Best Buy has the Toshiba – 50″ Class – LED 4K – with Chromecast $299.99

This is out of date info please stop. Plenty of TVs have native 120 rates

Unless the actual source file is 120fps, you are still just duplicating or making artificial "mixed frames". The only way that 120Hz will make a real difference is if the video you are watching was filmed at 120fps and the device playing back the video to the TV also supports 120fps.

There is VERY little content that is 120fps, the upcoming Avatar squeals and Andy Serkis adaptation of George Orwell's Animal Farm. Other than that, a small amount of youtube. Also almost no devices (no PS4, XBox 1, Roku, Fire TV, or Shield, all are 60fps) or satellite/cable providers.

What good is having tech if you cannot actually get the full benefit from it and wont for many many years? So no, it is not outdated info.

i went over my best friend's house a couple of weeks ago. i don't see him often anymore because we live in different states. i didn't even tell him how terrible his new 65" samsung looked with the soap opera effect on.

he already thinks i am a home theater/theater snob.

I can' t stand the soap opera effect :puke:

Just take the L and move on. The claim was 120hz tvs are not real and it is flat out wrong. It makes the soap opera effect better for those that like that sort of thing and its great for those of us with gaming PC's connected. I've also read its better for 24p content but whatever.
