50 Cent and Steve Stoute confrontation at MSG

From a music stand point yeah people will talk like 50 use too however 50 spoke on niggas whole lives, money and all types of other shit.. What saves 50 is how he flipped that 1 mill signing bonus into over 100 mill...

So yeah people gonna take about 50 being irrelevant music wise and then they will stop right there lmaoo

Notice stout did the same thing... He know 50 loot is official that's not a question....

But in the totality of things 50 is very much relevant and still a house hold name...

I say he need to get back on that mixtape grind.. Haven't ward one wack mixtape from dude...

Jayz lyrically is not relevant how can he been he can't be takin bout gun slinging and selling rocks now lmaooo you can even hear in his delivery he aint the same no more..

Honestly hip hop is a young man's game now.. It's the only genre of music where you have to get a successful run long enough to flip it into something else and let your catalogue speak for you 20 yrs from now where u can still do concerts

Like the big daddy Kane's, rakim, wu tang etc

Fif is done. He's just out of touch with music. HIs sound isn't marketable anymore. Which is cool. That's how it is for most artists. I'd put Ludacris in there. Ice Cube in there. Will Smith in there. Master P. You just out of touch with music and can't contribute into a industry where a certain sound is what's popular.

Fif had a good run. To me that's what makes guys like Nas and Jay so great. 15+ years in the game and are still relevant music-wise. But its not easy.

Ayyy you could be right. Maybe my logic is flawed.

Off the top....
French Montana - 200,000
Big Krit - 100k
Wiz 500k
2 Chainz 200k
Currensy - 90k
Kid Cudi - 260k
Future - 300k
ASAP Rocky - 360k
Big Sean - 135k
J. Cole - 600k
Kendrick 1.1 mill
Aubrey - 1.4 million
Juicy J -160k
Ace Hood - 80k

Any other artists i'm missing out on?

My point is, selling like J. Cole, Kendrick and Macklemore ain't the majority. Those are the exceptions and aren't the standards.
my point is with the buzz ros had at that time the should have sold more specially with his c/s behind them. and im focusing more on their first album on mmg. cole sold 660k 2 times. kid cudi went gold 2 times. 2 chainz went gold and dropped another album that flopped. meek cant even drop a second album. in terms of buzz meek mill had more buzz than all of them. in my opinion.

He got the merchandising deal to distribute headphones with some of the star wars images with his company SMS audio.

Somebody gets it, white people rule black folks because they have US thinking we can only do one thing at a time. When that don't work were finished. 50 is 37 years old he had his musical time in the Sun. He not broke and he still has money coming in from multiple sources. The worse thing you can do is not know when your time has come. Ice Cube puts out albums still but mainly for fun because he likes doing it. He makes his money in films.

But when Ice Cube drops albums they're well received and people/fans are actually waiting for them.

50? Who's really waiting to hear him today...............

This is true.

Maybe in Philly but Meek NEVER had more buzz than Cudi or J. Cole or 2 Chainz. NEVER. Meek ain't never had a hit single to have more buzz then them dudes. His buzz was crazy which is why he sold 400k. Just as much as Future who had far more buzz IMO.

You're picking and choosing what you want to believe.

Fact is, selling 200,000 records is far more realistic than it is to sell 600k like J. Cole or 1 million records. You can have buzz and still only sell 200,000. This isn't 15 years ago. The climate has changed. That's something you fail to come to grips with though for whatever reason. Rozay is one of the biggest artists in the game and has never gone platinum. Jeezy is a GOLD artist now. TI is a gold artist. Nas is a Gold artist. That's where we at. Gold is the new platinum.

everybody gets it but him:lol:

Hip hop changed when the core fans stopped buying music. The internet changed the game. No new artist hip hop artist will ever sell like 50 cent again. The real hip hop fans, the people that created the buzz for 50 cent before he came out the people that influence hip hop culture don't buy albums they buy Ciroc and beats headphones. The future of hip hop is nothing more than a marketing platform for consumer products.

The tours will soon also be a platform to sell higher margin products. If rapppers really wanted to get smart they would stop selling their music or putting it out other than during live performances. This would drive up demand for live shows and they could start selling tickets at the NBA level. People would buy a pay per view if Jay-z unleashed a whole new album during the performance. Other than that rappers better get their spoons and start bojanglin these products lol.

But when Ice Cube drops albums they're well received and people/fans are actually waiting for them.

You making things up,Cube drops an album and the only people buying is his loyal fans who are disappointed every time because it's not the cube from the past.

Cube is an actor music might be his love but movies is how he makes his living.

Dude...i'm not making up a thing up, Cube has always had his loyal fans waiting for an album when he drops one, he may not go Platinum and all of that like he did with all of his other albums when cds sold but he alway's does his thing, and he's still somewhat relevant.

Of course movies is how he makes his living, no shit.:smh:

Like i told yall dudes in that last 8 page post about 50, he rose to the top out of the gate and when that happens there's nowhere to go from there but down.

The only reason 50 is done musically is because Hip Hop fans are fickle and the shelf life of most artists is 3-5 years. It's usually not about the music, Hip Hop fans just move on.

I somewhat agree. But if you listen to Fif's shit......it sounds just like he did when he came out with Get Rich or Die Tryin' except its not as good. You have to constantly re-invent and develop your sound in this industry. Its what Kanye's trying to do now. Wayne had to do it. Outkast had to do it. Jay had to do it. Nas is the only guy who hasn't ever really needed to change his sound much though he's tried.

This is actually the route i would probably take if i was a popular rapper today. Good stuff!

Props to 50 for checking that BITCH ASS NIGGA, STOUTE... :bravo:

...And for you niggas who don't know... 50 and Stoute have a history.

50 was signed to Trackmaster and Stoute used to manage them.

When 50 got shot, Stoute cut him off... Then when 50 got hot and was about to signed with Dre, Stoute tried to get in... :smh:

BUT... 50 said,:thefinger: ... and the rest is history.

Stoute opened his mouth and 50 checked him for it.

NOW... to the 50 critics... I say this... 50 will be 39 this year... What else does he need to do???:dunno:

This

Okay but his artists aren't underwhelming though.

Let me use a football analogy to make my point clearer.

When Cowboys drafted Quincy Carter he wasn't shit. Part of it he didn't have a good team around him. Had a OC that didn't believe in him. Was terrible. Had to be taught throwing motions and was ultimately benched for some great white hypes Drew Henson and Chad Hutchinson......

Bill Parcells comes to town...looks at all the qb's and he determines someone fucked up and that Quincy gave his team the best chance to win. In the year with Parcells he put up 17 touchdowns and 21 int's. Terrible......BUT he got his squad into the post season. So do you say well damn.....his stats sucks because his stats aren't as good as Peyton Manning's or do you say you know what? He took a 5 win team to the playoffs.....

Meek and Wale ain't platinum artists. Going platinum isn't about talent. Its about your marketability. Its about your superstar. Artists like Drake and Nicki.....they're in mainstream movies. Meek Mill will never be in no Anchorman 3 or no shit like that showing off his comedic side or on Saturday Night Live. That's not his lane.

Kool G Rap never went platinum either. It wasn't lack of promotion. He's just not commercial. No matter how many marketing dollars you put into Kool G Rap in his prime he was never gonna go platinum.

And Freeband? You not talking about Future shit are you? Them chicago niggas and Freebands the hottest niggas out but MMG and Rick Ross not relevant?

 Once again bringing up Curtis.....its two different entities man........One is catered to making Redbox and Netflix movies. One is catered in developing music artists. Its two different ventures. You have to see the bigger picture. "Cheeta Vision" isn't about artist development.

I'm referring to his albums. He's never gone platinum.....I don't believe even gold last I checked.

Gucci was not doing what Rick Ross does with his videos. Shit Rawse MMG films done did videos for Gucci and done got Ciroc to pay for them.

And please. Wale shit wasn't "under shipped". That nigga was gonna flop. That's why you "under ship" a album. You don't do it because you think its gonna be a hit. He had no hit singles. He had no direction. Nike Boots was a tough banger but it wasn't poppin'. Wale didn't start poppin' until after the Flocka single. Let's don't kid ourselves here. Now if you want to give him credit for that than fine. But DC radio stations wouldn't even play the nigga music and no one else was either.

And I can't explain Kendrick other than he had the Interscope and Aftermath brand behind him. I can't explain how someone like him made it mainstream like he did. I can't even explain how J. Cole is a gold artist or how Macklemore is platinum. Those are 3 cases I never got and shit never even try to get. That's no hate though. For those 3 acts to do well changed the landscape of the rap game for the better IMO.

I never said Maybach was irrelevant... I said... They were ICE-COLD... meaning... Nobody's popping right now... meaning, nobody has a REAL banger out right now... and that Ross and Puffy and the rest are still trying to squeeze the last little bit of juice out of B.I.G.'s legacy to stay relevant.... AND.... Where's MayBach's version of G-Unit... Triple Cheese at???:dunno:...NOW... That doesn't mean that they're done. Shit... All it takes is ONE song...

BUT... the same rules apply to 50.... All it takes is ONE song... and he's right back where he was.

As far as Future, FREEBAND, Chief Keef ...etc... If you follow this shit like you say you do, then, you know these dudes are ON FIRE right now... whether we like them or not... and if Meek, Wale, Stalley and whomever else don't get on their job, them same dudes are squeeze them out of the game... Fat Trell is smart... He connected with Keef early, which broadens his fan base... To your point about Kendrick... I know how he did it... He got on his grizzly... AND... he's nice... Combine that with a dope song with Dre... And there you have it. J.Cole... I'm not surprised either... and Macklemore... He's a whiteboy... :dunno:

As for your Football analogy... I look at it from a franchise point of view... I compare Ross and the Maybach brand to the Panthers... or the Bengals... good teams... shit... very good teams... but... NO RINGS... and in the music business... platinum albums are RINGS.

Whereas, 50... is your boy, Jerry Jones...
... and while the product on the field may lack... Cowboys stock is going up...
... and Thisis50.com is his Jerry World... aka... Manning Municipal Stadium...

As far as Wale goes... It's simple... HE'S WACK AS FUCK!!!!:lol::lol:

I actually agree with your first part. That second paragraph.......I think that would KILL hip hop/rap than it would help it.

Rap is as bad as rock and roll as far as telling what's being said during live performance. If you don't know the song already, it mostly sounds like crap...you have to do an over the top live performance to make it be good if the person listening doesn't know the words. For example I enjoyed Kendrick at the grammys and I didn't know what the fuck he was saying. Prince was genius when he started going platinum by selling his cds at shows, but Billboard & the industry put a stop to that shit quick.

You tripping. "Freebandz" ain't shit. And neither is Chief Keef. I'm not even talking about talent-level. If you want to know who's got some buzz its Migo's, Que, Young Thug, Scotty ATL to name a few. Future buzz has died down since knocking' up Ciara. Lil' Durk, Lil Herb, Rondanumba9 and Lil' Bibby got some buzz out of the Chi......Keef......he's fell off so hard dudes done count him out. He had to drop a statement talking about he ain't on lean no more so his new album gonna hit he says.

And I don't disagree about your comparison. I never said MMG was the biggest brand in hip hop. I'm saying Rozay got a squad of cast-offs. Dudes from other labels who nobody wanted and turned it into a successful brand. That's all i'm saying. Whether Wale is wack or not is a opinion. He's doing alright for himself in regards to a rap career. Dude is currently working with Jerry Senfield last I heard. Not bad....

Thats like saying "How is Nas the greatest rapper, when he has never won a Grammy?"

Thank you. These dudes holding weight to platinum albums like that means something. That just means you were POPular enough to garner 1 million people to buy that shit. If you let these cats tell it Macklemore is the best thing in hip hop because he's the highest seller and got Grammy's.:smh:

I'm sorry, but it some of these ("my favorite rappers or my favorite REGION my favorite rappers originated from) arguments is a bit ridiculous.

For starters, NOTHING IN LIFE, ever stays the same. The current music biz is a reflection of the technological achievements, economy etc....etc

The general music buying public has the attention span of a 5 year old child. The challenge for musicians today is CONSISTENCY; staying relevant. It does not matters how much cds one sells Most musicians make their music from touring. This is the "ring-tone" and youTube generation (who the fuck buys music anymore?). An artist could spend an entire year working on a cd and only one song could be cherish by the public.

I'm a tri-state area, old school hip-hop head....but, one has to truly appreciate the Rozays, the Drakes, Waynes, Meek and crew.

Those guys are all apart of the same crew (support each other) and run the current music scene. I'm 50 fan as much as the next man, but the truth is he's distracted by other business interest. Music seems secondary to him.

Listen... I'm by no means a fan of most of those dudes... but... It is what it is... you might say Keef fell off and FreeBand is trash... but... The youngins feel differently....:dunno:

Believe me... I tried to listen to Keef and I felt like someone cracked my skull and vomited on my brain... :smh:

Other than that... we're in agreement...
