49ers

I wouldn't be surprised if we grab Stanley Jean Baptiste if he's there in the 3rd, for a Richard Sherman style tall dominant corner.

Bottom line we gotta trade the fuck UP... If we sit there at 30 there better be some killers who slipped through the cracks.. Which I certainly doubt in this years draft...Trent fucked off the Josh Gordon deal hoarding these picks so hopefully he can redeem himself here... If we go Dennard, Verrett, Roby then we can go 2nd tier WR (moncrief ,Latimer,Allen) in the 2nd round... But honestly man the time is NOW to man the fuck up, jump up into that top 10 and get either Watkins , Evans or Beckham Jr. :itsawrap:

Not to keep beating a dead horse but.....
This shit right here is the damn TRUTH !!!
Trent better do something big & he better not pick another AJ Jenkins cause....
We could have given up our 2nd or even 1st rounder for Josh Gordon !!!

:angry::angry::angry:

Beckham, Watkins, Evans.... or else :itsawrap:

I guess we can kinda cross Watkins off the list... Seems like he's cozying up with the Lions real nice. Funny if you ask me tho, lions don't pick till 10, meanin they're REALLY confident  or they're gonna crazy and go Julio Jones to get Sammy... This becomes interesting because of the likely negotiating parties.. I'd hate to see the Rams at 2 get any more picks, maybe the Jags at 3, they have so many holes, a payload of picks would do them good... Browns at 4, but I suspect they want him too, give their QB at 26 someone to throw too... I'm not even mad, my heart is set on Beckham... Can't wait till tomorrow night

17. San Francisco 49ers -- LSU WR Odell Beckham (Via Trade Up)
"TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline produces arguably the most on-point pre-draft information on the internet. He wrote on his blog Wednesday that Beckham is the apple of San Francisco's eye. To get "ODB," GM Trent Baalke would have to trade up. I project here that he'll swap with the Ravens to secure Beckham, a deep threat wideout who compares favorably to an in-prime Greg Jennings"

I'm good with that as long as it's one of those guys. It has to be an impact wr. everything else we'll fill in. get a top wr then get a great db that fell for value.. then go ahead and get some offensive line and d line depth and im good.

That I can live with.

I doubt we have a chance at Gilbert if we're going wideout 1st... I like Gaines speed and Johnson size/speed...

Y'all gonna kill me for back pedaling, but if we stay at 30 and land Ra'shede Hageman I could kinda live with that.. Defense wins championships.. I only present this scenario if the skill guys fly off the board I'd hate for us to reach up and it only be like a Brandon cooks left..

Check these DB prospects out. which one do you guys think would be a great fit for us?

Honestly I don't watch college games a whole lot.
I haven't been paying attention to the 2nd tier CB, just the 1st tier guys going in round # 1

Gilbert - Will be long gone, first CB picked.
Very athletic, fast, high upside but still kinda raw

Dennard - Solid as a rock. Very fundamentally sound.
Not as fast as the other 1st Rd CB's

Verret - Another solid CB.
The knock on him is his small size though
He would be good for us against Percy Harvin & Tavon Austin, in the slot

Roby - A knucklehead like Culliver
Had some off the field issues, but still pretty good

Fuller - Can't remember about him.
I think he might be more of a cover corner

From what I read Dennard would fit our scheme as a press corner w/ safety help over the top
Dennard would be an upgrade over Cully.
Or Verret would fit our scheme being a nickel corner
Verret would be an upgrade over Cox/Wright

The best WR fit.... within reach..... would be Odell Beckham Jr
The main thing I don't like about Beckham is his bench press
He only did something like 7 reps? WTF happened there?
Hell weak ass AJ Jenkins did 10 reps!
Can Beckham handle the Seahawks physical defense?

Also you have to keep in mind Crabs will want to get paid next year
He might be too expensive for us to re-sign, remember his rookie holdout.

.......OR Trent Baalke might throw a curve ball like with AJ Jenkins & Alton Smith

Thats why i like the idea of trading up to get someone who can be a potential #1 WR type. Give the team some possible leverage when it comes time to re-sign Crabtree

We needed a good backup Safety for both guys... He’ll be there just like Bowman was there backing up Spikes and Willis... Look how that turned out.

i like it. im more worried about tomorrow. if we execute tomorrow we're set up for a LONG time. there's a lot of talent we can collect. we got 5 more picks in the next 2 rounds

I don't know why I even bother watching the draft
Trent Baalke gives me grey hairs, man I swear

Sooo we drafted a player in the 1st round that.....

1) Has to sit behind Eric Reid & Antoine Bethea
OR
2) We have to wait/hope that he can convert to a nickel corner

In order for this to be a good pick, Ward better be able to play nickel corner better than Jason Varrett !!!

calm down. all accounts say the only reason he wasn't a higher 1st round pick is cause of his size.. but he's basically the same size as whitner height wise.

we'll see what he can do. tomorrow is where we find out if we need to rejoice or march to santa clara and punch baalke in the face.

this was a baalke pick, we'll see if we get some jim picks (kap etc) in there.

remember jim didn't want a.j. he wanted jefferson so we'll see who wins.

also after jenkins it's like nah, we're not fucking with offensive players in the 1st round anymore. it was aldon then jenkins then reid.

so pro bowler
BUST
pro bowler
lol

we're hoping he keeps the tradition going.

Ward is a guy who is aggressive versus the run and can cover. It's a pick suited to play Big Nickel versus teams that like to some out in a 3 WR formation and run the ball (Seattle).

The Ward pick is growing on me a little bit. Love his ball skills. He might be very productive as far as creating turnovers. I just hate the fact that we didnt trade up to get more of an impact player. And all the talk about how physical he is, he's got a small frame. I just hope he doesnt end up constantly battling injuries because of his physical nature. I mean you telling me we couldnt trade up with the Saints instead of the Cardinals doing it? I think we're going to regret not taking Dennard. It reminds me of a few years back when they traded up like 10 spots to draft Anthony Davis, and Earl Thomas was still available. And 60% of the snaps or not, i still think thats too much of a situational type players.

I do like the fact that there are still plenty of good receivers to choose from. Just hope Baalke doesn't fuck it up by going after some random OLB or DL.

I would love to see us go after Brandon Thomas from Clemson sometime on Sunday, hopefully he's still available. I think he might be a steal.

Well Baalke addressed that, he said that they were trying to move up to get some of these players BUT it's not like last year where we find a sucker and can do it for cheap. teams wanted to fleece us so we stayed put.

also you gotta realize that teams hate us now, for what? who knows.. but they do so they're not going to help us get better when we're beating them. if you look at it, it was all nfc picks in those prime spots we wanted.

today is the day though, there's still some GREAT ASS VALUE in these 2nd and 3rd rounds and we got 4 picks. let's see what we get then we can judge the rest of it. but if we drafted a starting nickel, then that solves the front end db issues.

im not gonna sell him. just look at this highlight package and tell me you don't see a ball hawk aggressive tackler with elite ball skills who is comfortable in run support as well as actually PLAYING THE BALL and not watching the wr complete the pass like we've had to see the past couple of years (rogers)

am i tripping or is this dude looking like a stud?

Look at the scouting report for his weaknesses.

Overall Weaknesses

- Below-average size for a starting safety

- Smaller frame leaves him vulnerable to injuries

- Takes poor pursuit angles in run support

- Eye discipline is average at best; vulnerable to play-action pass plays

Size yes that's legit.

Frame that's legit, however you know we've got the best weight program in the nfl

poor pursuit angles and eye discipline.. i seem to recall they said the exact same thing about eric reid

now his strengths

+ Great speed and quickness lead to game-changing plays

+ Mirrors receivers in the slot like no other safety in the class

+ Good technician who doesn’t waste steps in coverage

+ Able to play press-man coverage

+ Efficient tackler in space due to good form

+ Solid ball skills that developed throughout his career

alright

now what say you?

Killa!

you can finally put on a happy hat for once.

We get a #1 WR to be our #3... Boldin, Crabtree, Johnson not to mention Davis at TE.

Dear Football Gods. I pray to you. Please keep our players healthy this season.

Listen

crab boldin vd johnson? lol

all we have to do is USE THESE MOTHERFUCKERS

I was just listing the receiving core first. Left out my boy Patton also. In his second year he should improve nicely. The receiving core is the shit.

As for Roman not using players - I think we'll all be lined up waiting to kick his ass if he can't get them the ball.
