I did an IndieGoGo campaign for my upcoming film, shot a concept trailer and all. Had a goal of $10k even though it would cost much more to do the film the way I planned, Only managed to raise about $3k. Got one potential investor willing to give $10k towards production, and a meeting with another next week to see how much I can get. Honestly to get this film done the way I have planned, it'll cost me around $50k-60k. Choreography has to be paid for, I want to pay the actors, providing food on set for long shoot days. Locations alone would cost me about $10k-15k, I've got quoted around $30k for 3 weeks of filming from a production company an acquaintance of mine owns but I'll likely end up doing production myself and hiring for the positions I need within the people I know. I have a RED cam along with a Sony A7s3, aputure lights, good mics, and more. Planning on filming this summer but I'm going to see how much more I can raise in between now and May before preparing for pre-production. I'm also looking to get 2 named talents to be apart of the film, but that also depends on how much I can accumulate.

The film is an urban teen drama about a teen living in a single parent immigrant household, dealing with the struggles of high school; gang violence, drugs, and poverty, with her only outlet to exhale being dance.

I should have known that man would take the very first opportunity to continue to write that sh*t himself.

He fails to understand that he could create a writers enclave that he would not only finance...

But nurture advise and cultivate

he could do what music does with in house producers or the old studios did with in house writing teams.

He could create a bad ass crew of fresh talent of color young and old and expand into different genres.

I'm not a fan of his work

But greatly admire his work ethic

I'm disappointed he chose to go down this path.

I said this shit yesterday. I just heard a new Tupac song with Nate Dogg and both have been dead for well over a decade. We're going to get to a point in our lifetime where there's a TV show on and none of the characters are human, and none of the characters are even voiced by a human. It's already possible

Movies that don't need to be written by people. Where it takes weeks or even months to write a book AI can write the same book in 20 minutes. White people and Asian people are behind something that will put 100 to 300 million people out of work

Tyler Perry has been the king of lowbrow, low imagination, shitty simplistic plot movies and TV shows. I haven't been a fan of almost anything he's done since Diary of a matte black woman (thanks talk to text. I'm not fixing it) and Madea's family reunion

Up to this point, if you've seen five Tyler Perry movies you've damned near seen everything in that man's Arsenal

I'm not a fan. Not hating on him because he's not in my way, but not a fan of what he does. Everything he does has an underlying level of coonery that I can't fuck with. It depicts black people at it's very simplest core and we are not monolithic by any means

Stop it. No negativity accepted.

Idea... @raze

Has anyone ever submitted like an audio version of a script (spec)? With sound effects etc almost like a radio show?

Or an animated version?

How do think an agent would respond to that?

Regardless of the format, the majority of agents don't look at unsolicited scripts. That being said, writers have tried all of the above and more. There's the famous story about the first American Pie script that was originally titled, “Untitled Teenage Sex Comedy That Can Be Made For Under $10 Million Which Studio Readers Will Likely Hate But I Think You Will Love." Generally, the results aren't any better than those of writers who only include loglines in the query letters. It's all a shot in the dark.

Sometimes it works in reverse. A popular podcast can get you a movie or TV deal. The Zola movie was based on some viral tweets. 30 Days of Night was originally a screenplay, but the writers couldn't get any traction, so they turned it into a graphic novel. All of this requires a lot of time, money, and a ridiculous amount of luck.

Recently, a few folks have been playing around with artificial intelligence to make concept trailers like this:

When OpenAI makes Sora available to the public, we're going to see more stuff like this:

Which is going to make it even harder to get noticed because everyone will be doing it. :smh:

Everything you just said!!!

Sora will change the game. Really hoping originality in concept and tone keeps things moving for people like us.

Usually, when filmmakers are promoting their projects, Marvel is the go-to whipping boy. Gotta give Villeneuve points for being different.

Nothing to see here...

“Frankly, I hate dialogue,” the filmmaker told the publication. “Dialogue is for theatre and television. I don’t remember movies because of a good line, I remember movies because of a strong image. I’m not interested in dialogue at all. Pure image and sound, that is the power of cinema, but it is something not obvious when you watch movies today. Movies have been corrupted by television.”

*what you think?

Who hasn't quoted a line from their favorite movie or TV show? I can say, "I'll be back," "Yippee-Ki-Yay," "Now you're in the sunken place," or "Hey, auntie," and you instantly get the reference. Maybe in his artsy circles, but most people aren't sitting around debating strong images.

There's a discussion to be had on excessive dialogue in film/TV, but this man said he isn't interested in dialogue at all. Hates it. I think Denis Villeneuve is full of pretentious bullshit.

"I'm your huckleberry,"
"Leave the gun, take the canolli."
"I could've been a contender!"
"If you build it, they will come."

From romance movies to comedies, people quote their favorite lines all the time. There's probably not a day that goes by I don't quote Superbad.

I really miss the days when entertainers didn't feel the need to share every cough sneeze burp.and farther with the world.

So he NEVER filmed a bad scene?

Ever?

As long as he thoughtbit was good? That was enough?

And how DARE they ask him to honor the contract he willingly signed?

Slave mongers.

Fam, most shit I know about celebrities is completely against my will. I appreciate the Denzel's of the world who don't tell us shit.
