238 million

Nawh,

The majority of people that are going to see it come early to mid January are going to be repeat viewers(Die Hards). This is a good example of a movie that's front-end heavy! Those numbers are going to start to trickling in another 2-weeks I bet.

I think it tops out at about 1.6-1.9B. It definitely isn't going to overtake 2.8B to surpass Avatar and I will gladly bet you on that.
If Star Wars can't take one of those fucking James Cameron films, this year would've been a complete waste. I now know my goals of replacing titanic was too much. Just take avatar out. Please Star Wars, please at least take out avatar.

Bruh in order to do that it will have to make damn near 3 Billion. That's crazy! It would have until what January 20 something to get there. Because after that you start getting into movies like Kung Fu Panda and a slew of Live-Action Comic Movies.

If they can wrap up a billion by this weekend, we are still on track.

day by day numbers...

ok..i underestimated the geek factor of this...

this shit is gonna b at 500 mill by monday... that is crazy...
:eek2:

:money:

I'm surprised at a couple things. Sisters did not have a budget of that number. Second issue. I'm surprised that creed hasn't hit $100. How is the Martian still in theatres?

There is a loyal core fan base for movies like Sisters...I am SHOCKED Creed hasn't hit $100 mil yet and they already negotiating a sequel that seems ODD...I don't trust those numbers at all...Martian STILL selling tickets and might actual get a BUMP over the holiday.

So many people do not have time to actually go to the theater but still prefer that movie theater experience. Especially IMAX surround sound and the Martian is that type of movie.

I wouldn't be surprised if Star Wars is in theaters till March hell maybe even a re-release before the summer.

def expect a rerelease before DVD go onsale nēxt November

Definitely expect a surge for Star Wars and just about every movie really for the X-mas weekend. Folks love to see movies and do other social type things with family and friends during this time of the year.

After that is when you're going to start seeing the drop-off. By how much remains to be seen. But I'm sticking with my 1.6-1.9B. Obviously something in the low 2-2.3B is possible. We'll see!

rogue one trailers will be in theaters before May - my guess is by Civil War

Disney is coming hard

agreed

I got a feeling Batman Superman isn't going to do as well as we all think..

it will do NUMBERS but watch DC is disappointed.

Ya'll can't keep BvS out off your minds. What does that movie have to do with a Star Wars thread? Also, talk about contradiction, "Isn't going to do as well as we all think" and "It will do NUMBERS"?

The only thing $$-wise that movie is expected to do is break 1B that's it!

:roflmao::lol:

I say this as a life long DC fan boy .... Warners may have set themselves up for a fail from day one.
I think BvS will do perfectly reasonable numbers but Warners sets themselves up in a way that if that movie doesn't do close to a billion then it will be considered a disappointment by many. And BvS ain't doing a billion.
I just hope it doesn't flop or do so bad that it fucks Suicide Squad through association.

The best thing for everyone would be for BvS to be great and do major numbers. That would just force Marvel to step their game up even further for Avengers 3. Competition is always good for the consumers.

because its a train wreck in slow motion...

made more obvious as the SCALE of Disney's release schedule and cross marketing plan becomes appearant

wow this thing might b at 500 million by the end of the weekend...it`s doing an average of 37 million during the dam week...:eek2:

unless it has a major slow down...it just might get Avatar...Domestically...Overall tho...?...2.7 Billion is still a long way a way....
or if someone does something real clever like shoot up a theater...

So a movie and it's sister movies that are also going to make money is a "train wreck in slow motion.."? Because what? They likely won't make 2 Billion?

How much are you willing to bet on that? Also, it's clear you're not a DC Fan boy and don't know what you're talking about at all! If you did then you would realize how ridiculous that prediction is not only based on the reputation of the property but the previous incarnations and their profitability.

Once upon time BvS could have done a billion+ easy.
But in a world where we're getting big superheroes movies every couple of months, I just think some of that allure has been stripped away.
And after that last trailer, I kinda lost hope that word of mouth will be good enough for BvS to do insane Star Wars level numbers.

Again, I point out that I hope I'm wrong as fuck. I want BvS to be great and kick off a great DC Cineamtic uinverse so that I can finally see some of my favorite characters brought to the big screen. I just don't have faith in Zack Snyder or Warners Bros. and I'm just not going to let myself get gassed up and end up walking out theater pissed off because it didn't live up to my expectations.

no... here is what historically hollywood does- they ride a fad and dump it the second it under performs - not lose money but just underperform...
WB is doing the same as it always has it is rushing to catch the trend instead of building it. If BvS under performs the rest of the JL slate is in serious jeopardy - Wonder Woman, forget about it, Aquaman will maybe happen after Universal gives up Submariner. WB is using the wrong creative team to drive this.
Look I want a good Justice League movie and a great Green Lantern movie in my lifetime.
If they had any brains - they would work on a franchise of full motion capture / CGI movies (a la Avatar)

You're all over the place!

First BvS was going to "easy" make 1 Billion. But now we're in a world we're getting "big superheroes movies every couple of months"
So? Because of that the movies is not an easy make at 1 Billion anymore and the allure for a movie still 4 months away has been stripped away?

Further, The last trailer made you lose hope. So the comic con trailer made you have hope?
Additionally, why in the world would you ever have believed that BvS let alone ANY movie would do "Star Wars level numbers?"

Clearly, You nor anyone else that spends 90% of your time criticizing any movie company not named Marvel don't want these companies to have success. That's a given wether you realize it of not! By default and by the strength of your criticism and arguments you want every movie studio to create live-action movies that feel like Marvel products.

What's ironic about that and as a comic-book fan you should know this is that Comic-Books are amazing because they are all so different and carry so many different messages and tone(s). Yet, When that's given to you in a cinematic universe all you can do is complain they aren't all like Apple..sorry I meant Marvel!

I'll tell you now it ain't happening, expect better than Superman Returns numbers, but no where near 1.5 b
they are only planning on releasing on 3900 to 4000 screens - even worse the release schedule is packed with competition
School will be in session, and I'm not expecting favorable word of mouth

Superman Returns- 391 Million!
So according to you BvS is going to do slightly better than that and apparently not even close to 500 Million.
