Kobe chose the wrong sport, in my opinion.
To me, Kobe is like a man who loves variety, trying to be committed to one woman. It goes against his nature, and he can't do it efficiently, because ..... it's not in his nature.
Anyone whose really studied Kobe Bryant knows that, he's at his absolute best when he's extremely focused on scoring. When he can forget everyone around him, that dude has the capacity to make Wilt break a sweat in his grave, for fear of his scoring records being broken.
Unfortunately, that is not what the game is about, but it's CLEARLY what fascinated Kobe the most about the game. I think Kobe wants to win because it's necessary to get the credit he deserves. However, I truly believe that Kobe became obsessed with surpassing Michael Jordan, but underestimated how daunting a task that would actually be. He also looked more at Jordan the scorer, and not Jordan the all-around player. If there is one area where Kobe has damn near mimicked Jordan, it is in the area of scoring.
In my opinion, not even Michael Jordan can fill 'em up as rapidly as Kobe. Jordan was more of a consistent scorer that would give you big numbers by the end of the game. Kobe can literally destroy teams, single-handedly, with his scoring ability(e.g. In the 62 points in 33 minutes game, Dallas had 61 points to KOBE'S 62.) The unfortunate reality is, the team that is often destroyed by his shooting is the Lakers. I am a Kobe fan, but even I can see the deficiency in Kobe's game. Lebron is a natural leader, and simply more efficient.
Kobe's friends from Italy even stated that Kobe watched Michael Jordan's "Come Fly With Me" until the tape popped, and he had to be Jordan when they were on the court. Now he's being asked to be something else(A floor general), and he simply can't do that well enough to compare to the likes of a James, Magic, or Jordan.
Kobe Bryant will likely never shoot a high percentage, because he doesn't even make an attempt to shoot high percentage shots. He NEVER did. Granted, as a rookie and second year player, he took a lot of RIDICULOUS shots, but even at 30, it's as if he's still trying to wow HIMSELF with ridiculously tough fall-away jumpers that only go in consistently when he's flaming hot.
The reality is, Kobe knows that he won't be given the credit he deserves without winning championship rings, so he's trying his hardest to be the floor general that leads his teams to the promised land. It is not impossible for Kobe to win another ring, but even if he were to three-peat, you could never call Kobe a great team player. He's just not built that way.
Kobe is a great scorer, who has the ability to do the absurd when he's hot, but often does the grotesque when he's not.
