5th-grader's gold grill yanked out by guidance counselor

Now that I am older ... i would have luved my mom to have tossed me some light -light ....shit the first thing i did after leaving the a.m ceromony ...was hop in the car, blaze up...went to my lil chick momma house for some breakfast

Nigga, who gives a fuck? This ain't about you, motherfucker. :smh:

Ignorant as hell to get a fifth grader someone who's teeth have potentially all not come out yet a grill.. Something so permanent... Reaching your hand into a child's mouth is inexcusable number one, but on top of that going to yank or pull is just completely overkill... I'm wondering how this went down, he didn't ask him to take it out?? I'm sure if he did ask him to take it out the child told him it couldn't be taken out, to go and try to do it anyway is just gross negligence... Someone, or a couple of people from that school have to pay for this....

Monday... I turn on MTV, a father and mother buys their 16 year old CHILD a BMW 745 just for turning 16 and thats AFTER they throw that same child a $500,000 party.

Tuesday.... i turn on MTV, a father buys his 16 year old daughter a S550 just for being 16 and spoiled...

This is aired atleast twice everyday for two weeks, and the cycle of giving high priced automobiles to 16 year olds on their birthday continues and is dismissed, not even talked about...atleast on this forum.

Hmmm.... A real life "everyday joe" father buys his child a $500 "grill" FOR good grades, not just for being a certain age. An this is unacceptable even though the child was obviously violated???

Teachers are NOT supposed to touch you PERIOD. If the teacher asked him to take out the grill and he refused or the teacher thought he was bullshitting, you to take him to the principle and call his parent(s). You don't reach in his mouth. An giving a grill is personal preference. Maybe he should have rewarded his son with a 760i that hes not old enough to drive and had it aired on t.v. to be more acceptable since we're not talking about those kids just the same. I wonder why?

Yall missing the point. How you going to teach somebody respect by disrescpecting them. Call the parents, ask if they approved it. If they did tell them that its not allowed and they will have to pick up their child from the principles office. Why the fuck would you think it would be ok to put your hands in childs mouth. $500 bills and fucking with my child. I would have sent baby mama to handle that bitch

Yeah yeah, the guidance counselor shouldn't have gone at his teeth. But I'm sure lil youngin was poppin off at the mouth, around his friends givin the guidance counselor a crazy amount of what for in the cafeteria- it was a definite distraction to "his education learning". It was even a distraction for the guidance counselor who was supposed to have had a more appropriate reaction.

There is no right or wrong side to this scenario. It is what it is.

Now that I think about it that couselor was mos def in the wrong for this shit. A adult under no circumstances should be putting their hands in a childs mouth thats not theirs. His parents should be proud as well, they are well on their way to achieve their goal of making this child completely feral. :smh:

In the 5th fucking grade???????

Does anyone even know what kind of grill you are talking about.

I only know one cat with a grill, gold across the front, top and bottom, and he can remove that shit by just popping them off. What's all this talk about permanent shit. Are ya'll suggesting that the counselor ripped the boys teeth out at the roots?

No rule against wearing a grill specifically but there is a rule regarding ornaments of fashion being distractions in school.

I mentioned the poppin off at the mouth to put the situation in perspective. Not only in this situation, but in practically all situations - the reality is that 99& of the people judging the situation (including me) simply weren't there. Not being there limits the ability to properly discern who was 100% right an 100% wrong, if that's even possible. I'm proclaiming poppin off at the mouth to be a potential instigating factor. The way I see it poppin off at the mouth to an authority figure is absolutely wrong and should be dealt with strictly and immediately.

The prerequisite for the authority to hold such power is for the authority to be able to appropriately handle situations. 'Appropriate' is and always was relative.

I don't know much about grills, but I'm thinking if they had been temporary, aint shit wrong with the counselor yanking them out of ol' boys mouth. To be honest, I would've called little youngin's bluff too... all while thinking to myself, "what dentist would put some gold fronts in a child's mouth, they must be temporary/yankable..."

Well, since the "poppin off at the mouth" is only something you imagine might have happened, and would not matter even if it did, that should not be part of the issue. What can be proven is that the guidance counselor attempted to yank bonded teeth out of a child's mouth. Since there is no rule against wearing a grill, there WAS a wrong and right side of this scenario. Kid was right, and within his rights, the counselor was wrong.

Last time I checked schools were filled with nonsensical shit that had nothing to do with neither discipline nor learning.

Last time I checked teachers and parents were not in accord with each other. Something that is vital for a child's development. A child can't have contradictions between parent's and teachers... ESPECIALLY with these wack parent's AND wack teachers.

The parent was wack for putting the gold in the child's mouth to begin with. The teacher was simply wack for not knowing a dentist had to remove that shit. The lil dude should've just stayed in the office for the rest of the day and not be allowed back until that shit was removed.

Why the fuck are parent's teachers at war over this bullshit. Keep the fucking grills out these children's mouths, and send them to school with some serious intent.

I'm in education and the counselor was dead wrong. Another thing, counselors are not necessarily educators/teachers. She should've been trained/know already that some things you just can't control in school. It was in bad taste for that kid's parents to get him gold fronts to begin with, but they're going to have to deal with that for the rest of their lives. The kid was/is spoiled point blank, but now he's PAID and that's worse.

No one has. But for some reason certain people in this thread seem to have an aversion to taking the parents to task as well. After all if you're gonna call bullshit, you should call all of it.

That's the point, my dude. People are getting upset with what the kid got as a reward, What is getting lost is that the kid was rewarded for getting good grades.

Say you gave your 11 year old kid one of those motorized scooters, and he's just riding it around the block. He not disturbing anyone or riding reckless, he's just minding his business. someone came along and said, "I don't think you should have that", and took it from him, wouldn't you be pissed? Especially if he took it from him in a way that could have potentially hurt your kid.

It's the same process at getting porcelain crowns for your teeth..only they use gold.

There are gold (or platinum) fronts that are permanent. Baby from Cash Money has a very expensive set. What they do is thay take two molds of your teeth to make sure they fit properly. That is what actually makes them expensive. After they take the mold, they send them out and have them made. Sometimes they have to file your teeth down to make a proper mold. If he files your teeth down, he will give you temporary caps.

After about two weeks the fronts come in and the dentist will bond them to your teeth. It takes a LOT to pull them off.

Here's the problem with giving large gifts for good grades. I'm not really sure what that even means in this case, but I remember when I was a kid, there was a monetary value to me getting good grades. $5 for a B, $10 for an A was what I got for bringing home a good report card. With that money, I could go buy a video game or sneakers. So what I was being taught was 1) Hard work pays off 2) How to manage my money.

What is this kid learning? One thing I learned while working with kids is, it doesn't take much to make them happy. Gold fronts for getting good grades? You can't even compare that to a kid getting a car for graduating high school, because it's the fifth freakin' grade, getting a car when you graduate is practical. The kid hasn't accomplished anything in the great scheme of things. What's he going to get for graduating the 8th grade? It's too much and he's going to expect something bigger.

Priorities are too screwed up. :smh:

it's so sad this simple point has needed to be made so many times to a group of people i thought were intelligent.

Thank you. Sometimes the dumbass posts on BGOL are so stupid that I wonder if I'm losing intelligence. It makes me feel good to know there are smart observers from time to time.

I would find out where that bitch live...buy a ninja suit...watch her for 2 weeks to get her schedule down. Wait till she come home and jump out a tree and kick her repeatedly in the tits. Then push her on the ground and grind my foot up the crack of her ass. After that grab her hair and pull on that shit askin if it was real.

Then dissapear into the blackness of night.

This is too funny!!! :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

It takes a LOT to pull them off.

Not necessarily true. Anyone interested in facts, just google "removable grills".

Like I Said....my homeboy's teeth did not need filing and he pulls that shit out whenever he is going somewhere where he believes they are not appropriate. You just pull the shit out. Simple.

Administrators investigate guidance counselor's decision to pull out student's grill

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- School administrators are investigating an incident between an elementary school student and a guidance counselor who felt inclined to remove the child's grill.

Vincent Holloman attends fifth grade at Charles Drew Elementary School. Holloman's father says he rewarded his son for his studious qualities by buying him gold grills. "So I said, 'I am going to get you some gold teeth,'" said Kevin Stokes, the boy's father.

School officials were not so happy with the $500 gold crowns that decorated Holloman's bottom teeth. A guidance counselor at school confronted the student and demanded to know if the grills on his teeth were real. "She got a napkin and put it in my mouth and was yanking, yanking and turning it and turned my teeth," explained Holloman.

After the incident, Holloman reported to Broward General Medical Center to seek treatment for his aching gums. "You can't just yank them out, you need to go to a dentist to have them removed out," said the boy's father.

According to the Broward County Schools' Code of Conduct, they do not ban decorative dental work, but, according to a school spokesman, the principal has the discretion to do so if clothing, jewelry or any other item is a distraction to the school's environment.

Make sure you peep the video on their site.

If any administrator was to touch my son at school period, they better be wearing a bullet proof vest.
I buy my son, nieces and nephew's video games, or take them to the movies or give them 10, or 20 dollars for good grades. Damn, shortys pop buying him $500.00 gold grills. However, what gave the guidance counselor the right to violate that young man like that. Especially the way it was affixed to his person??????

Who thinks that this is okay??? I thought there was a thread about that before and people were just as disgusted. Maybe it was a different forum.... But that is why that bullshit isnt watched in my home and when I did catch it I talked about it just as bad.

Real Talk right there..I think that this is one time folks should agree to disagree. The strange thing is everyone basically saying the same thing. Is there anyone here who wouldnt be upset w/ the counselor? Is there anyone here who would by a grill for their 10year old??

If he wanted to spend $500 to reward his kids "studious" behavior, why didnt he just buy the lil bastard a XBOX or PS3.
Parenting skills course 101 not taken by this father apparently, I metioned the same damn thing. What would have been wrong for the boy to receive a age appropriate gift the other 5th graders get for good grades, or good behavior

Locs and gold fronts are incomparable. I hope you don't have locs in your hair. No bullshit. I'd hate for you to carry them as if they were gold fronts.

The fronts are a distraction because other students will be more concerned with why they don't have fronts, other students will be asking their parents for fronts, dude with the fronts will be flossing among friends... all while in SCHOOL. It's ridiculous you don't understand how that is a distraction from education.

These weren't meant to be removed. That's why they were bonded to his teeth. Read right here:

Gold teeth come in two forms: gold dental crowns and removable gold teeth. A dentist fits the gold dental crowns, and the main reason he uses gold is because it is a very workable metal that makes a perfect crown fit.

..and here:

The kid's fronts sounded like they were bonded, which is why the tooth was twisted when the crowns on top was pulled out.

Thanks for pointing out those pertinent facts. I now have enough information to make my decision. That counselor done fucked up.

As stated many times before...the guidance counselor was dead wrong for putting her hands on a child. And a fifth grader wearing $500 fronts :smh:
