49ers

At the end of last season, I thought you made some comments that your salary demands might be somewhat more modest than what we’re hearing that you got in order to leave space for other players on the team. Had you rethought that position?

“No. Part of the way the contract is written and the way it was negotiated was so they would be able to sign other players. That was something that my agents and the organization worked out and they felt like this was something they would be able to get other players with.”

Take that.

Yea Kap is getting about 18-19 million a year, which is on par with what other QB's are getting.
Kap is making about the same as Romo & Cutler.

Yea but its still super flexible for us, we'll be able to restructure as needed to keep people like crab and aldon and stuff.

then you gotta think about pieces like gore and justin smith who will be gone in 2 years after winning back to back super bowls that'll come off the list

we successfully completed turned over our roster from old to young and people didn't even see it.

Whitner gone- enter bathea who is temp until ward is set but in the meantime ward will be nickel

culliver and brock way younger and more potential than rogers and brown.

when ward moves to safety dontae johnson goes to nickel

tank for justin dial for macdonald

lemonier to fill in for brooks

thomas to take care of the guard spot if we can't get iupati.

got our center for the next 12 years in marcus martin.

hyde and lattimore for gore

this is insane.

2014 49ers roster, 90-in-90 breakdown
(Every 49er fan on BGOL should read this

Good looking out Curt... I just read a few players and it's definitely good stuff.

I think about this all the time. I have to take my hat off to Paraag & Trent for the contracts and players they've put in place. They are keeping the team competitive for years to come.

Man our squad is set for years... I speculated that we may go this rout during the draft, but I never knew that we would hit the jack pot the way we did..
Well stage one is done, now its time to show up on the field and get it done.. One thing good about our deep draft is that even if a few flop we are so deep that we can absorb it..

Kinda feel bad for Colin, would have liked to see him get more cash in hand, he's basically at the mercy of these niggas bullshit number crunching Anually and only got 13 mill in sure money :smh: he deserved At Least 30 mill upfront no questions asked..

Nah he's betting on himself to do well which should really have us inspired.. he's willing to take this deal cause he know he's going to perform well enough to get paid all of his money

meanwhile they'll be able to sign the people we want back.. crab, aldon etc.

Vernon's gonna hold out... not coming to mandatory camp either. :smh:

http://mmqb.si.com/2014/06/16/vernon-davis-monday-morning-quarterback/ (good column, btw)

What do y'all think about this? Holding out with 2 years to go? I know he can be waived, or get injured, but damn... he can't play out what was the biggest deal ever for a TE at time he signed it?

Vernon is a selfish idiot
When he first signed the deal he was going to be the highest paid TE in the league !!!
We also front loaded the contract & a lot of that money was guaranteed
Even now he is still getting paid top 3 money for a TE
I think only Jimmy Graham gets paid more than Vernon

What the hell is his problem ???
He has a bunch of different business ventures...
So, I'm not sure if hes spreading his money a little thin or what
He also has that Fantex stock bullshit thing, & I think that is also playing a large part in his decision to hold out

Bottom line is Baalke ain't giving him any more money... he better not
It will set a bad example for the rest of the team & then everyone will want to hold out for a raise
Now on the flipside, I think Alex Boone has a legitimate complaint b/c he's WAY UNDERPAID !!!

Where is Singletary when you need him ???
You forgot about this Vernon.....

Harbaugh just said CB Eric Wright is considering retirement and is not at mandatory minicamp.
http://www.sacbee.com/2014/06/17/6490665/eric-wright-a-surprise-no-show.html

Update just now.....
Eric Wright, former #49ers CB, has made the decision to officially retire, source says. The paperwork will be in shortly

Soooooooooo.....
1. Brock is only a 1 year starter
2. Culliver is still not 100% healthy from his ACL surgery
He still has not partipated at all in camp yet
3. Rookie Jimmy Ward is still trying to recover from his foot surgery he had right before/after the combine
4. Perrish Cox is a scrub, that was already cut from both the 49ers & the Seahawks last year
5. Now Eric Wright is taking the "Glen Coffee" route & quitting on the team at the last minute
6. I hope those new rookies are ready to go day 1, cause like I said before, the 1st few teams we play are very pass happy (Cowboys, Cardinals, Bears)

We could have jumped up about 6 spots for
1. Jason Verrett (perfect nickel CB to cover slot WR's)
OR
2. Darqueze Dennard (Outside CB like Cully & Chris Cook)
OR
3. Stayed put & grabbed Bradley Roby (who the Broncos picked right after us)

JUST SAYIN !!!

:hmm::hmm::hmm:

how you guys feel about Roman saying we will pass more given the somewhat upgraded receiving corp imo. Peep my angle... Boldin is a year older, Stevie was jumped by Robert woods in Buffalo, crabs may be better but i don't more than Victor Cruz numbers, Vernon is angling for more dough which may hinder his elite play to just above average. Seattle took him outta the champ game completely. Patton didn't impress and Ellington is a wildcard. Running game however is stacked beyond compare. Miller is back. Gore, Hunter,James, Lattimore, and Hyde... (Clay Davis voice) shiiiittt. Who ever we cut can be a starter on 75 percent of the teams in the league. Roman must see something in them receivers.

all our wr's are built to win 1 on 1

also it will help our running game because they won't see 8 and 9 man fronts knowing that we aren't going to put enough weapons on the outside to harm them

also give gore hye lattimore hunter 7 man fronts give kap 7 man fronts and we're running all over people.

No LAX charges for Aldon Smith

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11162914/aldon-smith-san-francisco-49ers-face-charges-lax-threat

"Aldon Smith will not face misdemeanor charges stemming from an arrest for allegedly making a fake bomb threat at Los Angeles International Airport in April."
...

"While this matter appears to be close to finished, Smith's legal issues are not. He will be sentenced July 25 for pleading no contest to three felony gun charges and could face jail time. The NFL could also suspend him, as well."
