A counselor who could have picked up the phone and had the parents explain the stupidity. No matter how dumb the father is you have no reason to stick your hand in another persons mouth. I dont like grills and a kid wearing them is stupid, but as long as it isnt vulgar or against a written rule you should be allowed to wear what you want to school. And when it is inappropriate you call the parent to fix what ever the kid is wearing or have the parent take them home. Unless theyre a danger to themselves, the faculty, or another student. You keep your hands off them. Thats basic.

The counselor didn't pull the teeth out because it was endangering the kid. She pulled them out because she didn't like them..

The fronts were bonded to the kids teeth, which is why the counselor couldn't just take them out. The kid said she twisted one of his teeth. The woman should have been smart enough to see that while she was trying to pull them out that the kid was in pain.

The counselor was totally in the wrong by doing that.

I'd have a problem if some school employee tried to cut out a students breast implants. How would a childs gold teeth effect his peers? Do you expect something so trivial to create an ongoing distraction. If you believe that to be the case then by all means send a note home to the parents but do not physically try to remove the item against his will.


Why do you presume you know anything about this child's intellectual health? Do you think the actions of the school did anything to help this child's intellectual health because as far as I can tell it hurt him physically.

What type am I if I may ask? I guess I've always considered myself somewhat of a civil libertarian. If a parents judgment is not overtly harming the child then I do not feel the need to substitute my judgment for his.

If the gold teeth were snap on and snap off I would consider them to be the same thing as jewelry or vampire teeth but they are not. As far as I can tell the golds are affixed to the teeth in a manner that essentially makes them permanent unless a professional removes them. The kid wont be passing his grill around the classroom is the point.

Would that justify a counselor trying to rip the breast implants out? If a counselor has a problem with what a doctor put in OR on a child that doesn't give her the right to take it upon herself to attempt to perform an operation in a school office. If she didn't know if they were removable she should have asked. If she was that offended by the things it would have made more sense to send the kid home until they grill was removed and take her chances with her opinion being upheld.
