BGOL Finance: how much monthly income does it take to live comfortably in your area?

and that comment of 600,000 k ain't doin shit in ny shitttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt...you could do awhole lot with 600.000 a yr in ny
Of course, but its relative. You can ball in NYC like anywhere else if you have the mouthpiece and hustle. But, you're sliding in with other people then. When you live in a city with many billionaires and multi millionaires. $600k ain't much. Remember billionaire mayor Bloomberg? Bitch ass soon to be impeached might've come close to being a billionaire agent orange?

With all the dough in NYC, $600k ain't a ton of money. When you rub shoulders with ceos of international investment banks and/or corporations, athletes and entertainers, ringing the bell at NYSE, you realize you're poor but didn't know it. Hanging with these cats had me sounding like Kevin hart, "You see, I'm not gonna do it. I can't do it two nights in a row. I would, but you see, the way I got my bank account set up, I got a checking and a savings, but all my money is in my savings, so I gotta switch it to my checking, but it's gonna take 3 business days...I don't think it's gonna go through."

LOL @ 600k ain't much. Nigga please. 50k a month is more than enough to be balling in NYC.

Seriously? Have you ever tried to price a quarter of an acre in Smyrna, Cobb County?
I've lived in the hood successfully for 13 years and you've never heard me complain about my house note.

Hilarious.

East Cobb has some of the best schools in Georgia hands down. Walton High School is easily a top 10 school. The elementary/ middle schools are also tops in the state. Pope, Lassister and Wheeler are top flight schools. Schools sell homes and increase property values. 0% crime rate, none of that home invasion nonsense. Swim team in the summer, your kids become incredible swimmers by hitting the water on a daily. 25-30 minutes to the city, can take 75/285/400, all viable options. 15 minutes to new Braves stadium. Some of the best restaurants in Metro Atlanta. 15-20 minutes to Lenox, Perimeter, or Cumberland malls. Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Sprouts all within 5 minutes of each other.

All things considered, easily one of the best places to live in the A. Sorry for you if you buy in the wrong area in ATL. No home value appreciation, terrible schools and crime potential is crazy.

hey i kno millionaires that live frugal.. new balances, 15 dollar pair of khaki's, college t-shirt, driving a car that's under 25,000 or hopping on public transportation or using uber/lift.. there's two sides of the millionaire life.. i kno dudes who are crazy with it and i kno people who are real jewish when it comes to bread.. i learned from the jew side how to move around.. as far as the spend happy nigs being that i deal with pussy all that goes out the window and being the guy that deals with pussy makes u everybody friend and gives u a free ride in their lifestyle, everything paid for, slide in for free, move in their circles..gotta find other sources of currency in their circles pussy is 1 of them..vice sellers are loved in their community..pussy and drugs.. i got a few of them that hit me up on a reg

The funny thing about NYC is there a ton of MILLIONAIRES (net worth over a million dollars) that don't have a clue of what their homes are worth. Sad part is a lot of them are just gonna get beat out of the true value of their property.

Need to discuss what comfortably means for the purposes of this convo (may have... I gotta read the thread).... also, is this comfortable with a mortgage, or comfortable renting (real big/nice place, or decent/economical, etc?). Home ownership just sucks money out of your pockets. Shit, I'm a good saver, but owning makes that shit hard, so as an owner, the money I make is nowhere near comfortable, but if I was renting a "decent/normal apartment" (well maintained, decent area, but nothing great or new) which in my area is probably $1,400 for a one bedroom, I'd have a lot more mad money and I'd be putting money away in savings, investments, etc whereas right now, when I save some, it goes away (property taxes, repairs, etc) and if it doesn't go away, it's in savings just waiting for major appliances or furnace/AC/Water heater replacement time.

I live in California, recently moved from Oakland to Burbank

It's fuckin expensive... I make good money but damn life here is expensive.

I had to kinda rush and rent a place here, I had corporate housing for 30ndays and that wasn't enough time to buy a home.

I have a 3 bdrm 3 bath condo and pay 3200 for just 1400 Sq ft.

What does it take live well where you are?

I'm struggling to pay her bills too! Cheese it's be expensive!

That's only if you are single with no kids and no debt and live in the hood.

Nah...how much 80K bring home after taxes? 5K a month? You can get a decent spot by the lake for 2500/m That leaves 2500 for bills, food, transportation and condoms. It is doable.

I don't know bout that... the last house I out up in the west got into a bidding war! A fuckin bidding war for a rental!

Ended up at $5400 a month 4bdrm 3 bath 2450sqft...

I asked 4750 lol....

Hes an attorney.

And youre right a lot of times thats not normal to most which is why i end up keeping to myself and mines if nobody around you is doing it. I have one associate to do like how i do but they travel too much for me i gotta do some work around here.

But 50k a month not living in nyc or SF

Multiple residences or a one ridiculously nice one
Nice vehicles paid off 3+
Kids tuition paid plus pay for their apartments/expenses
Basically you can do whatever you want and still save more then you spend

Now that think about it i dont see how u cant do none of that in new york with the exception of big home

you can do all that in nyc period with that type of bread.. hell i juss said for 50 g's or less in a yr u could build the ultimate chill spot/mancave where you host a shitload of events..u can top it off by actually charging to rent it out or u can keep it private amongst yourself and whoever u invite..fuck sports bar, lounges, stripclubs, casino's, clubs, community rooms, rental spots, bars, afterwork establishments, afterhour spots, hotels, u can built that all in 1 and instead of goin to the club u can bring that shit to you...that's the ultimate fun and doing whatever the fuck you want..u create that and u are ahead of the curve completely..hell u can do a lot of networking and expand ur brand with something like that

how is the community feel?

If money is so tight, why aren't you here?

I would stay in Glendale for about $2600 until you are ready to make a home purchase.

Yeah, you need six figures to be comfortable if you just moved here or if have a spouse or partner that can help pay. then its 60k each, and a little bit more with kids. It's doable but you would have to budget. No careless spending.
Baby boomers have it easy since they bought their houses at a reasonable price. Millennials and newcomers will have to live with 1 or 2 ppl to pay rent. Lots of multi families here too.
But if you've been here 15+ or more and you own, life is good.

I make 6 figures. I just expected to get more for my money here.

I honestly lived a better life in the bay. But as I said I was rushed in my rental decision.

I'm surrounded by CACs there's literally 1 other black person in the area.

I wish I had made a better decision

Gotta recognize. Are we talking white people or black people comfortable? I'm thinking of Wall Street. I'm thinking of $10k/month apartments for 1-2 bedrooms. I'm thinking of broadway and sports season tix on the floor of the garden and/or Barclays. Of vacationing in the Hamptons, vineyard, or nj shore. Thinking of going to Europe or Asia twice annually. Super bowl and NCAA, fight weekends, etc.

I'm not there but I know these people. One of my partners was trying to get me to join a jet sharing program. $5000 per hour. I don't fly that often (maybe 4-6 times per year) but I dont need a private jet. He makes at least $2M (I've seen his taxes).

So $600k really isn't doing that much in NYC.
Thats not black or white . Thats differences in social"class" on both sides of the fence

600 k .....

In nyc a year ..........

Mayne you Ballin with two foreign cars..

A maid and a pure bred dog....

Eating Kobe steaks with truffle sauce....

If you married with children then you may want to go a little easy on the truffle sauce...

Kay, I've heard got things about that area but I don't have first hand experience. Atl is funny bro, the housing options are extremely plentiful but you've got to be careful. Developers are slick, they'll get max valuations on new houses and those homes end up depreciating instead of going up in value.
