stay strong bro.

u dont have to do anything wrong. thats just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes...

nothing wrong with using bgol to vent. shit, thats what everybody else does.

Thanks yall I'm trying. I just don't like hospitals I watched my brother die in a hospital then watched my father die a year later. When I think hospital I think death.

Well without the hospital it will be death. Think of being in the hospital as an opportunity to get back in great health and great spirits. You'll do fine man. Just keep all faith.

what is you BUN/Creatinine. if you dont know then ask and get back at me

many times the hypertension can cause kidney failure
but kidney failure can cause hypertension on the other hand

you would rather the first reason to be the cause of your kidney failure because with some ace inhibitors and beta blockers you can bring the BP down and your kidneys can be perfused better.

if it is acute renal failure then you have a good chance of shaking back.
chronic is bad news
or are they just giving you lasix?
Have they even mentioned dialysis while you are there?

ask your nurse/doctor for those numbers (BUN/CReatinine, K+ Mg, Phosphorus levels and get back at me). I will break the shit down to lamens terms for you.

also find out what your total CK (Creatine Kinase) is

homework/questions
1. am i in acute or chronic failure?
2. What are my BUN/Creatinine levels now as opposed to my admission levels?
3.What are my kidney electrolyte levels (K+, Mg, Phos)?
4. are you giving me lasix to see if it can kick start my kidneys?
5.Are they thinking about dialysis at this point?
6.what is my highest BP you have measured?
7.What is my fluid balance for the last 2 days (I/O's)?
8.what is my total creatanine Kinase/CK-MB
get the numbers and write them down (dont let the nurse or MD brush you off). let me know if you want

stay strong
you gotta draw int your spirit for this and remain calm and believe that whatever it is you'll be alright.
stop going back and thinking about where you possibly could have messed up, all of that is moot. focus on the now and the getting right and getting out of there and it'll happen. focus on that
and focus on the miami heat

Listen bro! It s more important than ever for you to think positive and keep saying to yourself that you will get better and regain your health. If you are a christian I would also encourage you to read psalm 91, it s the psalm of protection! I will keep you in my prayers. Just stay positive and follow doctors orders and please keep your head up! All the best!

Even though y'all anger me a lot on this board lately, it's reasons like this that keeps me here...the genuine advice and support given.

To the OP keep your head up and stay positive, it's a MUST.
You and your family are in my prayers.

And cats complain about paying 10 bucks to be here.

what percentage kidney function are you currently at? I currently have CKD. I was down to 40% function back in February. But with some aggressive medicating, I am back to 50% now. Doc doesn't expect it to get any higher than 60%, but the key is to make sure it doesn't get any worse. My kidney doc said 15% is dialysis levels and 0% is transplant level. Hang in there fam. Keep your head up.

I'm hoping you're ok too I see you said you just got out the hospital. Take it easy.

And yes even thought I get irritated with some stuff here, it's reason like this that says ignore the dumb stuff and come on back

Can't think like that. Again, easier said than done, but you're in the batter's box now, fam. You'd be amazed at how a fucked up frame of mind can worsen shit. Like I said, I just got out of the hospital over some pancreas issues. When I saw the med team move in on my black ass like a NASCAR pit crew, I started thinking, "Shit, they got this! Hell, they do this!"

Yeah, I'm cool. thanks. Had to make some lifestyle changes though.

Thanks yall I really appreciate it. Brother broke down for a min. I had to watch an episode of Martin to get a laughter in. The episode when Tommy was in the hospital lol

Damn, you can't get away from it, huh? Btw, I've been an athlete all my life, and nothing fucks with you more than being confronted with your own mortality.

I'll try and get that for you....all I remember was the doc saying some levels in my urine was abnormally high at 1.9. Sorry

How was your protein shake, I see you said that you worked out?

How many protein shakes, eggs, meat, chicked etc?

Were you on a high protein diet?

.

hate to crack a job but... i was in the hospital for 9 freaking day and saw no parts of bgol the wifi blocked it and the cell signal sucked :lol::lol::lol:

Ooh, I don't know man. It seems to me that you can't go like that forever. I'm not a nutritionist, but one would think that you'd have to take a break from that regiment from time to time, no?

Hey bruh... keep your head up man. Things seem worse when you're left with more questions then answers but let the doctors do their work and try to be as positive as possible.

A lot of great advice here.... respect to woodchuck and peterpiper

the suggest diet for people going through renal failure says you can have proteins as desired, while avoiding foods rich in potassium

Your kidneys has to filter all of that protein placing stress on it.

Did you determine how much protein you actually needed daily?

Or was it just take protein whenever you could cause you were trying to build muscle?

305, I'm sorry for your health problems. It might be after the fact but request some cranberry juice. And when you get out monitor your diet more carefully.
