"Patriots Island"..... starring Revis and Browner:D:D:D

BOY WE HAVEN'T LOOKED THIS SOLID AT THE BACK SINCE TY LAW LEFT!:dance:

My comment is not saying that any of you brothas is wrong in your opinions respectively. Here's what I think, though.

What happened in the AFCCG is that Brady sucked and the D unraveled once Talib went down. This is what always happened to the D when Talib was not in the game. It happened in both AFCCG's and during the regular season games that he missed. He just brought a different presence to that team. I think it a) made the Pats realize that BB's defenses only work when he has a stud corner (remember the success with Ty Law), and b) they need depth so that if something happens to Revis or any of the other corners, maybe there won't be such a defensive collapse.

I think what's also at play here, and I know the Broncos have something to do with it, is that BB is trying to return to that winning formula. Defense won them their championships. Defense was how the Giants stopped the perfect season. Defense is how Seattle put a throttling on Denver. Defense wins championships. If those fuckers can get Vince to play ball, it looks like their D is shaping up to be pretty stout this season. They were really good through the first four or so games last season before the injuries gutted them.

Brady has shown he can do the job with marginal receivers. The whole "Brady needs weapons" thing was a result of 2007. If you look before that, look at the SB years, that dude was winning with no name receivers. I still think he can do that if Gronk is healthy and they have a great D. Two tough corners and good LB's, which they have, can win them a championship. At least that's what I think.

:wepraise::wepraise::wepraise: Preach! brother preach!

that's what I been saying. defense was the let down. Patriots still need a top receiver, but they need a pass rush more.

When they won the 3 championships in 4 years it was a defensive team: ty law, Lawyer Milloy, Willie McGinest, Tedy Bruschi, Rodney Harrison, Richard Seymour, Vince Wilfork.

2007 patriots 16-0 season was the last of the championship defense players retiring. All the point scored and blowout that year kind of masked that. the only people still here from those championship teams is Brady and Wilfork(and he missed the season last year)

patriots need a pass rush bad to get QBs out of that pocket.
One big top notch D-line man will do it
.

Peppers picks the Packers

It’s not quite dogs-and-cats-living-together-type stuff, but it’s close: Ted Thompson has broken out the bucks for a guy who doesn’t already play for the Packers.

Eight years since adding Charles Woodson after urged to acquire an impact player to the defense by Brett Favre, the Packers G.M. has signed a high-profile free agent from another team.

Agent Carl Carey has announced on Twitter that free-agent defensive lineman Julius Peppers has agreed to terms with the Packers.

Cut this week by the Bears at a time when his compensation was increasing to $14 million and his skills have been declining, Peppers brings whatever he has left in the tank to Titletown.

It’s unclear how much Peppers has left in the tank. His compensation from the Packers will reveal what his new team thinks of a player who undoubtedly will be moved to outside linebacker in the team’s 3-4 defense.

The Packers already have Clay Matthews, Nick Perry, and Mike Neal at the OLB position. It could be that Thompson wants a Seattle-style four-man rotation that is able to continuously chase the quarterback while remaining rested and fresh and, for a change, not injured.

The 34-year-old Peppers was the second pick in the 2002 draft, sandwiched between quarterbacks David Carr and Joey Harrington. After eight seasons in Carolina, Peppers signed a six-year, $84 million contract in Chicago.

Four years and $53.5 million later, he’ll get a chance to give the Packers a much-needed boost on defense. Based on his performances in 2013, some will be skeptical about just how much of a boost it will be

I keep telling people if Talib didn't go down Denver wouldn't of won

That shit is insane. Shit Allen salty but imagine Justin Tuck. He told the Giants he'd take a 2 year 8 million dollar deal and they said fuck off. How the fuck Peppers get that kind of deal at his age?

ITs hilarious how last year the defensive line position was underpaid as shit in free agency. They making up for it now.

Yeah man these other dudes just aren't as big name as Ware and Peppers

Their name/reputation got them the contracts they have

Tuck isn't in that league

You'd like to think Allen is but it's been quiet for him thus far

I'm just amazed that Tuck and Allen had better years than both Ware and Peppers......but Tuck shit was pennies. I mean that shit is foul right there.

But I guess it is a name thing. I think with Allen though I think that muthafucka is fucking around....he wants someone to break the bank for him. I do think name-wise he's in that Ware and Peppers league.

What's been doing is a miracle. he's making these dudes money. he's changing systems every single year to go with whatever it is he has. To me he's better than manning. I know I'll get killed. but look how many different types of offenses they've had to run... whatever the personnel is that's what they do

the defenses won the championships yes

however

if you give that man some weapons he knows what to do with him.

i mean they gave him weapons...legit weapons 1 year and they went fucking 18-1 16-0 for the season and he threw the most td at that point lol.

:yes::yes:

Peppers had to deal with double teams and a shitty defense.

Crazy thing looking at that is Ware had a decent amount of hurries those injuries he was playing with just stole that burst to complete that into a sack like he usually does

I'm rooting for him to have a healthy season and get 10+ sacks

Everyone deals with double teams though. Jared Allen faced double teams last year. Ware didn't but Ware was clearly hurt playing with one arm and a neck injury.

I disagree, it's a lot easier to key on one player when no other player has the ability to get to the QB.

Jared Allen had that other dude who had a good year.

We only had one dude with 4 sacks. Minnesota had like five. Same with the Giants even without JPP.

I think that's why Peppers wasn't hurt in free agency by last year.

Plus we had the worst rushing defense in the league, so he had less opportunities to get to the QB.

You might be right because Packers gave Peppers a big ass contract to be 34 years old.....and for those sack numbers.....

And the crazy shit is, I think I read 4 of those 7 sacks came against the worst offensive lines in the league. Y'all Bears fans saw him more than me though.

Tuck might need to fire his agent

Or it's something besides numbers

Tuck was trying to be loyal to the Giants and wanted to take a pay cut if you let him tell it. Fucked around and got a little bit better deal but at his age....i'm shocked he didn't get more but I think he and his agent undervalued what he could get.

Peppers missed zero games as a Bear but he was chronically dealing with injuries during his time in Chicago. The double-team theory is a myth though. He barely got doubled last year. And he is 34. He coulda taken a restructure and stayed in Chicago for what the Pack is giving him. Its cool tho.

We had 1st-2nd-and 3rd string DTs injured all year. Briggs and Tillman out half the year. Rookies and street free agents playing all year... it was time for the Bears D to reload anyway.

Pepp will benefit from having Clay Matthews to help him rush (and vice versa) just like he benefited when Henry Melton was healthy. That said with his chronic foot problems I question his impact in more that 3 games a year.

I just hope they aint the three when my Bears play em.:lol:

Yeah man this shit sounds parallel to Dallas and Ware. Suffered injuries all year....struggled and people think its because of double teams. That cat was not doubled man lol. Even when we played y'all and y'all had a backup left tackle on Ware and he still couldn't do shit. We had 20 different defensive linemen suit up for us last year.... Like I said, the shit you talking about sounds exactly like us. It was time to reload. I wish they would've had some guys in place to reload for now....now they gotta reload and fast.

Pats will prob snag Britt if St. Louis doesn't - that good ol' Rutgers connection. So sorry Cam...kudos to the redskins for at least trying to put talent around a black qb (so rare).

Panthers sign Roman Harper

Veteran safety Roman Harper has left New Orleans but is staying in the NFC South.

The Panthers have signed Harper to a two-year, $4.5 million deal with a $1.5 million signing bonus, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The 31-year-old Harper has played his entire career for the Saints, who selected him in the second round of the 2006 NFL draft. He was a two-time Pro Bowler in New Orleans, but last year age and injuries appeared to be catching up with him as he played in just nine games and started only five.

Carolina, however, has seen Harper plenty of times and still views him as a player with something left. He’ll be a veteran presence on a good Panthers defense.

This free agent receiving class is weak

I guess because of already drafting one bust, the Jets wanted more of a sure thing

Bill will have that dude sleeping in a hamstring stretcher

As injury prone as he is if trust him over Amendola

That was just a stupid ass contract just to spite Welker

Yeah it's pretty damn bad out there at WR that's why in thinking if I'm a team I roll the dice on Miles Austin

Ain't shit else out there at this moment, James Jones? Kenny Britt injury prone ass? Santonio? Emmanuel Sanders? Brandon Lafell? :smh::puke:

Good thing this is the best receiver draft in years

You got vets like Nate Burleson and Lance Moore out there too

Wouldn't mind the Cowboys adding Moore for the low

Tom Brady better hope Bill drafts some receivers, because those DB's aren't helping him play in January.
