Ideally, but it’s a federal thing and I’m sure states are going to have to approve of it. Plus all those landowners are going to be assholes about it.

I definitely don’t think it’s as simple as building a highway or oil pipeline. I don’t really know though.
Listen, if they can have an oil pipelines all over the U.S. they can certainly have a water pipeline saving a state from disaster. Video said over 90% of the state is under extreme drought.
Ain't this place called the UNITED States?

That’s the easiest choice but nobody wants to spend the money it looks like they might not have a choice right now.
Too many politicians cannot see past tomorrow.
In 100 years well all be gone but others will be here. Think about THEM.
They sooner they start the sooner they'll have relief.

South-to-North Water Diversion Project

The South-to-North Water Diversion Project in China is the largest of its kind ever undertaken. The project involves drawing water from southern rivers and supplying it to the dry north.

This massive scheme has already taken 50 years from conception to commencement and is expected to take almost as long to construct.

Planned for completion in 2050, it will eventually divert 44.8 billion cubic metres of water annually to the population centres of the drier north.

When finished, the work will link China’s four main rivers – the Yangtze, Yellow River, Huaihe and Haihe – and requires the construction of three diversion routes, stretching south-to-north across the eastern, central and western parts of the country.

The complete project is expected to cost $62bn – more than twice as much as the country’s controversial Three Gorges Dam.

South-to-north water diversion project background
Northern China has long been a centre of population, industry and agriculture and with all three growing apace, the per capita share of the region’s limited water resources has inevitably kept falling.

Historically this has led to the over-exploitation of groundwater – often supplying urban and industrial development at the expense of agriculture – leading to severe water shortages in rural areas. In addition, land subsidence and the region’s frequent sandstorms have also been linked to the excessive use of groundwater.

It’s currently 98 degrees in Las Vegas where I’m at.

Humidity is at 5% right now.

We are expected to hit 110 to today and max out at 115 by Wednesday. Not expected to get back to low 100s until Monday.

The surrounding states are having severe heat waves right now.

National Weather Service has issued a heat warning for the week.

Cooling Stations are opening up around the Las Vegas valley.

Lake Powell Pipeline hits ‘an important milestone’ with roll out of environmental study

ST. GEORGE — The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation released a draft environmental impact statement for the Lake Powell Pipeline project Monday and encourages the public to submit comments on the study between now and early September.

State and local water officials are pleased with the results of the draft environmental impact statement, more commonly referred to as an EIS, while opponents of the project carry a different view.

“(This) is an important milestone because we can get a permit,” said Brock Belnap, an associate general manager at the Washington County Water Conservancy District overseeing the Lake Powell Pipeline project. “The law requires the federal government to study all the various impacts on the environment the project might affect.”
Based on those environmental impacts, the federal government must establish whether a proposed project is warranted

Definition of Drought
Drought is a complex phenomenon that is difficult to monitor and define. Hurricanes, for example, have a definite beginning and end and can easily be seen as they develop and move. Drought, on the other hand, is the absence of water. It is a creeping phenomenon that slowly sneaks up and impacts many sectors of the economy, and operates on many different time scales.

As a result, the climatological community has defined four types of drought:
1) meteorological drought
2) hydrological drought
3) agricultural drought
4) socioeconomic drought.

Meteorological drought happens when dry weather patterns dominate an area.

Hydrological drought occurs when a low water supply becomes evident, especially in streams, reservoirs, and groundwater levels, usually after many months of meteorological drought.

Agricultural drought happens when crops become affected.

And socioeconomic drought relates the supply and demand of various commodities to drought. Meteorological drought can begin and end rapidly, while hydrological drought takes much longer to develop and then recover. Many different indices have been developed over the decades to measure drought in these various sectors. The U.S. Drought Monitor depicts drought integrated across all time scales and differentiates between agricultural and hydrological impacts.

You forgot one.
