The best deals from Best Buy's 50th anniversary sale

Best Buy was founded on August 22nd, 1966, and the tech retailer's 50th birthday is coming up this Monday. To celebrate, the company has put together 50 tech deals and discounts for just 50 hours only, starting at 10pm CT/11pm ET tonight and running through 12am CT/1am ET on Sunday, August 20th.

But as always, unearthing Best Buy's best buys isn't so easy. In fact, some of the products on sale will soon be replaced with refreshed models. That said, we still managed to find some great deals:
  • $150 off select MacBook laptops (with an additional $150 for students, totaling $300 in savings)
  • $400 off a 65-inch Samsung 4K LED TV
  • $180 off of Beats Studio wireless on-ear headphones
  • An iPhone 6S for just $1 with a 2-year Sprint or Verizon contract
  • An iPhone 6S Plus for $99 with a 2-year Sprint or Verizon contract
  • $200 off the iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus with the activation of an AT&T Next plan
  • A PlayStation 4 Call of Duty bundle that includes Destiny and two other free games

Lmao at the soap opera effect. Yo that made me stop watching Narco. I thought it was filmed that way. It looked like I was watching a play it looked mad stupid like some amateur shit. I was mad as fuck until I figured out it was a setting.

Yeah, normal LED sets are that cheap. OLED sets aren't. It can do true black and provide better colors than a LED, similar to how Samsung phones tend to look different than say the average Apple phone for instance screen wise. Being fair though, some HDR LED screens are really close in quality now, but they are almost as high in price. They aren't in the $6000 range anymore but still in the low 3s.
A Lot are under 2G's tho

Yep. I saw the one for $6K back in February so that price definitely dropped. But hey if he wants to believe he can get an OLED for around $700 then we have a bridge to Harlem for him to purchase as well.
Who the fuck said you can get OLED's for $700 tho?:hmm: I SAID you can get 4K sets for that NOT OLED 4K's but REGULAR 4k sets I've even seen them for $599

If you bothered to read my posts and who I was responding to instead of just jumping in then you'd see we were talking about the OLED 4K tvs and the prices on them that brought me back to reality after staring at them for over 15 minutes. :hmm:

Just got a 4k tv
One thing why are 4k bluray players so expensive all over $200, with nobody buying disc they should be cheaper $100 , the Xbox one s is the best bargain but I'm reading that player is not the best but good enough better than buying a standalone player that can only play movies for the same price

And even Stevie wonder could see the difference between 1080p and 4k
Is definitely worth the upgrade even for 4k streaming

I gotta get a PS4 pro for 4k gaming and an Xbox one s just for 4k ultra hd movies
Sony :smh:

First thing I did was turn this off on my tv

Time to get rid of my 2008 720p 42" Samsung plasma that weighs 70 lbs. Any recommendations on a good 50" 4K TV for less than $500?

I won a nice 50 inch 4K at my companies Christmas party only way I would get one at the moment, but with the on going thread in the movie section might get me to upgrade my bedroom OLED TV.

Technically there is no such thing. Plus you coming from a plasma set. A technology that isn't plagued with a lot of the issues that effect LED/LCD. IF you want a quality 50" TV for under $500 look for a good 1080p set. Unfortunately these type of sets are disappearing as they push the 4k shit. The first thing you are going to notice with these LED/LCD sets is how poor the black levels are compared to Plasma. Only OLED can produce Black levels on par with Plasma.

Looks like that TCL deal might be good until Sunday....unless you straight up restricted to 50 inches, that TCL P series for 499 is the one to get

Yeah, but it's a 10-year old plasma and heavy as a bitch. And it's only 720p. I'm sure anything out now is better than that TV.

I'm considering this one on Rakuten.

I have a plasma I've been itching to get a new one as well. Alot too that no one is mentioning is the energy as well on these older models compared to the newer LED's. If you have a bunch of TV's in the crib, it can be a good savings on the electric bill monthly

As the owner of a 4k TV, I kind of have to agree with the OP.
There is little to no 4k content available for streaming.
The few 4k movies and shows I have watched have not blown me away, not like it was going from 720p/1080i to 1080p and definitely not like going from standard def (SD) to high def (HD).
Some of y'all are getting 4k and the over-processing that some of these TVs do to produce the "soap opera effect" confused.

Thankfully, I got a very good deal on my Sony 70" 4k and didn't pay too much more than a 1080p set.
I feel bad for the early adopters who paid through the nose when the 4k sets first came out.

OLED is a whole nother discussion. Now that blows away everything away right now. But of course, you'll have to pay for it.

Two years later and there is still barely any 4k content available for streaming.
I have to say 4k overall was a flop.
Hopefully, 8k (or whatever comes next) is a bigger step up.

Other than being lighter in weight and the energy savings, you won't notice a huge difference between your old plasma TV and a lot of the newer TVs.

I’ve got 4K and 3D TVs ...Most shit on tv is 1080 p or less so it’s a waste...Plus I can’t see worth a damn anyways
Just trying to keep up with technology

Shit, broadcast TV isn't even 1080p...its 720p or 1080i....TV industry got the same problem computers started having back in the day...hardware outstripping software...not enough content for the shit....finally got a 4k tv on Friday...an out of box Sony 55 inch... I know the game and even I was surprised at how little 4k shit was out there

Bought a 4k 55 inch TV. (Didn't have enough space for a bigger one.) Nice quality. Planning on getting a PS4 Pro soon. I was a skeptic at first, but now I see the difference.

I have a TCL 1080p Roku TV, and I do see a clear difference between the quality of my plasma and that TV, and TCL is a lower-end brand. Maybe it's just the brightness though. Regardless, it's time to upgrade.
